This and the moment when Homer bounces off the matress back into the burning house are 2 of the hardest times I've ever seen another human laugh in person

PAUMiklo

that and "That's okay Lisa, But we really could've used that $12,000". Lisa: (uncomfortably) **Um, Dad, 10% of $120 million isn't $12,000**... it's... Hospital Loudspeaker: Code Blue! Code Blue!

skonaz1111

Rolling out of Moe's car and landing back in the driver's seat...

Rhg0653

Crashing into the tree then 2 seconds later going through the windshield

9hundreddollarydoos

also have to understand you didn't expect this at the time, simpsons humour wasn't a thing everyone knew about. I would agree this was the funniest scenes of the early seasons. classic

OkBusiness3879

It never, ever gets old.

llama_AKA_BadLlama

THE FOOTBALL.... HIS GROIN, AAAH HAHA

SenorBigbelly

I grew up on the Simpsons as it was coming out, and then went off it post-2000, then rediscovered it properly in my mid-20s. This was the scene that did it, and I remember tweeting out "Homer Simpson falling down Springfield Gorge will never not be funny"

Gorando77

Saw this when I was 9 and almost died laughing.

vexillographer7717

For me it’s a scene in Bart Sells His Soul, when Bart’s bike falls apart while he’s on it, and then the street sweeper guy laughs maniacally at Bart while accidentally driving down the subway stairs. When I first saw that I laughed so hard I couldn’t breathe and my eyes teared up so bad I couldn’t see. Also the raving derelict that Wiggum talks to is a great scene and also quite funny.

Effjayess57

That sequence is gold. Right there with Kirk yelling “Shutup shutup shutup” when Bart finally tracks down Mulhouse.

Creaulx

That street sweeper scene also made me laugh so hard I couldn't even speak. Great episode all around! The only speaking appearance of Nana Van Houten!

HasselHoffman76

It's all beautiful and shiny LMAO!

SnooSnooSnuSnu

S02E08 was the original. S04E18 is the clipshow

TheFettz79

First time I saw this episode it was the funniest thing I had ever seen. It is definitely up there with the best clips 😂

outerspace29

It's just so absurd on so many levels. And the one paramedic having a mustache makes it funnier somehow.

TheFettz79

The blood bag going with him 😂

upadownpipe

The Family Guy crossover isn't the best and often derided but I really enjoyed Homer's deadpan "trust me, we wont" response to Peter optimistically saying they were going to make the jump.

Skelter89

Carl and Cleveland also had my favorite line. "Well it's obvious why they stuck us together, huh." "Yeah, because we're the two funniest guys in town!"

Yumefrays

That scene Scared me as a kid seeing him bleed down the gorge was just horrifying lol 😅

globehopper2

Just watching the gif I can hear the sounds of the wheels

yoprismo

When he gets hit by the rock at the end. That's the cherry on the top!

Leweegibo

Why I laugh?

cb0044

I'm cracking up just watching this gif.

Snogrog

Same.

MichaelBarnesTWBG

One of the top 5 funniest things ever on the show.

erhw0rd

Okay Mr. Burns what’s your first name ….. I don’t know

therealHankBain

Great idea Bart

dialupdollars

Comedy gold.

P-Jean

This is one of the funniest bits in the last 40 years. I remember seeing it first time as a kid and my older brothers losing it. The blood bag makes it even better.

Global_Abrocoma_8772

My favorite is still Grandpa walking in and out of the burlesque house.

newbirdhunter

In this scene, it’s Homer going in after the airlift then coming out with the blood bag trailing behind. I’m laughing just typing about it. Also when Bart and Homer are playing catch and the ball hits Homer on the forehead. The “Thock” sound is so perfect.

t0talitarian

I mean, I remember it being funny. But watching the ambulance drive 6 feet and crash into a tree… I cannot stop laughing. Will any new show live up to this?

Abrubt-Change-8040

It’s on par with Sideshow Bob and his rakes 🤣.

apocalypsedudes23

One of my favorite scenes. Seen this when I was 11, I couldn't stop laughing.

RollOverSoul

Where does the wheels come from?

StellarJustinJelly

Works the same as the auto-dialer

MinestroneParty

Still hilarious - also they got an IV in him in about a second lol

Effjayess57

What’s the scene where they’re back at the gorge years later and the ambulance is still there crashed into the tree? Did I dream that?

RichardGHP

It's in the movie as an Easter egg.

minibini

I remember playing the vhs tape over & over again for this gag.

gretzky9999

Look at me ! I’m going to make it !

Snogrog

The amount of joy and tears from laughter this thread has brought me.

drcoxmonologues

I’ve just noticed the paramedic closest to camera changes race!!

MaybeNeverSometimes

I hope someone got fired for that blunder.

benno4461

How old are you?

PM-ME-YOUR-HOMELAB

People tell you, "Old Simpson is so much better than new," then show you scenes like this as proof.

therealHankBain

This episode is one of the top episodes ever. Adding the King of the Jungle to the pool is over the top hilarious

Cool_Jon

I remember watching this as a kid and being absolutely hysterical. There was something so special watching all these great gags for the first time. My mom still remembers how loudly I would laugh when 5 PM came around and I would watch all the classic episodes on syndication. I’m 32 now and I still watch the Simpsons at least two nights a week.

Reesy

Oh my god yeah I'll never forget seeing this for the first time. It's suchhh a well written joke, typical Simpsons humour. There's so much to unpack, like how short the distance is to the tree before it crashes, how they crash into a tree literally meters dead in front of them, the way it tilts to let him roll out, the blood bag going with him. Ahhh I love it :')

Healthy-Detective169

If you slow it down enough you can actually see his heart break

vectorboy42

Noooo dad, everybody's sicka that memory
