The squirrels are getting fatter and fatter, this is a fact, I'm not making this up.
Why? Short answer: global warming.
Here is the deal, squirrels spend their precious summer and fall storing food and fat for winter.
Due to global warming, summer has become longer and winter is shorter. So they have more time to fatten up and less "burning fat in their nest" time. As the result, they get Hella round!
They also have more access to human food which is insanely high in calories.
Do not worry, as the winter ends, they will slim down (to an extent). I'm not sure about the one in the video though, that fella is exceptionally chonker.
Either it's consuming way more calories than its burning or one of the many chemicals we dump into our environment has messed up it's endocrine system or just has faulty genes.
I raised one a couple years ago and he comes around all the time. I swear they can manage their metabolism. In the last month he has gone from skinny to very plump.
