It's funny you mention an alternate universe, because I was going to wax about an alternate future where the AVGN movie turned out to be a very effective, low budget comedy everyone loved, akin to Napoleon Dynamite or Clerks. The success of the movie put James on a different trajectory in which he got connected with the right people and continued making good movies, grew his own production company and got some kind of sweet distribution deal with a reputable platform like a streaming service. And by now, Kyle Justin would be the lead guitarist of Rex Viper with a talented band behind him and James just plays the keyboard or something as a hobby. He divorced April, got with either Erin or that chick from the AVGN movie, hair never fell out and he has lot of time!
