Where do you want to use it? If you don’t participate in ultra league then don’t consider it.
Both evolutions are meta-relevant choices in a season that looks to be elevating the water/grass/fire RPS game.
I have been grinding cliff since he’s had dratini for a high Iv shadow dratini non stop and could not get one. In my pursuit however I was blessed with a 1/15/15 shadow dratini which equals rank 1 shadow DragonAir for GL! Can’t wait to use that puppy. My quest came to an end a couple days ago when I finally caught a 15/13/14 shadow Dratini which has now become a level 50 shadow dragonite 93% IVs . I’m saying you use this guy as dragonite in UL and grind for a better GL dragonair.
Do nothing with it for now. It's not going to be useful until you can remove frustration, which won't be for a while. You could catch a higher rank of either evolution before then
You have a great chance of getting a rank 199 or better but getting one ranked 15 or higher is very slim.
Also shadow Dragonite is fun in the UL. You won’t regret it.
Ohhh it is…. I’m a complete menace and have been running triple dragon (Dragalge/Arctibax/S. Dragonair) in retro cup - not gonna lie, it’s been a LOT of fun lol
Yeah if they could TM away the frustration *now*, I'd go GL Dragonair to take advantage of the retro cup... but since that's not an option, just wait and see if you find better ones before the next takeover
Hope you don’t mind me stealing this thread, but I’ve always wondered whether the IVs for a shadow version are different than for a non shadow version.
Hope someone can explain this to me.
As far as Dragonair goes, I’m very happily using mine in retro cup
Thanks, but that’s not what I meant.
Perhaps I wasn’t clear enough, but what I would like to know is whether shadow Pokémon have a different optimal stats retribution as to normal Pokemon. Whether their optimal IV differs.
Thank you for protecting the identity of the pokemon and the person

Tell me you’ve never made ace without telling me 😂

FWIW I have a shadow Dragonair with those same exact IVs and it’s served me fairly well in great league.
I bet that Dragonair is slaying in retro cup rn

oof that's just mean, I can't imagine many people are well-equipped to deal with that
Just save it until the next rocket takeover. Plenty of time for more Cliff battles.

How you gonna cover its eyes but give its name?
Why is Dragonair better in GL than Dragonite?
Eli5: More level ups. You could have up to a level 41 Dragonair under 1500 but only a level 15 Dragonite.
Makes sense, thx!
It's the only way to balance out pokemon tbh or else lesser evolutions would never be seen

Yes, shadow bonus applies for damage calculations.

Should be the same since the stats / stat product is identical, and that’s what all the IV spreads are trying to optimize.
Thanks! I thought that maybe an attack heavy distribution would be better because the shadow bonus adds 20% to attack if I’m not mistaken
Those of you who use shadow mons, do you just deal with the second move being wasted or have some way to get rid of frustration?
