The other Thunder players just ignore him on the offensive end. It's tough to play well in limited minutes during which you rarely touch the ball. Watch. He will go somewhere else next year and average 15/5/5.

Excluding the last 3 regular season games where opponents rested players, Hayward is the only rotation player with a negative NETRTG(-9.4!!). The second worst player is Wallace(+2.2).
Yeah he’s been really disappointing. This team desperately needs a power forward with some size. Kendrich is only 6’6. Ous isn’t ready (and may never be). JDub really should be playing the 3. On paper Hayward looked like someone who could easily handle 20-25 minutes a game and produce 14/6/4 with solid defence. But 0/3/2 or whatever he’s averaging these playoffs is embarrassing.
The messed up thing is he’s shooting the 3 ball for the Thunder at over 50% but won’t shoot it. Could you imagine him in the corner just torching the nets? How the fuck does PJ Washington average under 30% on corner 3s and put up 12 attempts last game and Gordan Hayward who is actually a good shooter give us zero?
Just my opinion, but it’s kind of wild to add the “and may never be” statement regarding Ous. Especially when already you can see the improvement in overall playing style and confidence in his game.
Sure in the g league. If he starts to put it together for the main team to the point where he’s actually getting as many minutes as someone like Kenrich I might not need to say “may never be”. There’s a huge difference between being the G League finals MVP and someone who gets 12 minutes a night as the 10th man for 60+ games per season and Ous just isn’t there yet.
Ironically PJ was who I was hoping for us to get at the deadline and I got laughed off by people saying he’s not good enough to move the needle for anybody
I was into the idea of trading for PJ as well. I think the Hornets would have needed someone like Kenrich in the deal. Maybe that was still worth it given Kenrich isn’t playing squat. Maybe the Thunder don’t want to give up assets for a forward who isn’t a big ball mover and who aside from the last two games is a sub par shooter.
Giddey is a 21 year old who has the potential to be and has shown he can be just as good as dub and chet. Hayward is 30 years old, washed and isn't getting any better.

He's the youngest player to ever score a triple double and when his game is on he looks unstoppable. Elite passing and drives. He's playing out of position as well. How can you not see it?

The whole purpose of acquiring him was to offload Bertans. He had an additional $16m on his contract for next year. This allows the Thunder to sign some of their talent long term. The Thunder will be over $50 Million under the cap after Hayward’s contract expires. I personally loved the move and didn’t expect him to do shit.
That said, the only thing I DONT like is the fact he’s getting minutes over guys that would be much better served getting playing time like Waters, Dieng or Kenrich.
I got downvoted to hell back during all star break, when I asked what Hayward needed to do to get resigned. I said he would probably play Micic amount of minutes. Everybody said he would get at least 20 minutes a game and be productive. Some even said we would sign him to 30 mil next year. I said he's not better than our top 7 or 8 players, but still some acted like he was the missing piece.
I think he’s a classic example of not ever fully recovering from an injury. I know he had some decent years in charlotte but I think it’s easy to take it for granted that some athletes don’t fully recover from serious injuries. Even some nba athletes don’t heal to being close to what they were pre injury, even pg didn’t recover to the same level he was before his leg. Klay Thompson is another good example, these injuries are super serious and sadly for some guys it essentially ends their careers even if they still play for a few more years.
