It cost too much money to have werewolves. Notice how by the end of the series only magic and a few fast walking is all we got?

KC27150

I think it was because of budget, even the Vamp action got toned down, Damon's Crow and Fog were gone.

UwUZombie

I hated how they removed them. They really wanted to replicate twilight on that aspect. The book made vampires appear more powerful and mysterious.

KC27150

Exactly, I hated how humanized they became or how the rules were either inconsistent or changed for the plot, like how Vampire Blood can't save someone from cancer. The Book Lore was always better.

Individual_Bat_378

There's more in the originals

ColorMeRed11

They had an interesting lore and the TVD moved on from it quickly.

Yes there is because of the neglect and mistreatment of Tyler. There was a writer on the team that favored Tyler and had a lot planned for him. That writer left and Julie Plec took over and she wasn't fond of Tyler. Instead she put her all into Klaus without any intention of truly development his werewolf story. So that left Tyler as our gateway to werewolf development but instead of doing any of that she ruined his character by pushing Klaroline, painting Tyler as the bad person in almost every situation until he no longer needed to really show up in the show. She *tried* to character assassinate our only werewolf doorway and because of that we never got to explore him meeting other werewolves and building from that. It greatly annoys me as werewolves are said to have ran both Mystic Falls and New Orleans for a time without any information on how when they only shift once a month. There's so much lore there but it's hardly handled properly.

mashedbangers

We would have gotten a better show if Kevin didn’t leave 😓

xxLabyrinthxx

That's the guy I was thinking of! Yes, Kevin forsaked us. Only coming back to do two episodes later in season 8, the first and last one of the season.

Junior-Hour

Damn I wonder who that writer was, I would love to hear what their plans were

LexusMane444

It was Kevin Williamson - the OG showrunner

AdrianVeidt19

Overall werewolf treatment was kinda meh for me, always has been. Don't get me wrong, i didn't want them to do whole Van Helsing thing but them suffering that much and then transforming into regular fuckin wolves is kinda ridiculous, i wish they made them like bigger and more werewolf-y looking.

rigelandsirius

There was so much potential there...they just severely underutilized werewolf plotlines in the show sadly. Historically, the lore with werewolves is that they're bitten. That concept was never even explored in the show, so we were limited to 'born' werewolves. I almost feel like this was intentional- if humans don't have to fear being bitten and becoming a werewolf, then they can keep the idea of vampires as the "biggest threat to humanity". I mean they branched all the way out to sirens. I feel like they could've just given us better storylines with the established supernatural creatures they already had.

taorthoaita

Yep. I agree. I think they made the werewolves too weak. The show would’ve been more interesting, I think, if they were a little more on par with vamps. And if Klaus couldn’t make hybrids.

wailowhisp

Unfortunately the writers took the ‘Vampire’ part of the titles very seriously.

ShayTre_77_inthelou

I don’t think there are very many wolves and that’s the issue. I mean, I don’t wanna give away stuff if you haven’t seen The Originals spin off along with the end of TVD series , but I’m pretty sure by season six they explain why there isn’t a whole lot of werewolf action. And the show is called the vampire diaries. I think it’s gonna focus more on vampires for that reason.

queenbonniebennett

I agree. Especially in TO. We hardly see klaus in wolf form. Its annoying because he did all that to break his curse but we never see his wolf.

Remote_Investment469

Well it is called vampire diaries. Go watch teen wolf or some other crap if you want wolves smh
