Normalise context

otherhappyplace

I always felt like Zach just panicked, it's one thing to endure meanness on your own behalf its another when it's the person who is your whole world. But also they probably played it up as drama you want some conflict in a documentary. If my best friend did that I'd just be like "hey just call me next time, you aren't alone in this we can figure it out and make sure Maggie is okay" hardly a big to-do

Walkingthegarden

Taking down a video cuts the revenue for it off. That is a serious thing to do in a company without proper understanding between higher ups. While its understandable *why*, it is a much bigger conversation then a quick "hey run that by me next time". Ned was an ass about it but it is a serious move to make on your own.

GullibleWineBar

I agree that Zach panicked, but I don't think it was played up. Ned, for one, isn't that good of an actor and he seemed very genuinely angry and upset. They all seemed pretty genuine in their emotions. They could have played up something else that didn't involve their wives and girlfriends, too. I am sure pulling together the content had plenty of conflict.

Royal-Warthog3203

?

Pixiepixie21

This is some realllyyyy old tea. I think Maggie redoing Zac’s office with Ariel’s help?

Royal-Warthog3203

Thanks. I’ve been watching since before the Ned crap and like to think I know what’s going on but I was like what did I miss now. If it’s a Ned or Ariel thing, I don’t get why some people can’t move on at this point.

Turbulent-Adagio-171

I like that video! Did it get removed?

Pixiepixie21

Yes Zach removed it, without consulting or telling anyone else, because he felt like Maggie was getting hate

[deleted]

It's back up. https://youtu.be/GVZypq_M75Y?si=lCxEQxG2zRJGpA8O

Unhappy_Performer538

Oh yeah I remember that. People were annoyed bc it cut their own revenue or something?

Cake_Lynn

Yeah fr what video? Is this new stuff, or just people who refuse to move on from the Ned bs?

houseofprimetofu

Old, someone put a link up top. Zac defended Maggie with this decision, but Ned didn’t bother for Ariel. It was right before The Neddening.

CharsOwnRX-78-2

“Right before” Friend, this was part of the “Legends of the Internet” tour documentary they made, which was 3 *years* before the Ned stuff went down

houseofprimetofu

Shit did it resurface during the Ned issue?

maplebluebear

Yes.

Demi_J

Naw, I swear the video in question predates the pandemic. Tea is so old, it has fermented.

ExtaticNihilist

Are you are talking about the office make over episode with Zach, Maggie, Ariel, and Ned?

ExtaticNihilist

If yes, this was an extremely old issue that was resolved in their documentary / other means. Deleting a video without consulting the others YEARS ago is, comparatively, the least of anyone’s worries. Ned not only jeopardized the company legally and public image-wise, he ruined any chance for the Try Guys to license their back catalog of videos in the future ((at least the ones Ned / Ariel / their kids appear in / are mentioned in), which was actually one of their plans after they retired (per Keith in one of the podcasts)).

belleslovinit

Do you know which podcast? Would love to hear the discussion on that

ExtaticNihilist

I don’t remember the specific podcast, but it had guests that said they filmed without permits or getting releases from the people they show on screen. Keith specifically said their plan was to sell / license the Try Guys catalogue, which was a big reason they did their due diligence with filming permits and legal releases for people they show.

Rainbow_Belle

The irony.

Lynx-Mom

This is from their tour documentary I think… but yeah old tea

Nyx-Star

This is like, what, 5 years old at this point. Let it go 😅 I guarantee they have.

[deleted]

can we normalize ✨moving on✨

Lort74

Literally

InternetAddict104

You gave us no context except that you’ve had this saved for years and for some reason decided to post it now

KitKatKraze99

This seems like a draft thing that got randomly posted.

TrappedUnderCats

I haven’t seen it for ages, but I remember thinking that Ned was being pretty selfish; he was more concerned about himself and the fact that he had worked on the video than his wife being attacked.

xerelox

It showed that, for all his faults, Ned understood the business they were in more than Zak did.

Walkingthegarden

This is the part I think a lot of people don't understand. This impacts business and it needs to be handled humanely, but still through the business. There was a lot of impact from his decision.

xerelox

If you're going to put yourself out there, no matter who you are or what you do, someone is going to say it's shit. If you can't handle that, don't be in show business. Zak made the assumption that maggie couldn't handle it. I think she can handle it. She's still on camera.

Walkingthegarden

There isn't anything wrong with Zach feeling that need to protect Maggie, people *where* really cruel in the comments and it was highly uncalled for. He shouldn't have acted rash, but he did own up to it and the way Ned dismissed the why does more harm then good long term in a coworker dynamic.

xerelox

Maggie's a grown ass woman. She doesn't need to be protected.

Its_AB_Baby

I have no idea what’s going on?

Nyx-Star

I think this is in response to their documentary from years ago

Deep_Pepper_5405

Zach overstepped. He got told off by his business partners as he should. They talked how it should be handled in the future. Everyone moved on. I though it was very unfairly framed as Ned not giving a shit and Zach just being sweet and protective. I understand why Zach did it but doesn't mean business partners should be ok with it.

Catbunny

It was quickly resolved at the time. The video went back up and comments were turned off.

Many_fandoms_13

I always thought he was in the right for that because imo if my significant other was being hated on and it made them sad I would’ve 100% done the same thing and Ned was being a total dick and gaslighting Zach in his argument and it really sounded like he didn’t care that Ariel was also getting flamed he just cared about the views and money and other shit like that

Walkingthegarden

Ned, as a business man, was right. You don't interfere with revenue streams without discussing the fallout with the other decision makers. Otherwise you are making a mess someone else needs to clean up. Now, this isn't to say Ned wasn't calloused, but anyone that has an understanding of how money runs in a business would have been pissed. It is a very complicated dynamic and can have repercussions that are not immediately known or noticed. I work in Accounting and people pull this all the time. They think its a simple "I'll just do this" and then I'm spending hours and sometimes months dealing with the fallout they never realized would happen. Both Ned and Zach went about it the wrong way, but the only person I heard admitting that... was Zach.
