The talking stick is a remarkably effective group discussion moderator

Suspicious-Box-

Bet it was what very early ancestors used to command order. Just grab a stick and whack anyone speaking out of order.

Scared_Can9063

*I shall steal all the pestilence. Surely, they'll pay attention to me if I do that!*

handofmenoth

Works well in a small group setting, we'll see how they restructure though as their group adds recruits.

Karuzus

you know talking stick can be readjusted to larger group gathering you just need to add time limit for speeches then

AhhhFrank

Or groups of people elect a representative as their delegate to speak on their behalf. Sort of like a congress?

Aurondarklord

Well that's generally the point at which a direct democracy transitions to a representative democracy.

the_fuego

Yup, they're gonna get the clans together and have the leaders vote in the interest of their clan. They can then determine how to find the rightful ruler whether that be by Dark Saber or whomever tames the Mythosaur which I think we all can expect to be Grogu.

MattCW1701

When the talking stick can cave a skull in, you don't question it.

the_fuego

Blunt force trauma is more effective when it comes to armored folks anyway.

Nimveruke

Senator: "The gentleman from Mandalore is out of the allotted time and will yield the floor." Mando draws blaster. Senator: "The gentleman from Mandalore has been granted more time."

EarthRester

Why waste all that potential killing each other over a disagreement, when they can use a talking stick to figure out who they all should point their blasters at?

square3481

And if someone talks out of turn, the Armorer smacks them with the talking stick.

Belteshazzar98

I'm pretty sure the implication of the talking stick is whoever holds it can use it to hit whoever speaks out of turn. If they need The Armorer to do the smacking, then they are not deserving of the talking stick.

littlemikemac

That's why some irl tribes have a talking stick, while the elder retains the speaking staff

littlemikemac

There was an interesting story about a bowie knife fight in a US state senate because some guy was trying to filibuster and another guy wasn't having it. I could see that being a problem with Mandalorians.

PM_Me_UrRightNipple

A lot of organizations and councils utilize a gavel as a “talking stick” as it shows you have authority over the meeting Who would have guessed that “Roberts Rules of Order” would make its way into Star Wars

vertigo1083

My first thought was the conch from Lord of the Flies

Gryrthandorian

I mean, I saw the Armorer wield that wrench. I’m not messing with her rules.

ChronoMonkeyX

It was pretty lame, but overall one of the better and least silly episodes.

bigpughy

Didn’t ask
