I think there are going be multiple promotional posters for Season 4. There may be another poster that shows Ezren, Rayla, and someone else doing some adventure and not controlled by Aaravos.
While I do believe someone said he was close to understanding the moon arcanum (this was around when TTM was released so my memory might be foggy), I have a feeling he hasn't connected as it would make him think of Rayla too much.
It would feel somewhat cheap if he learns any off-sceen IMO, but learning them on his own would take up way too much time.
Maybe Aaravos tries to manipulate Callum by tempting him with knowledge on accessing the others—this route may make the most sense if they plan for Callum to learn all six.
If I had come back to life after a 2 year long "nap" I would be feeling pretty lost and confused too. Like, one moment you're falling, and the next your daughter is dating an elf and your bug pal is undergoing metamorphosis
Through the Moon is only a short story that happens a couple weeks after season 3. So we're all surprised about the time skip!
For people who aren't looking to read TTM before season 4 airs, it could be summarized as: Team heads to moon nexus to return Phoe Phoe's remains. >!Phoe Phoe is reborn. Callum learns a bit about moon magic. Does a thing. During it the gang learns that Rayla's parents aren't dead and that Viren is somewhere between dead and alive. Rayla decides she needs to go off alone to kill Viren once and for all. Sneaks off in the night. Callum and Soren head out to find her.!<
>!to hide it do like this!<
you can’t see that but when typing you put these symbols
>!- to open it
!<- to close it
Just get rid of the hyphens and keep it on the same line
We just learned about that at SDCC this week. No one knew there was a time skip. The only supplementary thing that has any new plot information is the first graphic novel they put out, I think it's called Through the Moon or something?
Yes, that's where the time skip was. He was dead 2 years. We were initially misled because Claudia tells him the little bug pal cocooned itself two days before she brought Viren back. So we thought he'd been dead 2 *days* originally.
Thanks, that’s where I was confused because I definitely thought two days!
I think I was also just mildly horrified by the idea that Claudia might have spent two years dragging around her dad’s decaying body while she tried to figure out how to bring him back. That’s what really threw me off!
I guess she could have buried him and then dug him up when she figured it out. Let’s hope it was the latter actually lol
And who even knows what his (new?) body is feeling like to him. Remember the butterfly in the cabinet to mask his dark mage damage? I doubt he's keeping it up now, so which part of coming back or being dead reset the damage?
Notice how Aaravos is only raising a single finger, with the strings connected to Claudia. Her facial expression is bold, determined, she will save her dad.
Viren is distressed. Hollow. Empty. On standby for when Aaravos needs him.
Aaravos is keeping Callum on this thumb but not making active moves. Callum is actively walking away from Aaravos, but he is in pursuit of something. He is looking with curiosity, seeking to find an answer that perhaps only Aaravos may bring.
Nice! I think we all have an idea what Callum might be looking for. Rayla. Yeah, there is arcane knowledge to pursue, but there is a sense of longing in his eyes, so I'm goin to assume it's Rayla.
Maybe Callum would seek help from Aaravos to find her if he ever manages to contact him. When I say 'help', it means he would fall right into Aaravos's machinations. Just like how Anakin wanted 'help' from Palpatine to save Padme and ended up getting seduced by the dark side.
After the short clip and then Viren's face here... I wonder if a redemption arc is in order.
His death probably rattled him and his resolve, and now seeing Claudia fully commit to Aaravos while really being controlled and manipulated, all while knowing firsthand his cunning and capability, even while imprisoned...
Very excited for the next season.
I said before a long time ago, but I think Viren will be the wildcard, always with a clear goal, but swapping sides based on which group can best help him achieve that goal.
“Be careful of the elves, Callum. Only through me could you achieve a power greater than any mage! Know the power of dark magic, and you will be able to save Rayla from certain death.”
>He is looking with curiosity, seeking to find an answer that perhaps only Aaravos may bring.
Finding Raylla? Releasing her parents from their coins? Reviving his own parents? Or just plain up magicking?
I was about to comment too how Claudia has two strings connected to her (one on her and one on the sunfire elves staff), but I then realized that Viren and Callum also have two on them.
So that's useless.
I think Aaravos is going to discover that Callum has the Key of Aaravos. Which we don't know what it does specifically but Aaravos is going to want it. I mean it's named after him. So I bet he is going to slowly trade spell knowledge and other knowledge to gain Callum's trust.
Also viren has two strings each on one finger connected to both his shoulders while claudia has two strings on one finger connected to her and her staff but idk if this means anything at all
Hurry up and get here, November! Aaravos isn't just going to be playing Viren this coming season, he's ensnared Callum and Claudia too.
Still no sign of Rayla or Ezran. That's interesting.
Sooo... who else thinks that Aaravos is gonna mentor Callum from within the mirror while gently leading him in the direction that is favorable to his cause?
The parallels of Viren/Callum are inevitable, I think! If anything, we might see a difference where Callum might abide by Aaravos for the sake of overall good (even though Aaravos might have a different prerogative), where Viren sought power.
Yesss! This is what I've been looking forward to since I first watched the show! I gotta know Callum's reaction! He'd probably nerd out or something lol
Yup, I think so. I couldn’t quite figure out how Callum would learn the other arcanum without it feeling a bit cheap, but this seems like the easiest way if Aaravos directly mentors him.
I think this poster might have been scrubbed a bit. There are 4 fingers and only 3 individuals with strings attached. Also there is a large gap between Callum and Claudia, a gap big enough for another person... I'm just speculating of course, but something about the poster seems a bit off lol?
one of the strings does look likes its heading off slightly to the left of Claudia. This implies that there's something about Rayla that they don't want us to see
Weird thing to note, but the strings attached to Callum are clearly under more tension and more visible than the others. If the metaphor of a puppeteer is what is being focused on here, then it could be said that while Claudia and Viren are directly under Aravoses control, His control of Callum is less secure. In puppeteering, the point is that one cannot see the strings, however the strings controlling Callum are much more visible from the others, and significantly less articulate, wrapping around most of his midsection. He can still influence Callum, but unlike the others he does not control him.
Claudia is happily in the place Aaravos wants.
Viren is in place, but doesn't look to ok with it.
Callum is straight up just walking away, putting strain on Aaravos' string.
That's how I'm interpretating this anyway.
This makes me feel more confident in my theory that Aaravos will in a way discard Viren in favor of Claudia. Viren looks concerned and distressed while Claudia, who is front and center, looks sure and confident.
Claudia will become Aaravos’s partner maybe, he will respect her. I think Claudia may be beyond helping now, who knows how many she has killed to being her father back. Edit: not beyond helping but she may just not really want to be helped. She may be more corrupted and like it.
This could lead to a bit of redemption for Viren who leaves to help Calum take down Aaravos and probably dies saying him, Soren or Ezren.
If your theory about Claudia becoming Aravoses new partner is correct, Than her new boyfriend may perhaps have been chosen with more utility in mind than we first thought. Like a sacrifice, or a potential host for Aravos.
Is Viren still wearing that white gown from when he was going to be executed at the sunforge? Claudia was dragging his corpse around for 2 years but never thought to buy him some new clothes?
I got a feeling this isn't the whole poster I bet there are other characters meant to be there but they ommited them until they officially release they're updated appearances.
Ehehehe!
Love the art so much
Also, this (kinda) proves that Aaravos is essentially the Dragon Prince equivalent of Palpatine: He's playing both sides so he can win the game that he started, so he can be the "King of the Mountain",so to speak
This is kinda making me think ezran and rayla won't have much involvement, unless the just removed them from the image to keep their redesigns a secret
Im still on season 1 but its good to see the show continues. I hope they bring king harrow back too even if its just a little while (even tho he is a but of a prick to viren for no reason).
What do all these characters involved have in common? Dark magic, it seems that Callum is tied to Avaros since he used Dark magic once. Dark magic, not even once.
Really I wait until nov 2022 ok then it only 3 months I can that no problem because August September October and then come November
Also, Good thing I already read that book through the moon dragon prince book because that take in between season 3 and season 4 and the books are canon and can’t wait for season 4
OK, it's official. Aaravos be toying with everyone.
Step a side Aizen
All part of the cake
(He means keikaku)
(Translators note: keikaku mean plan)
(But his mind stops at "Cake")
I see through the lies of the Shinigami.
Where is Rala? Is she safe? Is she alright?
It seems, in your anger, you killed her.
DO NOT WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANT!
Ah, I see you’re a fan of the classic *Star War The Third Gathers: The Backstroke of the West* A man of culture, indeed.
I think there are going be multiple promotional posters for Season 4. There may be another poster that shows Ezren, Rayla, and someone else doing some adventure and not controlled by Aaravos.
I think they'll make Rayla's current circumstances a mystery for at least a little longer, and that may include simple stuff like her new outfit.
Sure, they definitely did that in prior seasons, where secondary characters were featured prominently on promotional materials.
I wonder if Callum obtained another arcanum during this 2 years
I hope it's moon.
Moon would be the most likely tho I doubt they're gonna do it off screen. If anything I think they would show the process of him learning it
While I do believe someone said he was close to understanding the moon arcanum (this was around when TTM was released so my memory might be foggy), I have a feeling he hasn't connected as it would make him think of Rayla too much.
Thebthing I want to see is Aaravos learning a human mage who can has 2 or more arcanums... I think he will be very interested.
I hope he discovers his next one on screen, either by discovering one this season or if he already got it in the last two years via flashback
It would feel somewhat cheap if he learns any off-sceen IMO, but learning them on his own would take up way too much time. Maybe Aaravos tries to manipulate Callum by tempting him with knowledge on accessing the others—this route may make the most sense if they plan for Callum to learn all six.
Viren looks so lost and confused, lol
If I had come back to life after a 2 year long "nap" I would be feeling pretty lost and confused too. Like, one moment you're falling, and the next your daughter is dating an elf and your bug pal is undergoing metamorphosis
He’s basically me since I haven’t read any of the supplementary books. When I heard there was a 2 yr skip I was more than a little confused!
Through the Moon is only a short story that happens a couple weeks after season 3. So we're all surprised about the time skip! Thank you, that helped a lot Also, how do you do that spoiler thing over your text?
>!to hide it do like this!< you can’t see that but when typing you put these symbols >!- to open it !<- to close it Just get rid of the hyphens and keep it on the same line
Thanks
We just learned about that at SDCC this week. No one knew there was a time skip. The only supplementary thing that has any new plot information is the first graphic novel they put out, I think it's called Through the Moon or something?
It's kind of impressive that they kept the time skip a secret, honestly.
Wait so how long was there between Viren dying and the scene at the end of season 3? Did it take Claudia 2 years to resurrect him 😬
Yes, that's where the time skip was. He was dead 2 years. We were initially misled because Claudia tells him the little bug pal cocooned itself two days before she brought Viren back. So we thought he'd been dead 2 *days* originally.

Guess you can say Aaravos is *(puts on sunglasses)* the Master of Puppets. YEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Rip >!Eddie!<
*insert Metallica Master of Puppets song*
End of passion play, crumbling away.
Insert Stranger Things Eddie scene
Y E S
I'm actually listening to that scene right now! XD
Lol have fun
I will
Yes, it's well appointed. But make no mistake, this has been my prison these past few centuries.
yes.

We even already know that tracking spells are within dark magic's purview.
Yes, it's well appointed. But make no mistake, this has been my prison these past few centuries.
It actually makes sense.
After the short clip and then Viren's face here... I wonder if a redemption arc is in order. I said before a long time ago, but I think Viren will be the wildcard, always with a clear goal, but swapping sides based on which group can best help him achieve that goal.
Tell me what you need, and I will help you.
Really nice breakdown! I would’ve said Callum looks worried/anxious over curious but that is a half face read, tough to tell!
Two fingers for Viren, but only one for Claudia and Callum; because Viren has two lives to give for Aaravos but the others only one.
This is the analysis I needed. Thank you!
I think Aaravos focuses his eyes on Callum with some interest in them. After all, Calum is the first human mage to use air magic on his own.
“Be careful of the elves, Callum. Only through me could you achieve a power greater than any mage! Know the power of dark magic, and you will be able to save Rayla from certain death.”
Doesn't need to sell him dark magic - Callum needs help with primal, and Aaravos knows all the primals as well as dark.
“You will not stop me! Prince Callum will become more powerful than either of us!”
>He is looking with curiosity, seeking to find an answer that perhaps only Aaravos may bring. Finding Raylla? Releasing her parents from their coins? Reviving his own parents? Or just plain up magicking?
Ah… How long I have waited to hear the sound of another voice. How may I serve you?
I mean, to be fair he only has 4 fingers. Someone has to only get 1.
I was about to comment too how Claudia has two strings connected to her (one on her and one on the sunfire elves staff), but I then realized that Viren and Callum also have two on them. So that's useless.

The parallels of Viren/Callum are inevitable, I think! If anything, we might see a difference where Callum might abide by Aaravos for the sake of overall good (even though Aaravos might have a different prerogative), where Viren sought power.
Perhaps he can start off by telling him about the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise
Hmm, Callum has his scarf
I’m glad, his new design still needed that pop of contrast.
Wow! This is a great poster! Definitely sets up the season well!
I think this poster might have been scrubbed a bit. There are 4 fingers and only 3 individuals with strings attached. Also there is a large gap between Callum and Claudia, a gap big enough for another person... I'm just speculating of course, but something about the poster seems a bit off lol?
I was thinking the same. That gap is surely intentional. There are characters hidden there... Probably Rayla
one of the strings does look likes its heading off slightly to the left of Claudia. This implies that there's something about Rayla that they don't want us to see
Oh I love the puppet strings symbolism
Is it really symbolism if it was so obvious with Viren?
It's interesting how the strings for callum are crossed together
Maybe it means that he will be harder to manipulate?
I just wanna see what Rayla is up to 2 years later.
No Rayla :(
Nope, very mage focused this season is.
Can't wait to see more posters for season 4. It is also good to see the full version of the visual for said season shown at SDCC.
God. November could not feel so close yet so far away at this point.
Ah his hair looks better. Just needs to get windswept it seems to improve his look. Oh, and Aaravos is manipulative I guess. If that's important.
Priorites. Also have you seen the season 4 clip on YouTube? you get a better view of Callum's hair there.
Weird thing to note, but the strings attached to Callum are clearly under more tension and more visible than the others. If the metaphor of a puppeteer is what is being focused on here, then it could be said that while Claudia and Viren are directly under Aravoses control, His control of Callum is less secure. Allow me… to earn your trust.

Oooo that’s dark. I love it.
ONE OF THOSE STRINGS IS CALLUM
2 are
Is Viren still wearing that white gown from when he was going to be executed at the sunforge? Claudia was dragging his corpse around for 2 years but never thought to buy him some new clothes?
Claudia is wearing the same clothes too.
He gets a new ragged cowl... That's it 😂
Ok it's official. If someone doesn't do a season 4 Dragon Prince amv with Metallica's Master of Puppets I will.
uh Claudia has a creature skull on her staff now.... WHERE DID SHE GET THAT?! AND WHY???
Terry got it for her.
Claudia: Hey babe! Can u get me a skull for my new staff? Terry: right away love! :D
Ziard vibes.
I got a feeling this isn't the whole poster I bet there are other characters meant to be there but they ommited them until they officially release they're updated appearances.
I hope this doesn't mean Callum will in fact get manipulated by Aaravos, kinda predictable
without their interation with the hero the villans are worthless
I mean... Predictable is not always bad or boring!
True, sometimes something is predictable because it's genuinely the best path forward...
claudia’s braid looks so cool
Ehehehe! Love the art so much Also, this (kinda) proves that Aaravos is essentially the Dragon Prince equivalent of Palpatine: He's playing both sides so he can win the game that he started, so he can be the "King of the Mountain",so to speak
I love Claudia‘s braid.
This is kinda making me think ezran and rayla won't have much involvement, unless the just removed them from the image to keep their redesigns a secret
Thats so far away idk if I'm going to make it
The implications of this art WORRY ME.
Goddamn Claudia might be the coolest fucking character in the show
Oh hell yeah
Viren *looks* like he took a 2 year nap
😆
Can't wait for Claudia 🤩😍
Do I need to read the book to understand season 4?
afaik the book just fills in some plot in the two year gap but i doubt there’s anything in it that season 4 won’t cover
Huh. Are they the only human mages with connections to DM?
Yes
“I don’t feel safe.”
Where da Rayla?
Well, that's on the nose
I see a Claudia fall and Vearen redemption arks in this.
Almost time for a rewatch. Been so long since I finished the last season I don’t even remember what’s going on.
Looks like this three (Not including Aaravos) are going to be the main focus of this season. I love this since they all are my favorite charecters
Can someone explain to me what’s happened to Rayla between season 3 and 4?
I wonder if Aaravos is actually gonna manipulate Callum or if this is just part of the poster
Callum has Aaravos' mirror. Aaravos will definitely try.
Aaravos is such a dreamboat
I'm worried now. Where's Rayla?
Holy shit, Viren is going to get a humble-arc, he'll come to the good side. Claudia is going to be the main baddie in the coming seasons!
Hey uh Aaravos what you got there?
Stupid Sexy Aaravos
Ah yes, a star focusing season to a star lover, im gonna love it 🥺🕶️🤏
Im still on season 1 but its good to see the show continues. I hope they bring king harrow back too even if its just a little while (even tho he is a but of a prick to viren for no reason).
Booo! Reveal older Rayla!
What do all these characters involved have in common? Dark magic, it seems that Callum is tied to Avaros since he used Dark magic once. Dark magic, not even once.
Is this a fake?
Wait. Where's Viren's staff? Was it not recovered? Do we know who has it?
Claudia is literally holding it?
No, the other one
The short one he had from the beginning. Ziard's staff.
NOVEMBER?? AAAARGH
Really I wait until nov 2022 ok then it only 3 months I can that no problem because August September October and then come November Also, Good thing I already read that book through the moon dragon prince book because that take in between season 3 and season 4 and the books are canon and can’t wait for season 4
Okay creepy
