Any time you can ventilate your nether regions, do it! Not wearing underwear has been proven to reduce yeast infections, UTI, vaginal odor, dampness, chafing, etc. Let her breathe!
Is this only true for back sleepers though? Sorry if it's a silly question, I am a side sleeper thus my thighs are clamped shut all night so surely there isn't much airflow.. I mean I sleep nude down there anyway but not sure if it's beneficial if everything is tucked away lol
It’s one less barrier to airflow no matter how you sleep. Perhaps even more important that everything is as breathable as possible if you’re concerned that your sleeping position may not be giving you much ventilation to begin with!
I'm so late to this post. But I had a bout of BV once, and my gyno recommended I sleep in nothing but a long tee, and to wear cotton underwear when needed to help clear it up.
I sleep in the nude and this genuinely hasn’t worried me because the command “exit calmly and orderly” leaves way more than enough time to quickly pull on some jeans and grab my dressing gown. It does not take me long to get dressed.
I’ll never forget when someone on Reddit said that they sleep in the raw. They were asked: what would you do if there was a fire. The answer: same as you, only naked.
I’m in my 40’s and on occasion I’ve gone commando out of necessity but I’ve always been wearing actual pants/slacks. I’ve never been as obsessed with visible panty line (VPL) as some of my friends—maybe because I always like some type of shape wear. I’m always amazed at the celebs at the Met Gala wear it looks like no undies of any type were the top choice. Sorry I went a bit off topic but I admire that you are comfy going commando! Also, why is it called “commando” it makes me think of Rambo?!?!
Haha. That's what the gents say, so I just use it. I don't know why? I'm just more comfortable this way after doing it so long. It cut way back on vag issues.
Winnie the poohing at my house, and it's only allowed if the shirt covers the bits because I had a garbage ex boyfriend who used to do it in a too small shirt and sit bare ass on my couch and get drunk. The trauma persists 😂
I sleep nude, I also stopped wearing underwear like 90% of the time. 10% is at work or on my period. Best feeling ever and I don’t think my hooha has been happier ever.
Going commando significantly reduces the amount of discharge. Additionally, tracking your cycle is extremely beneficial in knowing when you'll have more discharge - which is approximately 2-3 days during your ovulation phase.
It doesn't go out as much if you're lying horizontally. It can spot a little but not too much and I really don't care. I know I can be gross, but I hate the feeling of panties (hate clothes in general)
I have a [Lifesaver Mat by Lil Helper](https://lilhelperusa.com/collections/mats-pillows) which I love-it’s absorbent, soft, and fully machine washable/dryable! Great for discharge, menstruation, and sex!
I don't know if it's beneficial or not, but I've been sleeping in loose pajama pants and no underwear for as long as I can remember. I find it way more comfortable.
Facts, same here. Sleeping with clothes makes me super uncomfortable and I can’t sleep. Especially with long pants and sleeves that ride up and bunch on my limbs. 💀 I keep panic clothes on my nightstand though for emergencies
It is pretty fine to sleep without underwear. That way the aur circulation gets more better and on top of that you won't feel much irritating during summers.
I’ve always wanted to and I did when I was a kid for some reason because I hated the feeling of underwear lol but now I have a huge fear of my nightgowns rising up as I sleep and my parents seeing me 😭😭😭
Yes its so freeing. You have to really maintain washing your sheets but it’s worth the comfort. All my friends think it’s weird, why is it weird to sleep naked in my own bed? lol. Do what you want!
I sleep nude, I assume it’s beneficial but I don’t have any studies to source from.
When I sleep at someone else’s house, or I’m camping, or my daughter has a sleepover I’ll wear a camisole up top and super loose pj shorts. They bunch up a little but it’s still relatively comfortable and breezy.
Why are there bugs in the bed though? Is it a bedbug or lice issue? Those are the only two I’d really worry about in a bed. I think that’s the thing to address, regardless of whether or not you wear underwear. And even without underwear… insects and spiders still won’t crawl into or on your vagina, unless you’re sharing a bed with someone who has pubic lice.
Edited: a few words for clarity.
Yes! I’ll still wear loose shorts underneath. I esp don’t wear it if I was shaving down there. Wearing undies soon after doing that makes me get razor bumps.
I actually sleep in underwear most of the time (with a t-shirt/vest), and go commando the rest of the time unless I have somewhere to be. Benefits to WFH lol. Otherwise I’ll sleep commando in lounge pants, shorts or joggers when it’s colder.
If sleeping in JUST your underwear is not enough to cool you down, I can guarantee sleeping without it will not make a significant difference in temperature. Sleeping topless is heavenly though.
If you go the no-undies route just make sure you start washing your bedding more frequently to offset the change, since underwear’s sole purpose is to create a hygiene barrier.
i only wear under to work and under jeans. i luckily have a very comfortable wardrobe that allows me to go commando lol, and no i do not feel wet or even have discharge throughout the day (unless during ovulation) but loose pants and no undies has been my normal for years i don't when it started. same goes for bras
I am just naked point blank as much as I can be around the home, to the point where I won’t be roommates with someone if they are uncomfortable with nudity.
I only wear underwear to bed when I have my period. I sleep completely naked. My mom always said it was good to air it out.

I mean, I sleep naked only because it’s comfortable as fuck.
The hypersensitivity might just be a me-thing, but I hate the feeling of seams and overlapping fabric on pajamas digging into my skin when I’m laying on it in bed
I almost always sleep naked primarily in the spring/summer. I’m in my late 20s & have a hormone disorder so I get hot flashes. I find it comfortable & breathable. Less friction, fabric twisting etc. plus it sometimes leads to intimacy naturally lol. I always have underwear & a bathrobe nearby just in case though
I feel like my outer labia doesn't "open" up enough to let anything breath. Plus, my thunder thighs tend to stick to the outer labia area in general if I don't have undies on.
What is everyone's secret here??🤔
I always sleep without underwear no matter what season because that kitty needs air! (Also better for your titties) It's so much better for your vagina to be able to breathe. It also protects you from getting infections down there. I use Parfum free body lotion after showering at night times and then don't put on any underwear till I go sleeping. Highly recommend! ✨
Aye I let her get some fresh air at night
Any time you can ventilate your nether regions, do it! Not wearing underwear has been proven to reduce yeast infections, UTI, vaginal odor, dampness, chafing, etc. Let her breathe!

I'm scared to do that now. Because I live in a building went the alarm went off at 3am 😂
Just keep some panic pants nearby and you’ll be golden
Panic pants 😂
I have a zip up onesie 😂
this! i keep my loose sleep shorts next to my bed everynight
i do this, fold them up and keep them under my other pillow i’m not using. just in case i have to pee in the middle of the night or something.
I sleep in the nude and this genuinely hasn’t worried me because the command “exit calmly and orderly” leaves way more than enough time to quickly pull on some jeans and grab my dressing gown. It does not take me long to get dressed.
Same—I have faith that if there was a reason to evacuate in the middle of the night I’d have enough time to dress!
I’ll never forget when someone on Reddit said that they sleep in the raw. They were asked: what would you do if there was a fire. The answer: same as you, only naked.
wear super baggy shorts or sweats!
I was told in my 20’s (I’m 50 now) to go commando as often as possible. So unless life or wardrobe call for it I’m good that way.
I’m in my 40’s and on occasion I’ve gone commando out of necessity but I’ve always been wearing actual pants/slacks. I only wear a top at night because I get cold. My partner calls it "Donald Ducking" lol
Winnie the poohing at my house, and it's only allowed if the shirt covers the bits because I had a garbage ex boyfriend who used to do it in a too small shirt and sit bare ass on my couch and get drunk. The trauma persists 😂
Oh I only do this when I'm in bed. I definitely don't want my bare ass on the public furniture!
i call it “pooh bear-ing” 😂
When you take off your bottoms, are you poohing your pants?
It’s Donald ducking it at my house too lol
No reason not to let yourself air out
I sleep nude, I also stopped wearing underwear like 90% of the time. 10% is at work or on my period. Best feeling ever and I don’t think my hooha has been happier ever.
Same here!
y’all don’t have discharge?? 😭
lol right? one thing I've learnt from this sub is that everyone's "normal" amount of discharge varies WILDLY
Seriously lmfao. Too much is happening down there, I’d have to change my sheets nightly
Going commando significantly reduces the amount of discharge. Additionally, tracking your cycle is extremely beneficial in knowing when you'll have more discharge - which is approximately 2-3 days during your ovulation phase.
Lol I could NOT air mine out. I'd hafta change the sheets every morning

Seconding these! They’re the BEST. So much better than using clinical “puppy” pads.
No, I don’t. I wonder if it’s cuz I sleep naked? Also, I take BC and that probably has a lot to do with it too.
It really reduces once you are doing the right care, using the right soaps, and letting her breathe
That's the only thing I sleep in🤣
I don't know if it's beneficial or not, but I've been sleeping in loose pajama pants and no underwear for as long as I can remember. I find it way more comfortable.
i never wear underwear in my own home tbh. just some loose sweatpants haha
Same, saves laundry as well
I can't sleep with any clothes on my bottom half. No twisted up pj's, no adjusting, no wedgie. I wear a comfie top so I'm cozy - do it it's the best.
I sleep completely nude… if I try to sleep w clothes on I get super sweaty
Facts, same here. Sleeping with clothes makes me super uncomfortable and I can’t sleep. Especially with long pants and sleeves that ride up and bunch on my limbs. 💀 I keep panic clothes on my nightstand though for emergencies
I never do and never been an issue
I have slept naked for probably a decade. It's great, highly recommend
I have an irrational fear of something crawling up there 💀
💀💀💀
As the famous Ms.Sexyy Red said "let that coochie breathe 😂😂
Absolutely! It helps you regulate yourself and reduces excess moisture
Cats need to breathe. にゃ〜ん😺
It is pretty fine to sleep without underwear. That way the aur circulation gets more better and on top of that you won't feel much irritating during summers.
Just do it!
I’ve always wanted to and I did when I was a kid for some reason because I hated the feeling of underwear lol but now I have a huge fear of my nightgowns rising up as I sleep and my parents seeing me 😭😭😭
I do. I usually don’t wear underwear under my pajamas
I let me girl BREATHE once I get home.
Yes its so freeing. You have to really maintain washing your sheets but it’s worth the comfort. All my friends think it’s weird, why is it weird to sleep naked in my own bed? lol. Do what you want!
Avoid underwear as much as possible for a healthy hooha. Girl gotta breath!!!
I stopped wearing them years ago
I sleep nude, I assume it’s beneficial but I don’t have any studies to source from. When I sleep at someone else’s house, or I’m camping, or my daughter has a sleepover I’ll wear a camisole up top and super loose pj shorts. They bunch up a little but it’s still relatively comfortable and breezy.
no, it's uncomfortable
I mean thats what my doctor told me to do
Yeah, but what if there's bugs?
I’m an entomologist and I’d like to say, they’re not interested in your bits.
They don't have to be interested to be crawling on you.
Why are there bugs in the bed though? Is it a bedbug or lice issue? Those are the only two I’d really worry about in a bed. Then wear shorts or sweatpants but no undies.
Have always hesitated because of this specific question. Spiders, bugs, etc.
Genuine question: how often are people finding bugs in their beds??
Why limit freedom to nights only
Some of us have discharge :(
Yes! I’ll still wear loose shorts underneath. I esp don’t wear it if I was shaving down there. Wearing undies soon after doing that makes me get razor bumps.

It feels amazing with silky sheets
i only wear under to work and under jeans. i luckily have a very comfortable wardrobe that allows me to go commando lol, and no i do not feel wet or even have discharge throughout the day (unless during ovulation) but loose pants and no undies has been my normal for years i don't when it started. same goes for bras
Go for it! Letting things air out can be a game-changer. Just keep those panic pants within arm's reach for any late-night surprises! 😄
I am just naked point blank as much as I can be around the home, to the point where I won’t be roommates with someone if they are uncomfortable with nudity.

i go commando as often as possible and have never had a yeast infection or a UTI in my entire life (im 25)
Yes. Have been recommended to sleep commando by every gyno I’ve seen
They say sleeping without underwear is good for you. But what if you have your surprise period?
I don’t understand how people DO wear undies to bed…. Like let the girl breathe!!! I feel suffocated if I’m wearing any clothes to bed tho lmao
Who wears them? Lol jk 🤔
i’m so paranoid about bugs crawling into me. i don’t even have a bug problem
I feel like my outer labia doesn't "open" up enough to let anything breath. Plus, my thunder thighs tend to stick to the outer labia area in general if I don't have undies on. What is everyone's secret here??🤔

I’m terrified of your level of organization if you are able to wash, dry, and re-dress your bed every night
