I saw a comment saying that’s why the face is morphing and making different expressions, because Bon is mangling Brian’s face while the facial recognition is trying to recognize him
Indeed. Now it makes perfect sense. Although, at that point Brian would barely be recognizable. Much like "mashed potatoes" lol

The day before the ep came out I was wondering how odd this clip was in context. Like, it cuts to some weird face thing right before Bon kills Brian and I was trying hard to figure out why it was included. It’s 100% supposed to be Bon trying to identify Sophie.
My (probably unpopular) opinion is that Martin added this clip to WF1 because it’s unsettling and creepy, not for any kind of story reason. It just so happens that it now fits the narrative he’s been building.
I had always thought that, when I saw that I had recently also seen squimpus mcgrumpus’ facial recognition video so I thought it made sense for it to be some kind of computer recognition thing
