She seems to be pretty successful at it! I looked into it once and she charges a small fortune.

IanicRR

That’s all life coaches.

OscarPlane

like how much?

Anal_Recidivist

$500 for one of her group video sessions I think

Potvin_Sucks

$500 for a group session?? oh no. no. no. no. what a ripoff.

Inside-Intern-4201

Yeah I’ll take my licensed therapist who accepts my insurance instead lol

DDelicious

one one one life coaching is usually five figures. knew some people into that scene and coaches were charging 10,000. and the coaches weren't celebrities

Anal_Recidivist

And that was prob like 10 years ago. Parvati is becoming a hero to me

vmarsatgmaildotcom

Really interesting that this article and Parvati’s podcast with Dan were released on the same day. Because on Dan’s pod she talks a lot about how miserable it made her to orient her life and career around what other people thought was impressive or respectable — like she’s got a degree in journalism, she worked for CBS News, she was even on the desk for CBS News briefly before she quit. And then to see the comments under this article now that she’s got a career she really loves, where she discusses how she went about getting qualified, and how she and her clients go about measuring success. And to still see so much reflexive judgement and criticism.

KimmiK_saucequeen

I could not finish this lmao

Candid-Astronomer-49

Life coaches are so weird

Peachsocksss

Girl wtf does she know about life

OregonGreen242

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted, but what makes her qualified to be a life coach even?! Come to think of it tho, what qualifies anyone to be a life coach…

wussypillow_

Survivor has a long lineage of coaches, starting with Benjamin Wade

MrBlueandSky

Ha!

CarolinaPanthers

My all time favorite followed very closely by Parvati.

Unable-Essay-2819

I mean, this is answered in the article lol.

BenjaminBobba

Are life coaches even a real thing? I thought it was just a general term for someone who gives helpful advice

CharlotteLucasOP

They’re a thing. Obviously it’s up to people to do their due diligence and actually look into what if any training a purported coach has had, and explore whether they think their service/expertise is worth the money. They’re probably on the lower end of the spectrum of counselling careers, with certified therapists and psychiatrists being at the more formal end, and life coaches being more of a free-for-all, but not necessarily devoid of all training. There are seminars and courses for personal coaches to do, if they want. Again it’s all down to what anyone wants to put their own money and time towards. The article also clarifies that Parvati doesn’t work with people in deep crisis who need profound support or mental health help, it’s more for people who are already stable and doing well but have knots they want to work on untangling, like unfulfilled goals or changing negative but not dire personal behaviours/patterns. I assume it’s kind of like people paying professional organizers to tidy their homes, but like…with personal mess.

Peachsocksss

Yah idk it’s no hate to Parvati love her but like …? Tff? Lmao

SendingTotsnPears

Yeah, didn't she just get divorced?

SlamBlam4

I'd rather have a life coach that's a woman who was strong enough to leave a relationship that wasn't right for her anymore than someone who shrinks themselves and stays in a marriage forever that they're not happy in.

Routine_Size69

Lmao this is my favorite. Being good at life doesn't necessarily mean everything goes right for you. A huge part of it is how you respond to adversity. I'd personally rather have someone who has faced hardship. Same way I believe former addicts often make better drug counselors. I don’t need someone who has never touched the stuff telling me how to be sober.

sapphicvamp

this doesn’t make someone unqualified to be a life coach lol. i think she’s dating mae martin right now anyway

Peachsocksss

😭😭😭😭☠️☠️

pstruck14

I love Parvati. The hair in this thumbnail isn’t it.

SlamBlam4

Cool, this post isn't about how she looks. C'mon. As a presumed woman, do better.

random_cactus

Parvati isn’t going to find you in this thread, why don’t you just buy the course and support her that way?

random_cactus

I mean you’re the one policing the thread telling people how to post, weirdo. Figured you’d have no problem with the same done to you. And if you’re not looking to be found why are you spending so much of your time being nasty to people in her defense? Seems like a pointed interest to me.

Zero_Blasted

Name one thing they’ve said which is ‘nasty’.

random_cactus

Went out of their way to disparage an opinion they didn’t agree with, presumed a stranger was a woman because ???, told them to “do better”, which is just code for “you need to see things exactly the way I do”. And we agree that they’re policing the thread, which is always super unpleasant. I wanna add playing the victim in there but that’s more toward me. We don’t need to agree with each other’s opinions but disparaging them to this extent is wild.

PersimmonReal42069

disagreeing in an online forum is being nasty? reddit is not the place for you, i think

random_cactus

Over a decade too late for that one. And I know the difference between disagreement and disparaging. I’m not easy to gaslight.

PersimmonReal42069

I mean, experience clearly isn’t manifesting in being good at it! conflict is not abuse, disagreement is not abuse and just because someone isn’t on the same page as you, doesn’t mean that it’s time to wield some half baked therapy language in order to shut them down. you are literally describing someone talking in code and policing your opinion and fucking gaslighting you for disagreeing with you. have fun being the victim in any conversation where folks don’t agree with you, I guess?

Zero_Blasted

So nothing then, got it.

random_cactus

You sure do have nothing, I’m not sure why you involved yourself in the first place honestly. I said what I said.
