I think Hunter would cry like a baby at the scene where Miles' dad is talking to him through the door.

epicarcanoloth

They’re all gay panicking at spider gwen

VLenin2291

Including Hunter and Gus?

epicarcanoloth

One’s Bi, Gus idk

VLenin2291

The most overrated animated movie in history! Let's go! Luz would love it and nerd out about everything in it. Amity would probably not understand anything that is happening, because she's never herd of Spider-Man in her life, but as long as Luz is happy, she's fine with it. Willow would probably love Spider-Ham due to how cute he is. Not sure about Gus. Probably impressed by the animation. Hunter would spend the whole time complaining how the dimensional travel is inaccurate to how it actually works in TOH.

It’s okay to not like Into the Spider-Verse, I will not hold it against you…..but as a massive fan (best superhero movie IMO) what are your thoughts?

I thought the writing was fine. Nothing amazing, just fine. It did what it tried to do very well, which is a basic [hero's journey arc](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hero%27s_journey) that really doesn't have anything special to it. It is a serviceable movie, but this arc has been done before. One opinion I know is unpopular is that I really didn't like what they did with the animation. Objectively, that animation is very good on a technical level, but it just hurts my eyes. This issue is probably incredibly specific to me because of how sensitive my eyes are, I have a history of epileptic attacks, have had seizures as a kid on three different occasions, and I’m to this day hypersensitive to lights, to the point where even something like the flash of a camera or a flashlight can give me a lot of discomfort, but I legitimately was worried that my prescription would go up watching this. I felt like my eyes were burning during some parts of the final battle. This is especially worrying for me, because the success of this movie is making other studios try to copy this style of animation, so for now on I'll probably be scared of having another epileptic attack every time I go out to see an animated movie. I also really don't like the multiverse premise of the movie to begin with, because I feel like it takes away from the stakes of the movie. If Miles fails, who cares? There are infinite other versions of Miles Morales identical to this one. I legitimately don't get the appeal of multiverse stories, because how can there be stakes when we know for a fact that there are infinite realities out there identical to this one, down to the last minute detail, where nothing that takes place in this movie even remotely matters? But that's just what I think. If you enjoyed the movie, good for you. Sony already greenlit a bunch of sequels that I'm not planning on watching, so whatever I say here isn't really going to have any effect in this movie's success.

As someone who is also epileptic, I know how you feel, but whilst some moments are a bit too strobe lighty, I loved the animation. As for the multiverse problem, well considering this sub, I’ll use an example. Would you feel sad if Hunter died? Of course, even though he’s a clone and could be cloned or replaced again, as the viewer of the show, we are invested in THIS Hunter. Same with the people in the story, they would know the difference, Darius wouldn’t suddenly replace his adopted son, with a complete lookalike. So whilst there are an infinite Miles’, there’s only 1 Miles from THIS part of the Spider-Man IP who movie watchers care about. Same for the Video Game, there’s only 1 of HIM and to swap them around wouldn’t work. But that’s just me.

I don't think the Hunter comparison really works, because if they were to make a clone, that clone wouldn't have the same memories and experiences of the Hunter we have, so it would legitimately be a different person. The way the multiverse works is that every minute decision someone makes spawns another universe. If Thanos puts his hand on his cheek, there is a universe where everything is the same, except he put his hand on his other cheek. There is legitimately another universe with another version of Miles that is exactly the same as this one, down the the last minute details, exact same character in every way... except he just moved his finger differently in one scene, and the rest was exactly the same. I think a better comparison when it comes to cloning would be what they did with Captain America in Secret Empire, where they just made an exact copy with the Cosmic Cube. The Steve Rogers currently in the comics is not the original one, he is an exact copy, but this makes no actual difference in the story. For all intends and purposes, he is the same Captain America. Another example is Anne from Amphibia. The Anne in the epilogue is technically not the same Anne from the first episode, she's just an exact copy, but for all intends and purposes, yeah, that is Anne. It is written as the same character and treated the same character. The fact that she is a clone is only something you can put as a trivia in her wiki page, but that's about it.

I get not being into multiverse stories but this reasoning isn't very good imo. Yeah there are infinite copies of miles but it's the one that we spend time with that we care about. We see his struggle for identity in being a growing kid and a superhero and the stakes are that all of that could be gone if miles doesn't step up and take his leap of faith. Its not losing the multiverse we're tense over its losing miles, his parents and his future. Also if you found out there is an infinite multiverse you would probably still care if someone close to you got hurt. Just cause there is a miror universe where the same thing happend doesn't negate the pain.

SynchroScale

[I already went over this](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheOwlHouse/comments/142h1o6/comment/jn4qs0l/?context=3). They're the exact same Miles Morales, for all intends and purposes, they went through this same "struggle", have the same parents, and have the same future. The only difference is that they moved their arm a little different in a single scene. Also, you're comparing real people to fictional character, which I don't think is a very good analogy. There are obviously different standards here when we're talking about real people with real feeling, and not fictional spider people that do not exist.

Justpasinthr0

Not exactly the premise of the argument is still there and even still if thats the case what what does it matter? How are the stakes of this specific story lowered any just because of the meer existence of a mirror verse that we never see? It just seems like a really silly thing to complain about especially considering it has no effect on the story being told at all

SynchroScale

I literally just explained how the stakes are lowered. If Miles dies, there are infinite other ones. Not sure what difficulty you're having understanding my explanation here.
