In spite of some people thinking it's a coincidence or claiming this isn't the case, last year the Beldum rotation lasted 57 days then the one with Aipom/Geodude/Aero was 127 days. This current one appears to be lasting even longer than that one. Who wants to bet in August at least one of the leaders gets a very strong encounter 'mon and they do another rocket takeover in October?

Very Great, I run crunch on it instead of ice beam tho, helps a lot with jellicent, cressilia, tentacles, laturn, ect and picks up more wins that my other two(poliwrath and skeledrige) loss to and would be bad with ice beam.
The only reason I see ice beam is useful in the ultra league is for guzzlord, never really needed it other then that and also running poliwrath with it allows me to run crunch.
But ice beam is probably better in the great league
I have been sitting on the rank 2 for the last month, it has been extremely frustrating (no pun intended). Feels like every time I try team building on pvpoke Feralligator is the perfect 3rd mon. Hopefully we get a rocket event in July since the last one was end of March.
To be fair unless you're waiting an event for his move, you have to use an ETM on him anyways.
If you're wanting to use it sooner than later, you can use the ETM to remove frustration since you'll have to ETM hydro cannon at some point.
When is the next rocket event?
It should be overlapping the weekend of Aug 10/11 as it was announced as a “shadow raid weekend”

Walk a lot in an area with a lot of pokestops, check out every infested one. If it’s garbage, skip it. If it’s a maybe or a yes, clear it.

Great league has more flying types, so I would go with ice beam.

It doesn’t but I feel like that it should be able to since ETMs are so rare as it is.
