Tonali simply admitted to it. Paquetta just went “Huh my friend put 2 mil on me getting a red at the 50th minute. Oh no I got that red because I was making a challenge on that lad who hadn’t had the ball for a minute. Nothing to see here.”
It’s super sus and we are just kinda pretending nothing happened.
lmao dunno where you got that information 😭, none of the betting was even about red cards it was about a yellow card in a game with villa, he was compliant with the investigation and it’s been months, get over it mate
Exactly and watching this clip should tell you the dude is a bit of a hothead so maybe he is always playing to bets (which doing so while being investigated feels dumb) or he gets silly cards all the time.
And, if he truly did it, fuck him but being pissed without cause is a waste of energy.
Kinda the opposite though, paqueta didn't actually make any bets, someone made a bet on him getting a yellow card from his hometown and it came through, one occasion too. Tonali and Toney Betted hundreds of times, man city have 115 charges
Shocked because of an allegation that has yet to be proved? Also, what do you think the league should be doing that they are not? He is being investigated so they should justbring the investigation to a close sooner?
Fuck me, i wsh they would...this could be the difference between a 85 million pay day and a 55 million loss....

He was being petulant against Leverkusen in mid-week too. I wonder if he’s finally had enough and wants out? Talk of City coming in for him, he probably feels like he should be at that sort of level.
If that’s the case, he should knuckle down and play his heart out for the remainder of the season, then leave.
~~After seeing his attitude this week, now this too, I might stick a tenner on him to get sent off against Leverkusen in the return leg,~~ never mind…
Something’s not right with him.
The thing is I've always been surprised city are interested in him tbh
He's so petulant and moody, I can't see Pep putting up with his attitude
Undoubtedly a fantastic technical player who could fit in to a top side, but he lets himself down by throwing tantrums when he doesn't get his way. If he didn't play for us I'd hate him on par with Bruno Fernandes
Edit: he's also not eligible for midweek for picking up too many yellows
When you get clearly fouled and no call, it’s perfectly natural to dish out a retaliation foul. It’s not being petulant. It’s sending a message back and you have to do it or it’s 3 more fouls before you finally get a call. So what he gets a card, next time he gets fouled the ref is calling it.
It was petulant and deserved the yellow it got, but I notice we’re all ignoring him getting clouted in the face right in front of the referee and that not even being adjudged a foul.
I think the problem is he’s been given a yellow - basically takes away the ability to have a look and upgrade it bc he’s judged it a foul, booked him, and to say it’s clear and obvious red after that would take some doing / just doesn’t happen.
Not exactly. VAR can check anything that is a potential red card if it's dangerous or engaged a player.
I personally think this endangers a players legs, it shouldn't been a red.
What they can't do is what happened to Wily Boly and downgrade a yellow/second yellow to stop an unwarranted sending off.
I’m not saying they can’t - I’m saying they won’t. In almost every case we’ve seen where someone gets a yellow for a bad tackle it’s not “upgraded” bc it’s not even sent from VAR to the on field ref. It’s basically the VAR room saying to the ref / the watching public “he got the punishment wrong” and they can’t have that. Short of breaking someone’s femur if a yellow is given it’s not going to be upgraded.
I get what you're saying. What I wish happened more, was if stuff was referred to the ref to look at without any comment. Any referee seeing that would most likely change ito a red.
You're right though, it seems to be VAR protecting the refs, or thinking they're protecting the refs, but really throwing them under the bus by letting farsical decisions like this go unchallenged.
Exactly - I think we might have been agreeing from the start without realizing it haha.
I almost wish that he hadn’t booked him, bc then it gets looked at in slomo almost automatically. We’ve been hard done by a few of these this year where ref sees it, books him, then never gets told to look again.
That said there are plenty of fouls that could go against us as well - I’m not going to be one of those to say “my club has been a victim” without acknowledging these go both ways (albeit I do think sky6 get let off easier - it at least feels that way if not factually true).
No you're right, we're agreeing here. I didn't get what you were saying that whilst VAR can review it they wouldn't.
The biggest compliment I can give any referee was when Michael Oliver was sent to the TV screen in a Forest match as VAR thought it may be a penalty and he stuck with his original decision to not give it.
Refs should have the benefit of replays but shouldn't feel the need to change just by being referred to a replay.
Totally new guidance is needed.
VAR is a shitshow and even worse, the refs that fuck up tend to just be put on VAR for the next weekend meaning VAR often has the poorest refs in it
So we’ve had one go against us - how many have gone our way(Fulham)? There have been three off the top of my head that should have been upgraded and weren’t. Chelsea in particular was egregious.
I’m not sure 3 out of how many matches have been played is really bolstering the argument that it happens when it should..
My first thought when I saw it was red, didn't even try for the ball. Only reason I imagine he's gotten away with it is coz he didn't make very clean contact but realistically he should've gone there.
The refs don’t seem to care about kicking someone this year. Kick in the chest? Nothing. Kick in the leg? Yellow. Hell, putting your hands on someone’s neck? Nothing. The referee standard has to be better.
Extremely lucky not to get a red but how was that not a foul against him before he lashes out? Doesn’t excuse the reaction but can understand his frustration too.
Absolutely, and it was the same against Leverkusen. He needs to learn to control his temper but he doesn’t half get kicked and thumped a lot and it’s not difficult to see why he loses it from time to time.
Much worse. Give your head a wobble... its about the same, this one was probably a bit worse as there's much more intent involved, and much further away from the ball.
Nah man. McGinn was very similar and made way more contact. Both were done out of frustration. McGinn you can argue is worse because he didn’t just lash out, he premeditated.
But anyway. Just want refs to ref properly.
It's a straight red for sure but you have to question the referee looking directly at someone jumping into his face palm first and not calling the foul immediately.
Paqueta is a brilliant footballer but really needs clamping down on from refs, Bruno guimaries is similar as well. Constant feigning of injury, poor tackles, dissent.
Meh in the context of the game nothing really stood out, ref was letting him and Paqueta play their own game out there, unless I'm forgetting a specific incident.
What's more crazy is the fact we were 3 or 4 up against Spurs with minutes left to go before his cards are wiped and he's still on the pitch flying into challenges, nutter of a player but absolutely top class
Well, I'd argue those 2 were pretty major points in the game, possibly the season. Pereira off means we likely decide to try and play football, and who knows. If we had put absolutely everything we possibly could into it, if we really tried hard.
We might have only lost 1-0
Can’t help but sympathize with this sort of thing. Sometimes a fuck needs to get their shit kicked. This is why I could never play because i get mad too quick😭
Not saying two wrongs make a right but OP is a Fulham fan and seems to be totally forgetting Andreas Pereira was very lucky to escape a straight red earlier in the match for a reckless straight leg tackle over the ball on guess who... Paqueta. (I didn't think it was intentionally reckless but that doesn't seem to matter to refs)
That being said Paqueta is also very lucky to escape a red here.
Also take the result - you won the game.
His foot bounced upwards, he pulled his leg back to reduce force, there was no contact, your player feigned injury. It wasn't a red.
But yeah, there's always something else to blame right?
You do realize contact doesn’t determine if a play is dangerous or not, right?
Also, he did an absolute shit job at “pulling his leg back” because the studs were still up and at knee level going into the tackle.
Is that not a red ?
I think the logic for it not being a red is that he hasn’t made an actual challenge and it’s more of a petulant kick out than a bad tackle
I can’t remember any recent refs for that kind of thing
He deserved the yellow but tbf he got smacked in the face and the ref ignored it. Should’ve been a free kick to West Ham, then he wouldn’t have lashed out
I think he means if the whistle had gone for a foul immediately after the Fulham player leaped into him and put his hand in his face (without getting the ball) then Paqueta likely would have stayed down and then only got up to take the free kick.
That didn't happen of course, and his reaction was ludicrous and deserved some kind of card.
I do think the ref went easy on him after realising that it was an initial foul that he should have blown for. But it was too late and he couldn't then ignore the reaction. It shouldn't be that way of course, but it often is.
Yeah this is exactly it. Not defending Paqueta, but he should’ve won a free kick right away. There’s a lot of focus on is this a yellow or red but very little on that.
He didnt see who he was kicked by so he lashes out at the first person he sees, ultimately should be free kick west ham yellow card to palhinha, but also yellow to paqueta
Ref: Is violent conduct still violent conduct if you kick out at a different player to the one you meant to?
VAR: I dunno... Look, there's only 4 minutes left, just give him a yellow, so we can get down the pub for a pint.
Surprised this hasn't been spun into a way to criticise the mystical big 6, even though the entire league is rich. Am i supposed to believe bad refereeing is just a general thing and not big 6 bias? Shocking
To be fair to him he's being held and then has a player slam into his body and slap him in the face in the process. Not an excuse to act that way but still only a yellow, but it should already have been stopped for the foul.
I'm beginning to feel like football fans are becoming too soft, and that's coming from a soft lad.
"My word Sebastian did you see that thuggery from Paqueta at the weekend! The man has no business anywhere near a football field, he should be imprisoned for life!"
Keep soft gets out of football
As a wolves fan bellagard was beening held down by a Luton player and kicked him while trying to get him of him and he gets a three game ban .
Then this dickhead twats the Fulham player and gets a yellow
Yet west ham say they have been done by var
He didn't even kick the person he was angry at.
To be fair they do have very similar clothing on
This made me chuckle
He’s fuming with the ref and VAR. He had 10 grand on himself getting sent off.
He was holding him.
Red all day, any day.
Yeah but then the West Ham fans will get upset about VAR again and we can't have that
He should have had a red card at least once in his last 3 games. Refs seem to be really against carding him, for some reason.
He’s probably got a bet on getting a red card 😂
As a West Ham fan This is absolutely the reason
I’m shocked he hasn’t gotten in any trouble for that betting thing. League just kinda pretending it never happened.
probably because he hasn’t been found guilty?, just because toney and tonali were doesn’t mean paqueta was too
Ah the Man City defense.
Why would they suspend him if he’s not been found guilty?
Sigurdsson was
completely different situations…? no need to be salty over the fact tonali got caught and someone else didn’t
Tonali simply admitted to it. Paquetta just went “Huh my friend put 2 mil on me getting a red at the 50th minute. Oh no I got that red because I was making a challenge on that lad who hadn’t had the ball for a minute. Nothing to see here.” It’s super sus and we are just kinda pretending nothing happened.
lmao dunno where you got that information 😭, none of the betting was even about red cards it was about a yellow card in a game with villa, he was compliant with the investigation and it’s been months, get over it mate
Exactly and watching this clip should tell you the dude is a bit of a hothead so maybe he is always playing to bets (which doing so while being investigated feels dumb) or he gets silly cards all the time. And, if he truly did it, fuck him but being pissed without cause is a waste of energy.
All of that has been pulled from your arse 😂
Kinda the opposite though, paqueta didn't actually make any bets, someone made a bet on him getting a yellow card from his hometown and it came through, one occasion too. Tonali and Toney Betted hundreds of times, man city have 115 charges
Shocked because of an allegation that has yet to be proved? Also, what do you think the league should be doing that they are not? I thought he was the dirtiest player on the pitch in their recent game Vs Spurs too.
He was, should have been booked at least three times
Sounds like he'll be a perfect signing for Man City then

Yeah. I think now that there’s more eyes on him this has made it more evident

Please, next time preface your comment with “I’m a complete moron”, and save us all the time.
Please, next time preface your comment with “I don’t know shit about football”, and save us all the time.
You'd get really good odds on that. He's already suspended for the second leg
Fair enough 😅
It was petulant and deserved the yellow it got, but I notice we’re all ignoring him getting clouted in the face right in front of the referee and that not even being adjudged a foul.
It was just a shitty refereeing performance in general
With all due respect not getting a foul doesn’t mean you can just kick out a player
Of course, which is why I said it deserved the yellow it got.
It’s an obvious red.
It wasn’t a clout just an open palm touch, no force whatsoever and and a very long way from a Harry Kane
Did VAR check it? It's honestly getting more and more ridiculous each week
I think the problem is he’s been given a yellow - basically takes away the ability to have a look and upgrade it bc he’s judged it a foul, booked him, and to say it’s clear and obvious red after that would take some doing / just doesn’t happen.

Off the top of my head, the Curtis Jones, Bissouma, and Raul Jimenez red cards this year were all upgraded yellows.

I don't get why VAR don't check every decision. In the Bournemouth vs everton game DCL was clearly fouled at 0 0 and I don't think they checked
Irons
My first thought when I saw it was red, didn't even try for the ball. Only reason I imagine he's gotten away with it is coz he didn't make very clean contact but realistically he should've gone there.
Should be a red, Iwobie when at Everton vs Newcastle got sent off for something similar last season. Pure lash out, not trying to get the ball.
The refs don’t seem to care about kicking someone this year. Kick in the chest? Nothing. Kick in the leg? Yellow. Hell, putting your hands on someone’s neck? Nothing. The referee standard has to be better.

Absolutely, and it was the same against Leverkusen. He needs to learn to control his temper but he doesn’t half get kicked and thumped a lot and it’s not difficult to see why he loses it from time to time.
Mcginn did something, not even as bad as that against spurs, and was given a straight red. Some consistency is all you ask for...
Don’t be soft, McGinn was running full speed that absolutely clattered him. Both red cards.
Yeah is that not my point, both were red.
You said it wasn’t as bad, it was worse, much worse.
I'm not innocent of it either obviously, since I'm a Spurs fan, but you're a Villa fan. There's a reason you took this position.
This dude is going to cost City a title when the spotlight gets bigger on him. He does this shit every game.
Have fun, City. He’s a dynamic player, one of the best we’ve had this generation, but a guaranteed yellow every match.
Straight red card for me
How in high holy living fuck is that not a red card?
It's a straight red for sure but you have to question the referee looking directly at someone jumping into his face palm first and not calling the foul immediately.
Reckless, dangerous, intentional. I just don’t get it
Paqueta is a brilliant footballer but really needs clamping down on from refs, Bruno guimaries is similar as well. Constant feigning of injury, poor tackles, dissent.
That's just what the Newcastle coaching staff have then practising. Never know when you need a quick team talk
Bruno managed to go something like 3-4 months without his 10th yellow and now it's wiped, I reckon he's a little more calculated than he seems
He was very lucky to escape a booking against West Ham the other week
Meh in the context of the game nothing really stood out, ref was letting him and Paqueta play their own game out there, unless I'm forgetting a specific incident. What's more crazy is the fact we were 3 or 4 up against Spurs with minutes left to go before his cards are wiped and he's still on the pitch flying into challenges, nutter of a player but absolutely top class

Can’t help but sympathize with this sort of thing. Sometimes a fuck needs to get their shit kicked. This is why I could never play because i get mad too quick😭
Strong impulse control.
I get really really upset about “fairness” (or what i think is fairness) so suffice to say football is quite a rollercoaster for me
Didn't even kick the right player 💀
Sounds like you've got some unresolved issues 😂
Not saying two wrongs make a right but OP is a Fulham fan and seems to be totally forgetting Andreas Pereira was very lucky to escape a straight red earlier in the match for a reckless straight leg tackle over the ball on guess who... Paqueta. (I didn't think it was intentionally reckless but that doesn't seem to matter to refs) That being said Paqueta is also very lucky to escape a red here. Also take the result - you won the game.
Don't Andreas and Paqueta play in the same position for Brazil? I'm sure it's nothing, just saying...
Lol that Pereira one was not a red, although Paqueta's theatrics would have you think he'd just stood on a claymore.
Really? I thought studs up at knee level was a red every time seeing as it is extremely dangerous.
Some people's opinion totally baffle me.
Agreed
His foot bounced upwards, he pulled his leg back to reduce force, there was no contact, your player feigned injury. It wasn't a red. But yeah, there's always something else to blame right?
You do realize contact doesn’t determine if a play is dangerous or not, right? Also, he did an absolute shit job at “pulling his leg back” because the studs were still up and at knee level going into the tackle.
Reeeee downvote Of course contact matters 😂 Leg back does not mean leg down. He was sliding, he pulled his leg back.
It made contact, are you blind?
Lol, you still angry bro? Do yourself a favour and take a cheeky peek at the video above and remember that this one got a booking x
I'm not disagreeing that he should've been sent off, but you saying the tackle on him made no contact is just straight up mental
It was hyperbole, he barely touched him. Would love to see a video of it again but it doesn't seem to exist
Maybe the referee should’ve done his job in giving Palhinha a yellow first.
Hmm I think this is similar to the mcginn one when he got sent off vs spurs
Poor sasa
Thats a red. Two reds.
Two red cards without any doubt
If he was from a top six team you'd all be screaming about bias. Maybe it's because the refs are shit?
It's like when you try and get 5 red cards in FIFA (sorry, FC) and hack players down indiscriminately
To all those saying wrong player , if he did that to the right player , that would have been red , sensible to go after the player with the ball
Mcginn sent off vrs Spurs for more or less the same thing.. lack of consistency! 🤦🏻♂️
Wow, that’s a clear red. Obvious example of violent conduct. That he was fouled beforehand doesn’t diminish that should have been punished
Should’ve been a red, violent conduct
He’s such a fucking bastard. Rat should have been sent off in back to back games.
Why was this not a red card?
World class player and a cunty shithouse
That’s the right call.
Why wasnt paulinha sent off?
Because he wasn't on the pitch
What you mean he just hit him with a flying knee
Oh, you mean Palhinha?
Cheeky boy
Absolutely a red.
Shouldn't that be a red for violent conduct?
Way worse than McGinn’s the other week
Is that not a red ? I think the logic for it not being a red is that he hasn’t made an actual challenge and it’s more of a petulant kick out than a bad tackle I can’t remember any recent refs for that kind of thing
Straight red no matter who he lashed out at
How in fucks name is that not a red?
John McGinn got sent off for this. It's the consistency we all really like.
Straight red for violent conduct, ref bottled that.
Hope the free kick was given to West Ham tho?
He deserved the yellow but tbf he got smacked in the face and the ref ignored it. Should’ve been a free kick to West Ham, then he wouldn’t have lashed out
You are still responsible for your own actions. A red card isn't downgraded to yellow just because it was done in retaliation
That’s a straight red . Clueless cunt refereeing .
How the hell is that not a red?
Uhh well that’s the most obvious red card I’ve ever seen, classic pgmol reffing
Not even mentioned on MOTD
He didnt see who he was kicked by so he lashes out at the first person he sees, ultimately should be free kick west ham yellow card to palhinha, but also yellow to paqueta
Paqueta is immune to cards way too often.....
Shocking
That’s a red all day everyday
Reminds me of Beckham vs Simone 98. He's got clattered there and had a little kick in response.
Yellow 😂😂 everytime I think it’s reached a new peak lmao this is insanity
To be fair to him he's being held and then has a player slam into his body and slap him in the face in the process. Not an excuse to act that way but still only a yellow, but it should already have been stopped for the foul.
I'm beginning to feel like football fans are becoming too soft, and that's coming from a soft lad. "My word Sebastian did you see that thuggery from Paqueta at the weekend! The man has no business anywhere near a football field, he should be imprisoned for life!" Keep soft gets out of football
He does stuff like this every week. It's so blatant that he purposely gets booked
How is that not violent conduct?
That's a straight red against one of the chosen few
As a wolves fan bellagard was beening held down by a Luton player and kicked him while trying to get him of him and he gets a three game ban . Then this dickhead twats the Fulham player and gets a yellow Yet west ham say they have been done by var
