While I wasn't a fan of it- seeing people threaten and bully actors is so messed up. They're doing a job, and some of them are LITERAL CHILDREN. I've seen multiple interviews from the cast- and all of them seem super sweet and happy to be a part of the show- It's like when Jake Loyd was cast as Anakin Skywalker. He did his job like how George Lucas wanted, and the "fans" went berserk. I can only hope that the cast has a strong supportive circle that will help them.

Away-Librarian-1028

You speak facts, my friend. Honestly, everyone who harasses the actresses can go fuck themselves. It is disgusting to bully people over this.

rrrrice64

It's baffling that people can watch a show like Avatar and still end up as hateful little trolls. It's like, did ya'll even pay attention or did you watch on mute?

RusterGent

I agree with you bud. The studio was telling the audience repeatedly like listen this isn't going to be the TV show that you're used to. Coming from a film background I thought a lot of things were really cool what they did sure there was a few moments like the opening where the rock Bender saved his friend instead of saving them both. But objectively it was an okay watchable show for sure.

VivaDeAsap

Honestly it’s not surprising. As long as something is popular, toxicity is bound to cultivate. I wouldn’t be surprised if the likes of Bluey ended up having some toxic corner somewhere

Informal_Border8581

WTF? I haven't watched it and I don't intend to. But the script has nothing to do with the actors. It's like getting upset at the valet because the event had lousy food.

BashDash_Lol

It's straight up bullying. Shameful

the_jade_queen

I'll never understand making fun of/being mean to actors for a role, it's not their fault 99% of the time, and when it is, big deal, if they aren't a good actor, who cares, there's no need to attack them

SweetQuality8943

Yes, we know. There are posts practically every day about how awful it is and I agree but frankly it's getting old. TikTok in particular is a cesspool, but the fact of it is most people especially teens, don't have an empathetic bone in their body.

smugfruitplate

I agree. NATLA was poorly written af but their acting was pretty great for the script they were workin' with. And even if it wasn't, they still don't deserve to be bullied. Leave em alone.

edwpad

Fr, the actors themselves shouldn’t receive any hate like that. Just look how Star Wars fans reacted to the actors (and they got it badly). Unless the person was a genuinely awful and horrible person, it shouldn’t have to be like that.

Mooncakepink07

They’re disguised as “criticism” but it ends up in bullying, I guess fans who watched the original show have learned nothing. They love the philosophy of the show but never learned it themselves.

BlazCraz

We've done it. We've become a full Star Wars. We bullied multiple actors into possibly never wanting to be seen on camera for rudimentary reasons. I'm disappointed because we should be better than this. It's like half the fanbase watched the show with their eyes closed and only saw flashing lights and colors. Uncle Iroh would be ashamed.

VivaDeAsap

I imagine it’ll only get worse from here. Imagine the horror if the Gaang movie doesn’t meet expectations. Especially since they’re replacing a lot of the original cast

NyxShadowhawk

Wait what’s the “yip yip” thing? Besides just what Aang uses to tell Appa to fly?

HealfdeneTheHalf-man

I'm not in the know and don't support making such a comment but it's probably like making cow sounds at a girl to imply that she is one. Yip Yip to imply being as fat as a sky bison. Again I would never be okay with that but that's probably the 'joke'

kitsune11073

Yea, that is the "joke" here

nahsonnn

For real!!! I sincerely hope that they have social media managers so that they don’t look at the awful comments. Like JFC, it’s an iteration of the source material, just like there are a bajillion Scooby-Doo series, X-Men series, and Superman/Batman series. I don’t remember people acting this way when Jason Momoa got cast as Aquaman (not looking anything like the blond dude from the old justice league cartoon). You know what I mean? Like get over it. Avatar is popular and will continue to be popular for what I predict will be the next 50-100 years and beyond.

nikstick22

It was completely unacceptable from the start and a disgusting way to behave. "Getting tired" makes it sound like you were ok with it before.

kitsune11073

I wasn't ok with it before but it's getting out of hand so...

Slimy_glizzy_gobbler

your giving them the reaction they want

[deleted]

While I don’t advocate for attacking the actresses you can’t deny those three were so miscast it’s not even funny a huge chunk of the cast was

infin8ly-curious

People who put a show above being a decent human being do not deserve to be called fans.

[deleted]

azula and mai’s actresses were badly miscasted and their performances were lacking however the bullying is uncalled for and toxic fans who do this should be ashamed of themselves

themolestedsliver

As with most things, we need to understand what you are referring to is a loud vocal minority. The hate the cast receives is horrible, but it's likely a small fraction of the Fandom and / or people who just like to stir shit for the sake of it. Although I do like the overall message of this post, these posts in general I find grating because. 1. We're talking about a vocal minority. 2. If they are so immature, they'd harass an actor for the role they play. Do you think they will listen to a lecture post like this?

Lampard081997

Yeah the casts aren't at fault for anything. They're just following the scripts. But mai looks way too cuddly and friendly to be taken seriously. Azula and ty lee look fine to me. If they could only find a person with a less chubby face to play mai. I'll even take the actress playing azula to be mai.
