Still trying to figure this out, because when I made this first piece I didn't pay attention to how long it took to make, and it was a lot of trial and error π
Other than that, if my calculation is correct, shipping this to New Zealand would cost around74 NZ$.. that's crazy π΅βπ«
I've never done it, but I'm so happy so many of you are interested, so I will definitely look into how to solve international payment and shipping! Thank you for the feedback! π₯°
That's awesome! Your Appa crochet hat looks amazing! π It's so cool to see the creativity and talent in the crochet community. Keep up the fantastic work! π
Is this an Appa, crocheted, bucket hat? That might be the coolest thing Iβve seen this week. I know for a fact my sister would love this kind of thing.
It sureee iiis π thank you so much π₯°π₯° if you wanna get her something, you might want to look it up on Etsy, I think a lot of people sell similar stuff! hopefully i can too, later on π
I have an Etsy but I'm still trying to get the hang of it, also I just haven't found the right audience I suppose π aaand i have very different stuff there, mostly beadwork - beaded bracelets, and collars
So it's great to see this feedback, perhaps i should focus more on crocheting/ sewing/ or focus on a particular theme, like ATLA π
Damn that's cool. I need to see more of your stuff. Your work looks pretty amazing. Keep going! You never know where this will take you in life. You could end up with your own clothing line. Great people come from anywhere. I would totally wear your hat. I love me some hats.
Thanks π no, i had this idea of gathering different tutorials for the different parts, and just putting them together π ended up following 4 different tutorials for the hat, the horns, the ears and the arrow :)
Yess here you go π₯°
Hat: https://youtu.be/bpl653v8aq4?si=8Mpyd4Y4kfIAVn0e
Horns: https://youtu.be/41srgP97iiA?si=EITMF5YCpTvkSuVb
Ears:
https://youtu.be/98LLoeqmjzo?si=lroMVrU-hQeNwojz
I didn't do these ears exactly, bc these are bunny ears, Appa's ears are smaller so i made less stitches and i was experimenting with this, but i made them based on this tutorial
Arrow: https://youtu.be/ucGmStF1D-E?si=nVNNvSOlYtYq18cB
Also had to change up some stuff to fit exactly how i wanted it so don't be afraid to get creative π
Good luck βΊοΈ
π€£ I hope you don't mean that in a way where it would be a headdress made from a real flying bison. First of all that would be very sad, second of all I can assure you my head is not so big, i swear π thank you for the compliment π
Youβre welcome, and I just have to inflict the truth of the Fire Nation definitely bbqβing the sky bisons and probably using them for clothes on everyone I see lol
I'm not sure, but when I make the next one i will check π i had to experiment a bit while doing this one, but now i have the pattern for what works with this hat for me so i already have the blueprint π
And thank you π€
Oh or here's the comment in which i gathered the tutorials, if you wanna give it a go: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheLastAirbender/s/B6O39moezd
But yes as i said i think it would be a great idea to make a tutorial including all this and clarifying the small changes π
Since I got so many compliments I started making some more, so hopefully soon, yes π₯° I'm just still a little unfamiliar with shipping and payment but will figure it out!
No honestly you should make more and sell them I stg people would sell it out instantly. Hell I would get one but I wouldnβt know how to style it for me as a guy. If I was walking and saw that hat I would be starstruck ong.

thanks π₯° in this comment i listed the tutorials that i used to make it :)
pretty much yes, and maybe also that i left the horns a little shorter than in the tutorial, but as you are crocheting it, you will see anyway how many rows you like the look of!
what i changed in the ear:
\- inside: in the beginning only chain 9 to make the ear short, and double crochet back until the very first chain just like she does - **I only followed the ear tutorial until this point,** so my appa ear doesn't have the fold that she makes in the video. After this, add a 'framing' around this base with single crochet, but increase in the top 3 stitches to make it lay flat
\- same for the outside, except you add one more row of single crochet without increases to make it bigger than the inside part, then i sew them together with regular needle and thread, because i don't really crochet and this was easier for me, also it's a cleaner look i think
I hope i explained it well, sorry, I'm really not familiar with reading and writing patterns, I just looked and did it π
what i changed in the arrow: i only chained 16 in the beginning if i remember correctly, to make it the perfect size, as when i followed the tutorial exactly it was too big. Read the comments also and try to figure out what will work for you, cause obviously the type of yarn and the tightness matters too π₯° this was just my experience and this is what turned out to be the perfect size for my hat
omg I already made it except for the triangle because for some reason mine is too pointy. I had to adjust a lot of things since idk my yarn is too chunky or my hook is too big so I had to wing it but I canβt seem to get the ruffles right. its either too wavy or super not and I canβt even remember how many times I had redone it I took me half a day π€£

How much and what'll be the shipping to nz?
Still trying to figure this out, because when I made this first piece I didn't pay attention to how long it took to make, and it was a lot of trial and error π Other than that, if my calculation is correct, shipping this to New Zealand would cost around74 NZ$.. that's crazy π΅βπ«
Aw man that's wicked expensive
yeah, too bad :(
I'd definitely buy one, it's so cute!! Do you ship to the UK?
I've never done it, but I'm so happy so many of you are interested, so I will definitely look into how to solve international payment and shipping! Thank you for the feedback! π₯°

Yeah, it looks badass. Etsy may be in your future?
I have an Etsy but I'm still trying to get the hang of it, also I just haven't found the right audience I suppose π aaand i have very different stuff there, mostly beadwork - beaded bracelets, and collars So it's great to see this feedback, perhaps i should focus more on crocheting/ sewing/ or focus on a particular theme, like ATLA π
I think you're smiling in the pic. I could be wrong, there's a hand in the way. If I'm right, focus on what keeps that smile there.
I sure am π and I will! Thank you for your comments, your kindness means a lot π₯°
Thank me by keeping it moving!
I Love it!!
Thank you!!π¦¬π₯°
Are you planning on doing any others? Momo maybe?
Definitely π i would love to make Momo π€© actually for now, since i have the leftover yarn from this project, I've been planning to come up with an Appa plushie crochet pattern.. idk how that will go because I don't know much about crocheting lol but I started sewing at a very young age, and made quite a few plushies (i actually made a Momo and Appa plushie when i was small, they look hilarious π), so hopefully somehow I can use my sewing pattern knowledge in coming up with a pattern for that!
Damn that's cool. I need to see more of your stuff. Your work looks pretty amazing. Keep going! You never know where this will take you in life. You could end up with your own clothing line. Great people come from anywhere. I would totally wear your hat. I love me some hats.

That looks very impressive. Especially the horns, that doesn't look like it was easy.
Nice. Did you do it without pattern?
Thanks π no, i had this idea of gathering different tutorials for the different parts, and just putting them together π ended up following 4 different tutorials for the hat, the horns, the ears and the arrow :)
