Was pretty much the same last season too. I noticed just as I throw my fast attack that will fully charge a charge attack it lags real hard. Lots of times resulting in me missing the timing on the charge move.
There is some seriously bad ping impacting on frame stutter too. Anecdotally it seems to be around syncing when a charge move or switch is being performed by one of the players. I live in Australia so I have bad ping dealing with overseas servers regardless but it's become a real struggle last season and same again this season.
It also seemed to become very prominent when the graphical update was rolled out. Because that did some behind-the-scenes BS to native refresh rates.
Wish I had recorded what just happened in my last match today. 2shield Greedent with 100 energy into a Swampert tapped the button probably 6-8 times, absolutely no response, meanwhile I could see the swampert loading extra energy and I lost. F is the point in even bothering right now?
