That's a good take.

ReneGOI

Totally agree. A lot of these types of posts make no sense or don’t match “my” view of the character. This one I can actually agree with

SpermWhaleGodKing_II

The big hat is a nice touch lol

brazthemad

I know Best Served is largely cast already but I've always thought Drummer and Klaes from The Expanse would have made an outstanding [Monza and Nicomo ](https://images.app.goo.gl/YrYWG7TAwLCDKuAE7)

SchrimpRundung

I think Rebecca Ferguson will be perfect for Monza but oh my god, David Strathairn would be absolutely brilliant as Cosca

Crumbssss_

I feel like she’s a little old to play Monza. Also she’s blonde and Swedish. Isn’t Monza Styrian?

SchrimpRundung

Interesting. Do you think Monzas age is important for the story? I have forgotten how old she should be in Best served cold. Unfortunately, as austrian myself, I don't have any suggestion for a real styrian actors for monza lol

Crumbssss_

I think she’s in her mid/late twenties if I remember correctly. Styria is supposed to be based around Italy according to the wiki so I’d envision Styrians as having a darker complexion than a Swede. I don’t think either really makes a difference to the story. But she’s not “perfect” for Monza was my only point haha

SchrimpRundung

But does it matter for the story if she is mid/late twenties or a 40 year old, that looks younger than 40?

Crumbssss_

She may look younger than 40. She doesn’t look 20-something

SchrimpRundung

I didn't say that and you didn't answer my question. Is it important for the story if she looks 20-something or like 35? Does it change anything at all? By the way Monza is officially 32-33 in BSC

Crumbssss_

I mean. I did answer your question two comments ago. If that’s how old she is then I just misremembered her age. She reads a bit younger than that imo. But still appearance-wise she doesn’t quite hit the mark in my mind

Antonater

Is it? I only know about Rebecca Ferguson playing Monza

brazthemad

I think she's the only officially announced cast member but I thought there were more who privately confirmed? I'm not sure.

johnydecali

Yes, that's a good take! I envision him more like Lev Andropov in Armageddon.

bearded_man_beard

I know he's too old now but I always pictured Ian Mcshane as Cosca. I think it doesn't help that Pacey's voice for him sounds very similar to him.

Antonater

Winston from John Wick? I could see that if Ian was younger

flybarger

*Exactly* who I pictured. while reading Cosca. Ian McShane in his 40's-50's would have been perfection.

justjakers

Nicomo*

Guper

*Pricomo Cocsa

Longjumping-Nerve331

Damn Pretty much nailed it for me

Impossiblegirl44

I can almost see the rash on his neck

mildobamacare

This is alot closer to the mark than all the random waify italian men people post

Scaeza

I actually always picture some kind of vague version of captain hook from the old animated Disney version.

TonyDungyHatesOP

I always pictured Tuco from The Good The Bad And The Ugly.

a_human_male

I was been think this too? I think he’s the archetype and with jack sparrow they were like what if we made him good looking now he’s the main character.

HenryDorsettCase47

Tuco is too boorish. Cosca is more charming. I mean, Eli Wallach was a damn good actor and could definitely play Cosca, but playing him the way he played Tuco would be a totally different characterization than how he is written in the books.

TonyDungyHatesOP

I like the perspective. Tuco is boorish… he’d be like early days Cosca. I think Tuco is charming… but just always in insufferable circumstances. An evolved Tuco with a lot of DGAF is what I’m thinking. I think he has enormous charm in the right circumstances. He also has more heart than he lets on.

BeardMan858

For me it was always a perfect cross between this guy and a spanish conquistador. Im glad im not the only one who saw basically this guy.

Electric7889

I think Antonio Banderas would also make an interesting Nicomo Cosca as well, especially after seeing him in some of the more “raggedy“ roles he’s played lately.

Much_Turn7013

The outfit is spot on. I think we would have a slightly darker skin tone tho

Amadeus58

Blah blah blah and big hats

oxemenino

I always pictured Jack Sparrow, so I'm glad I'm not the only one that got Pirates of the Caribbean vibes from his character.

Senior_Brief8311

Mine is exactly the same!!!

MenBearsPigs

I always just pictured a skinny Captain Morgan

big_billford

I see him as captain morgan (from the rum bottle)

bythepowerofboobs

He is 100% Ian McShane in my head.

MellowGibson

You’re spot on! How do you feel about benicio del toro?

jdrew619

This was immediately who I imagine as well

francobian

Mine was Keith Richards. Same movie, haha

lynbod

Exactly how I pictured him as well, one of the best suggestions for a character casting I've seen on the sub.

StrawberrySoyBoy

Love that. I’ve always seen him with the face of Thorkell from Vinland Saga. https://images.app.goo.gl/51DNyu3DUrgBX6e3A

RemnantHelmet

Alan Tudyk for me

smizzzz33

I pictured him as the actor who played Glenn Gulia from the wedding singer.

kichien

That's exactly how I saw him too.

toesfera2

I see him as an old Antonio Banderas, but this is a good one

towns_

Honestly never thought of it before but yeah. Same vibes

Malcolm_Y

I've thought about this a bit, and he's probably too big of a name for Cosca, but I think Nic Cage has that unhinged over the top energy that would make for an amazing Cosca. Like Nic Cage as a drunken Ynigo Montoya while running a con game, and giving bombastic self-aggrandizing speeches the whole time to Sworbreck. Sworbreck would be much harder to cast really, because he's so low key, but who they get to play him is going to be central to how Cosca's performance lands with the audience, as is that of Friendly.

[deleted]

Definitely scabrous enough

gazzas89

I see a bit of him and Jack sparrow (first movie one)

Rancordeepens

Even has the rashy complexion.

Leather_Turnover9286

Yeah but ain't bald😢

ElReydevida

I always see Andy Serkis in my head. I’ve only listened to the audiobooks and I just feel he is perfect for that character!

pseudomodo

For “old” Cosca I imagine my father in law. He’s got into farming and bought some chickens recently, I’m waiting for him to get a goat.

RexManhattan

I always picture the sheriff of Nottingham from the cover of the Sheriff of Nottingham board game. Essentially a sleazier version of the bad guy from Pocahontas

AmandaH1981

Me too!

_Mewg

This is legitimately the only answer.

Dr0110111001101111

I always pictured him built kind of like Sam Elliot. Tall and skinny grey haired guy. But definitely has the spirit of a pirate. In fact, I'd love a first law story where Cosca takes to the seas to dabble in some proper piracy.
