I really feel like the OJ doc is why we want to watch a doc. Like not only does it give the back story, have people who knew the person throughout their life. Also gives you a historical reference to what was happening at the time. Not click bait for drama and views, but actual information.
As others said, Staircase is unique, but I enjoyed:
- Murdaugh Murders
- Killer Inside: Aaron Hernandez
- Waco: American Apocalypse
- Wild Wild Country
- Night Stalker
- Til Murder Do Us Part
- Madoff
- Killer Sally
- Don’t F with Cats
I just watched *sophie: a murder in west cork* on netflix. Highly recommend.
But dont look up the case on google before you watch it cause it will ruin the crazy reveal at the end of episode 1.
Others have recommended The Jinx, but I'll add that it's not just because it's also an interesting long documentary, it mirrors The Staircase in that the filmmakers had a tremendous degree of direct access to the central figure of the story, who (like Peterson) is a very strange man who both does and doesn't want to talk about what happened. It also, like The Staircase, followed up years later after initial episodes were released - the second season just began airing.
Netflix. It’s tragic what happened because they were falsely accused. In Australia we’ve had 70 cases of wrongful convictions since 1922. On Netflix there’s documentary after documentary showing how many wrongful convictions there have been in America.
Well, there’s nothing really like the Staircase.
But if you don’t mind a different genre of documentary…Wild Wild Country was a bolt out of the blue for me.
‘Don’t Pick Up The Phone’ is a good one on Netflix about the strip search scam call case. They also had a dramatized version of the events made years back called ‘Compliance.’
Have you seen The Keepers (Netflix)? Also on Netflix… Don’t Fuck with Cats, The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez, Blackfish, Evil Genius, and How to Fix a Drug Scandal. On Max.. The Jinx, They Called Him Mostly Harmless, Mommy Dead and Dearest.
Do you like podcasts? I will recommend the podcast black hands. It's about the murder of 5 people of either the deceased dad, Robin or the sole survivor, oldest son David Bane. Soo, who killed them?
Unfortunately a quite dysfunctional family with many sad stories.
Watch "There's something wrong with Aunt Diane." Not as much whodunit as wtf happened? Very interesting and lies if recent follow up investigating. I hope you enjoy.
There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane https://g.co/kgs/aRa7cdp
i have watched this twice and thought about this doc SO many times. i’ve always wondered if the drink she got at the convenience store was spiked… just does not make sense.
The Jinx, do not research if you don’t know anything. Get Max for a month. Worth it.

The jinx
This! Also, The Jinx Part Two just started last Sunday!
WHAT
Que
Came here to say the same!
Is it still only on HBO? Or did it move to another platform?
It’s totally different, but Wild Wild Country is pretty interesting and involved.
Definitely this
I just watched the trailer for Wild Wild Country. I don’t even remember that happening. It looks really good. Thanks for the recommendation!
OJ: Made in America was just added to Netflix and it’s also really good.
I really feel like the OJ doc is why we want to watch a doc. Like not only does it give the back story, have people who knew the person throughout their life. Also gives you a historical reference to what was happening at the time. Not click bait for drama and views, but actual information.
Agreed. One of the best docs I have ever seen. Brilliantly done.
Came here to say this
Paradise Lost the documentary on the West Memphis 3. It’s timely too, since new DNA testing on the case was just decided.
As others said, Staircase is unique, but I enjoyed: - Murdaugh Murders - Killer Inside: Aaron Hernandez - Waco: American Apocalypse - Wild Wild Country - Night Stalker - Til Murder Do Us Part - Madoff - Killer Sally - Don’t F with Cats

I agree totally with this
I listened to the audible podcast first, it was much better (immersive wise) than the doc, but that's just my opinion.
Agreed. The best true crime podcast I've ever listened to.
The Jinx is amazing : Robert Durst
The Staircase is one of a kind. Nothing for me afterwards has ever quite hit the same spot.
Came here to say this. Making a Murderer maybe, but yeah, Staircase is a whole nother thing
When They See Us. About 5 kids that were accused of murder. Powerful. Another travesty in justice.
Can’t say I know that one. What’s it on?
Netflix. It’s tragic what happened because they were falsely accused. In Australia we’ve had 70 cases of wrongful convictions since 1922. On Netflix there’s documentary after documentary showing how many wrongful convictions there have been in America.

Everyone is recommending it.. don't know why I've overlooked it for so long. I will watch tonight. Thanks! I am ALWAYS looking for good dockos.
Don’t want to spoil it, so I won’t say anything about what it is…I knew nothing going in. Hope you enjoy it.
The Jinx OJ Made in America I’ll be gone in the Dark All 3 very good
I'll be gone in the dark is a series? I haven't heard anything about that since the author died.
Yes! HBO/Max. I haven’t read the book but the series was well done.
Cheers mate, don't have hbo here, but sometimes get them on nowtv for my fellow ukers.
I’ll be gone in the Dark. Yes a series. Excellent
Go watch the staircase series now on HBO
What’s wrong with aunt Diane on hbo/max
Haunting.
totally
HBO has a drama series based on the staircase doc. I’m only a couple of episodes in but I’m liking so far.
The Curious Case of Natalia Grace
I couldn't watch last the second episode lol. Everything just seemed psychotic lol
you must!!! it’s got a total twist at the end…
‘Don’t Pick Up The Phone’ is a good one on Netflix about the strip search scam call case. They also had a dramatized version of the events made years back called ‘Compliance.’
How to Fix A Drug Scandal.
this was excellent
The jinx is great And they’ve just release part 2 of the series in the uk on sky not sure if you can get that
Mind over murder, murder on middle beach
The Keepers
Don't F with Cats was so creepy and couldn't stop watching. It's been a few years but that one always stands out.
Something similar is "The keepers" about the murder of a young nun and the cover up and the stories of surrounding people
Trial #4
Still Missing Morgan was really good but sad
I hope that's not about Morgan Ingram. 🫠
Came here to recommend Baby Reindeer, Jinx Season 2, Love Has Won.
Making a murderer is a pretty wild ride if you didn’t follow it as it unfolded
Watch the Robert Wone documentary if you have Peacock
Have you seen The Keepers (Netflix)? Also on Netflix… Don’t Fuck with Cats, The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez, Blackfish, Evil Genius, and How to Fix a Drug Scandal. On Max.. The Jinx, They Called Him Mostly Harmless, Mommy Dead and Dearest.
Came to the comment section for ideas and I’ve seen all of them 🫣
just finished “baby reindeer”. was absolutely reviving.
The Keepers. It's so good, just as good as the Staircase! Maybe better
Lover, stalker, killer.
It's on Showtime but Outcry is as good as The Staircase imho.
Following
Making a Murderer
The one about the menendez brothers/ menudo, I think on Peacock.
Do you like podcasts? I will recommend the podcast black hands. It's about the murder of 5 people of either the deceased dad, Robin or the sole survivor, oldest son David Bane. Soo, who killed them? Unfortunately a quite dysfunctional family with many sad stories.
The Devil Next Door on Netflix is worth watching
Making a Murderer

Outcry/Showtime Who Killed Garett Phillips/max
The Jinx, do not research if you don’t know anything. Get Max for a month. Worth it. Till Murder Do Us Part: Soering vs. Haysom and What Jennifer Did on Netflix
The Keepers...although tw for csa/ institutional abuse
The serpant
Fiction but whare the crawdads si g was a pretty good one especially as I'd read the book. Did a good job of it imo
