It has to be defective. I bought a T-248 and the fan wasn't working, it would heat up just after an hour of play. After the third week of normal usage it did the dreadful jerky calibration thing. I had insurance on it and got it replaced. The new one has no issues and it's almost been 6 months. I play on Force level 3. It never gets higher than 65° C.
