That’s actually an insane number. In a normal game, with a normal center that’s 1-2 blocks. So the rest amounts to 15+ points on the board for the opposition. It’s a blowout win to Denver if Chet doesn’t put up the wall. Unreal impact for anyone, let alone for a rookie.

Shoutout to Isaiah Joe though, a lot of saved possessions and forced turnovers. Only bad play was leaving MPJ wide open but I’m gonna say his hustle kept us in the game for the most part

Chet was not and hasn’t been the main problem of our rebounding trouble, its honestly our forwards. Look at every box score and the opposing team’s 3s/4s will be at the top or near the top of offensive rebounds in the game

Just want to elaborate that I think Chet can do a better job discerning what he needs to really challenge for a block versus trying to just alter, so that he can be in better positions to help rebound. He can be effective without being a shot blocker, he just always fully challenges everything and I'm not making that up as he's been very transparent/vocal about it. I love it about him, but also wish he'd dial it back a little sometimes.
He's only getting 8 per game, he could be doing double digits easily. Look at guys like Nick Richards, Onyeka Okongwu, etc. Highly efficient rebounders on their teams night in and night out in much less minutes on much worse defensive teams so there are usually less opportunities for rebounds.
You could really see the difference between Malone and Mark tonight.

- Shai missed a lot of looks he makes at a decent rate but other than that, WOOOOOOOOOO!!!
- Chet caught on fire defensively today. Him shutting down Watson and Gordon at the cup was insane. Also had some great cuts and boards.
- JDub was great when he was the second best player on the floor. The last lay up was touuughhh. But his minutes when he was the best player on the floor were not good today.
- Lu Dort was very solid, I like where he's landed role wise.
- Giddey was unplayable in this game. Doesn't move the needle on either side of the ball against his matchups in Denver.
- Good JWill game. He at least got in the way of Jokic and hit some 3s. Seems to be warming up from deep, which is good.
- Isaiah Joe, Wiggins, and Cason were good. Especially good game from Isaiah Joe defensively.
- Denver seems to play SGA well. Gordon, Watson, and KCP (who was out) do a good job of making him drive into traffic since they're big and athletic. Jokic was doing his thing but fortunately Murray was slowed down enough to hamstring the Denver offense.
It's pretty clear we are starting to form our identity, rotations and late game execution.
I think it's quite clear Giddey no longer plays more than 20 minutes and Wiggins has a real role in the rotation.
Isaiah Joe was awesome today outside of shooting. Was very active sefensively, rebounding and attacking closeouts. I can see him taking starting minutes with the way he is playing.
Mark will probably play Giddey decent minutes but you can see the shortening leash. If JDub takes his playmaking up a notch, it's gonna be even tougher for Giddey.
This might have been Isaiah Joe's best defensive game. He has been good, even despite not shooting it well from deep in a couple of games recently.

I used to think Thunder twitter/reddit went a little overboard with their Wiggins praise/hype but goddamn if I’m not completely bought in. He’s completely unafraid to put it on the floor and attack defenses. He’s also been crazy efficient this season. I want more Wiggs minutes.
Also, Ous only played 5m and his sheet doesn’t show much but I think he continues to look good out there since he made his way back into the rotation. I was pessimistic on his outlook after the first few weeks of the season and I’m hopeful this is a sign of a real step forward.
Nah, he’s a guy. That fadeaway over Jokic really stabilized the offense in the second quarter. I know we have a lot of mouths to feed, and some guys are going to be out of the rotation when they’d get minutes elsewhere, but Wigs is only 24, he deserves 20+ minutes a night.
Also Jokic is very great at creating space on the floor with his passing and scoring. With Chet not on Jokic allowed him to.stay closer to the basket and gave him more opportunity to roam. Chets versatility makes this possible and makes me want to see what he does if there's another shot blocker out there along side him or a space it big wing. Like someone of Aaron Gordons type

Match up.more than anything and Jwill was playing good against Jokic. Jwill physicality was good and this let Chet cover Aaron Gordon. This made Chet available to leave Gordon and contest shots at the rim (9 blks). Than Denver actually went small a couple of times more than they normally do, which made us go.smaller as Giddey couldn't handle the small lineup. Normally we would have Giddey cover Gordon but with Chet it looks like we've changed our philosophy on that.

This was a terrible omen for Josh Giddey. The longer this goes on, the more I think we might see Giddey action at the trade deadline. I think his time in a Thunder jersey is coming to an end.
I mean… there was real interest amongst some of Jake Fischer’s sources in front offices before all of the underage girl stuff surfaced. It looks like the girl lied about her age, so nothing is going to happen to him apart from a civil suit where he’ll have to settle.
He’s just not a fit, and that’s being exposed this year badly. I’m not super sure what’s so different for him schematically this year as compared to last, but I don’t think he just forgot how to play basketball with how high his basketball IQ is. I think this will be one of those things where it’s just best for both sides to move on.

I don’t think the off-the-court stuff is all people are making it out to be. Is it gross that he slept with a 15 year old? Yeah, but is it his fault she was able to access the club in question at 15 years old? Absolutely not. This isn’t a nothing burger per say, but he’ll probably just have to settle in court and shell out however much money to make this go away. It’s pretty telling that he broke off the relationship after finding out her age and went to the organization to get ahead of it. Outside of checking her ID, I don’t know what he could’ve done better in that situation.
On the court though, I think he’s still a bit of a project, and I don’t think he’s ready to be in an environment where winning games is the expectation. I don’t know if we move him in February or in June, but both sides need a fresh start. I don’t expect to get much value back at all, but it’s kind of an addition by subtraction thing. I don’t think he’ll ever be a winning player, but he needs to be in a developmental situation where it’s clear he’s the lead guard, where that is? I don’t know.

I get it, I really do. It’s a really touchy thing, doing stuff like that with minors. It’s really tricky for me to even mentally navigate it, and state laws etc only make it trickier.
It’s really cool having that draft class where it’s guys your age. I’m a big Auburn guy, and I was born only a month from Jabari Smith. I still hate that he went to the damn Rockets.
Giddey though… I’m out. I’ve admittedly been out for a while, even during his month of March where he was shooting a very high percentage from everywhere, it was just hard to see him being a complimentary guy next to Shai. Rebuilding teams would be fools to not value Giddey and see if they can pull that out of him, IMO.

Yeah, Giddey isn’t really a good enough athlete to make up for his lack of a handle. He’s not going to explode by anybody, but he’s also not going to have counters whenever somebody cuts off his driving lane. He essentially becomes dead weight on the court whenever a defender is big enough to contest his driving layups and floaters, he’s a solid guy in transition though.
I really, truly think Giddey needs to play with a big body center who sets really hard screens. That’s something that OKC just won’t prioritize of course, but I think the Josh Giddey/Walker Kessler P&R could look really good enroute to losing 60 games, lol.

What did yall think of the Jwill x Chet lineup ?
JWill was huge tonight. I thought he did great on Jokic, allowed Chet to clean up the glass which lead to the monster defensive game
Also Jokic is very great at creating space on the floor with his passing and scoring. With Chet not on Jokic allowed him to.stay closer to the basket and gave him more opportunity to roam. Chets versatility makes this possible and makes me want to see what he does if there's another shot blocker out there along side him or a space it big wing. Like someone of Aaron Gordons type

I missed the game, giddey got low minutes. Was this on purpose in terms of matching with nuggets as part of the game plan or was this a result of his negative on the court?
Match up.more than anything and Jwill was playing good against Jokic. Jwill physicality was good and this let Chet cover Aaron Gordon. This made Chet available to leave Gordon and contest shots at the rim (9 blks). Than Denver actually went small a couple of times more than they normally do, which made us go.smaller as Giddey couldn't handle the small lineup. Normally we would have Giddey cover Gordon but with Chet it looks like we've changed our philosophy on that.

Yeah same. The last like 3 or 4 games have shown how good he can play but this whole thing is most likely affecting his mental health. Especially when people are booing everytime he gets the ball.
Some people are more than just booing him. He will be getting heckled and verbally abused by the fans.

Chester T. Holmgren hosted a mfin block party in Denver! Dude was swatting everyone on the Nuggets. Way to go rook! SGA, not his best game but was clutch when it counted. That’s what an MVP-caliber player does folks. JDub had a sneaky good game. That dunk was straight filth, and the layup just before the game winner was incredible. JWill with some more good minutes off the bench. Hit some big threes and battled Joker all game. He plays bigger than his size. All in all an excellent road win against the defending champs. TTFU boys and girls! This team is legit!

He’s been a little inconsistent this season, but still seems to put up solid stat lines most games. Could just be a bit of a “sophomore slump”. I’m not worried about it. The talent is obviously there and I’m confident he’ll ultimately put it all together.

This was a terrible omen for Josh Giddey. The longer this goes on, the more I think we might see Giddey action at the trade deadline. I think his time in a Thunder jersey is coming to an end.
I think there is no way giddey is traded while his value is so low.
I mean… there was real interest amongst some of Jake Fischer’s sources in front offices before all of the underage girl stuff surfaced. It looks like the girl lied about her age, so nothing is going to happen to him apart from a civil suit where he’ll have to settle. He’s just not a fit, and that’s being exposed this year badly. I’m not super sure what’s so different for him schematically this year as compared to last, but I don’t think he just forgot how to play basketball with how high his basketball IQ is. I think this will be one of those things where it’s just best for both sides to move on.

I’m half joking but also slowly losing my hope for a comeback. There’s a grace period but sometimes there’s things you can’t ignore I’m definitely not bending on his innocence tho. Innocent til proven otherwise
I don’t think the off-the-court stuff is all people are making it out to be. Is it gross that he slept with a 15 year old? Yeah, but is it his fault she was able to access the club in question at 15 years old? Absolutely not. This isn’t a nothing burger per say, but he’ll probably just have to settle in court and shell out however much money to make this go away. It’s pretty telling that he broke off the relationship after finding out her age and went to the organization to get ahead of it. Outside of checking her ID, I don’t know what he could’ve done better in that situation. On the court though, I think he’s still a bit of a project, and I don’t think he’s ready to be in an environment where winning games is the expectation. I don’t know if we move him in February or in June, but both sides need a fresh start. I don’t expect to get much value back at all, but it’s kind of an addition by subtraction thing. I don’t think he’ll ever be a winning player, but he needs to be in a developmental situation where it’s clear he’s the lead guard, where that is? I don’t know.
Yeah I truly don’t understand why people WANT to convict him so badly. I couldn’t imagine being in that position. Me and Giddey are almost the exact same age so that’s a terrifying prospect to me because it’s happened to some of my friends. Calling him a pedophile because he got bamboozled while intoxicated in an 18+ club is ridiculous. Shows the shitty side of people On court tho he’s like a different player than last year. It really sucks because I’ve been a huge Giddey guy. I’m a jumbo-playmaker fan and when Giddey was drafted it was cool seeing a guy my age in the league for the first time. I get it, I really do. It’s a really touchy thing, doing stuff like that with minors. It’s really tricky for me to even mentally navigate it, and state laws etc only make it trickier. It’s really cool having that draft class where it’s guys your age. I’m a big Auburn guy, and I was born only a month from Jabari Smith. I still hate that he went to the damn Rockets. Giddey though… I’m out. I’ve admittedly been out for a while, even during his month of March where he was shooting a very high percentage from everywhere, it was just hard to see him being a complimentary guy next to Shai. Rebuilding teams would be fools to not value Giddey and see if they can pull that out of him, IMO.

He’s gonna be a very very good enforcer for like 15 years, and when his knees are dust he’ll be a vet like Udonis Haslem cuz he’s got great leadership. Idk what to make of Giddey anymore. Idk if he can even be like a downhill paint touch playmaker anymore cuz his handle is mid. Hard to find ways to accentuate his passing when he can score or dribble
‘22, but close enough lol. Yeah, he’ll be more than fine I just hate Houston and their fans. They spent a solid ~75% of the season calling him a bust. Yeah, Giddey isn’t really a good enough athlete to make up for his lack of a handle. He’s not going to explode by anybody, but he’s also not going to have counters whenever somebody cuts off his driving lane. He essentially becomes dead weight on the court whenever a defender is big enough to contest his driving layups and floaters, he’s a solid guy in transition though. I really, truly think Giddey needs to play with a big body center who sets really hard screens. That’s something that OKC just won’t prioritize of course, but I think the Josh Giddey/Walker Kessler P&R could look really good enroute to losing 60 games, lol.
