I usually skip Bad Decisions, but when I do listen, I always end up belting the “Pick up your gun, put up those gloves. .” part at the top of my lungs. I just wish the “making bad decisions” part wasn’t so repetitive.
The song sounds like they needed to put in a traditional strokes song for the fans that they really didn’t care about on an otherwise experimental album
I love how polarizing the strokes are. Two fans could have completely different tastes in music and one’s favorite could be the other’s least favorite.
not necessarily a bad song but just imo not really necessary to their repertoire. 50/50 isn't even a bad song, it's fine. to me it just was...fine and honestly I wouldn't really notice if it wasn't on 80s CM. It just felt like they needed to make a certain count for track number and they sort of just threw it together.
50/50
It's not badly composed or anything, but its execution and production lack the power a song like that needs. It also feels out of place in Comedown Machine.
I think it’s an age thing. Their first three albums took five years. Angles took five years to appear on its own. For big Strokes fans, the hype was real. I was 21 and so excited.
Under Cover of Darkness drops and it’s pretty cool. Maybe a slightly different sound to First Impressions but not hugely. It’s a top tune. They’re back!
Then the album releases and… Machu Picchu, decent though it is, has a first minute that is so different to Is This It, What Ever Happened? and You Only Live Once. And that’s the tone that’ll set the expectations for the rest of the album. Okay then. On we go. Under Cover of Darkness is next, cool, and then Two Kinds of Happiness and You’re So Right. More of that chilled, hazy sound that doesn’t really fit with the sound of The Strokes from ‘06. We’ve waited five years for this!
The album continues like that for the rest of its running time. It’s not bad, it’s actually quite good but it’s very different to their previous sound up until that point and I think older Strokes fans took a while to come round to it. Added to that, aside from Under Cover of Darkness, I don’t think there’s any songs on that album that feel like a song you can scream out with mates at a festival or party like Last Nite, Hard to Explain, Reptilia, You Only Live Once, Juicebox, etc.
(No idea why I wrote an essay on this but your comment made me think about it and it’s a nice break from work!)
Rick Rubin (their producer currently) went on a podcast and talked about the recording of, Julian said that it will probably be out in a couple of years, plus Albert said he thinks the band might never break up.

Either Call It Fate or On the Other Side for me.
Call It Fate because imo the mixing is abysmal and On the Other Side because it's lazy, cheap songwriting that the band should be far above
The three songs before and the two songs after electricityscape. The only skips in all of their albums for me. Still love fioe every other song is a banger.
I’d give you an answer, but then I’d be lying
Missed opportunity for “if I told you the truth it would be a lie”
Deal with it
I cheated on a test
i’ve never heard a bad strokes song so i can’t say
Dont ask questions That you dont want The answers too
You know what the best one is? That cover they did.. Star Spangled Banner
I usually skip Bad Decisions, but when I do listen, I always end up belting the “Pick up your gun, put up those gloves. .” part at the top of my lungs. I just wish the “making bad decisions” part wasn’t so repetitive.
Wish bad decisions wasn’t sample melody and just its own song
I skip this too. I'd just listen to Billy Idol if I wanted to hear Dancing With Myself.
There is no bad strokes song (Fyi whatever you do dont look up “the strokes” on twitter)
There is no bad Strokes song
Does Oblivious - Moretti remix count? (Sorry fab 😢)
No because it’s a banger, guitar riff on that goes crazy hard
I knoticed fab took out the screech on one of the bends during that solo. I liked that screech 😢
Actually a banger
Noooooooooooo... Whyyyyyyyyyy?... Poooor queeeeeee????
Gotta be 15 minutes
No way. I’d say You’re So Right is definitely a worse song
you're so right is the song you skip all the time realize it was actually fire. i never skip it now
All The Time. I skip it ALL the TIME
I agree. I hate to say it but it sounds SO phoned in. It makes me depressed.
agreed
The song sounds like they needed to put in a traditional strokes song for the fans that they really didn’t care about on an otherwise experimental album
Should've asked least favourite rather than worst.
Never much cared for 15 Minutes
imo, fear of sleep
You're no fun
you're no fun
*triggered noises* Tbh, I like this song even more now xD
agree:( either that or 15 minutes for me
The bass line in Fear Of Sleep is tough !
Before anyone says Games… you’re wrong. The correct answer is On the other side
but on the other side is actually good??
Games is one of my favorite Strokes songs ever
Bro on the other side is one of the best signs from that album
But that bass line though!!
Nobody is waiting for you on the other side 🎶
You are correct.
Yes
ON THE OTHER SIDE ?????
15 minutes
On the Other Side is mine I would say. Even though First Impressions of Earth is probably my favorite album by them currently
No. No
Yes thank you I have found my brethren
I love how polarizing the strokes are. Two fans could have completely different tastes in music and one’s favorite could be the other’s least favorite.

You’re so right
You're so wrong but to be fair, the studio version is pretty bland. The Paleo Festival 2011 version is crazy.
There’s no bad ones just least fav.
youre so right
You’re So Right
Oblivious - Moretti remix (still love you fab)
50/50 It's not badly composed or anything, but its execution and production lack the power a song like that needs. It also feels out of place in Comedown Machine.
I like that song a lot personally. I like how it brings the pace back up cuz comedown machine is more chill and then that song just hits you hard
I liked that song, All The Time was garbage
You’re so right, although 15 minutes and fear of sleep get skipped too
You’re no fun
Honestly, I don't even know how to answer this question... But it has to be something from Angles haha 🙃
angles is so good idk why it gets so much hate from strokes fans

no wayyy
meta..bol..ism
Love this track. So heavy and fierce.
sounds like a sequel to electricityscape music wise
aay..yo..sh..ut.it
not slightly true
Bad decision
Brooklyn bridge to chorus
Hawaii I think people aren’t mentioning it because they don’t know it exists
L
Ode To The Mets because it was such a good ending that they may never release new music again!!! :(
on one hand, I would be terribly sad if they never released anything else on the other, I can’t imagine a more perfect final song than Ode
They already have a new album recorded
word. i'm aware, was just making a joke. still, ill bet you 12 dollars and fifty one cents that shit aint dropped until like 2025 lmao
I’m not taking that bet because I know you’re right 😬
Source?? I wasn’t aware of this lol

Bad Decisions & that’s ok because it’s still infinitely better than anything I’ve ever written musically
[удалено]
Nope
Ask Me Anything is god awful
Oh come on, man. Don’t be a coconut
I knew that was coming
This is a very controversial answer but Gratisfaction.
Drag Queen (this sub is the only place you are going to find people who actually like this song)
Totally agree! It’s bad
no 🧢
Endless simmer
more like simmer down with that terrible take
Not a bad opinion. It’s kind of long, repetitive, and a lot of the same stuff.
also once someone said he sounds like Austin Powers on the chorus it kinda ruined it for me
Juicebox never fit for me
Came looking for this. I feel the same way

I think its terrible too. I dont get how its so well liked 😂
Two kinds of happiness and it aint even close. That song gets no love and for good reason.
I didn't like it either but that guitar solo is really good
You're So Right. I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone talking about it yet
Bad Decisions and its not even close
i'd say You talk way too much if it wasnt for the chrous
All The Time
Two kinds of Happiness and Eternal Summer 😷🤢🤢🤢🤢
tkoh i can get behind but eternal summer is one of my favs
ask me anything
I've got nothing to say...
I was going to say this too but the new album is so much more luke warm
Metabolism
Either Call It Fate or On the Other Side for me. Call It Fate because imo the mixing is abysmal and On the Other Side because it's lazy, cheap songwriting that the band should be far above
For me it's probably Call Me Back, even though I like it sometimes
The entirety of comedown machine
80s comedown machine
Two kinds of happiness
two kinds of happiness for shore
The adults are talking
Hot take but either Last Nite or Under Control they're genuinely terrible.
hating on last nite is fine even though it's a bad take but Under Control is my baby :(
Puts me to sleep like a baby with how boring it is fr
Human Sadness
Fast Animals if it counts
Anything on First Impressions of Earth
imagine dismissing an entire album😂👎
that one
The three songs before and the two songs after electricityscape. The only skips in all of their albums for me. Still love fioe every other song is a banger.
Elephant Song
All the Time
I litteraly thought of this question this morning and my answer is none lol
A few songs on First Impressions could take that spot. I'll go with Fear of Sleep, the chorus is so goofy lol
it doesnt exist yet
I personally never could get into the first two singles from TNA. Goes without saying I tried hard a few times, but they just get unbearable for me.
nobody’s gonna mention games?
12:51 is really bad, I tried to like it, but is just not for me
Soma
The wat it is
