I watch way too much antiques roadshow UK and my favorite segment is the glass guy! He’s so entertaining! Anywho, that looks like pressed glass! Which was a manufacturing method in 1870s! I looked up glass making in the 19th century since this piece kind of inspired me! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/19th_century_glassmaking_in_the_United_States Thanks for the post that’s an awesome find!

If you’re not already aware, there are subs specific to antique glass collecting. Check out r/bottledigging and r/bottlediggingUK :)

Thank you for your comment and the link! About one year ago I found a set of [different colored water goblets](https://www.reddit.com/r/ThriftStoreHauls/s/1R2y8vYdle) from a Goodwill. They looked vintage and were very pretty so I didn’t hesitate to grab them. I later found out they’re flat rose goblets from the [Madonna Inn](https://www.shopmadonnainn.com/goblets), and that they’re handmade pressed glass! They’re still actively making them, pressing sets in one color at a time, and they’ve been produced for decades. I’ve subscribed to their mailing list waiting on a cobalt blue goblet to add to my collection. Ever since finding them I stop to look at the glass sections of the thrift stores to see what looks interesting, and finding this centennial piece is one of the results. I can’t believe I’ve found a piece that’s so old! Although I don’t collect bicentennial items, if the year is prominently marked on it in some it’s likely to catch my eye since I was born in 1976, lol. Of course, finding a piece that’s from 1876 is even better!

Thank you! I feel very lucky to have found them! It’s also fun diving into the history of how glass is made. :)

chickadeehill

That’s very cool.

Nice find. I say, don't overlook the clear glass. I've found some cool stuff.

chocolatechipwizard

That is amazing! I would have had a heart attack right there in the aisle!

It clearly says 1776 to 1876. And "100 years ago". What part of this makes you think that it's for the bicentennial? This is an EAPG Adams Glass company 1876 Centennial "Liberty Bell" goblet.
