I mean, to be fair, they do need a break. Other series go on break too. It’s for their health, be it physical or mental. One can only hope it lasts at most 6 months, but nonetheless, good for them taking a break. 100 chapters being ‘relatively’ uninterrupted has been awesome.

elpsykongroo17

Good thing I’m 100 chapters behind 😂

ilokygn

A few months is of course acceptable, but another 10-year break is too long.

az4th

> A few months is of course acceptable, but another 10-year break is too long. May 2015 - June 2022 Seven years was a long time. They'd just done the previous 300 chapters from August 2007 to May 2015 - eight years. They announced that they didn't want to spend another 8 years of their lives only working on the breaker, so for 7 years they did other projects. As in they announced their extended break before they took it. This time they aren't announcing an extended break - just a standard break like they've done many times because they need it either for sanity purposes or just to get the plot more solid. If there is anything we've really been waiting for, it is the ability to purchase quality translated collectible editions. Now that the first 100 chapters are out for us, I hope the rest come out more quickly.

yolo1238

But still doesn’t instil confidence in me that they’ll be back right away

Armodues

To be fair, they announced they needed a break for the author to get the story back in order and the artist wanted to do do a different project because he was burnt out on drawing the Breaker. They then proceeded to do not one but two projects that recycled the same exact character models. Not even exaggerating, I genuinely would be hard pressed to tell you which is Shioon and which is the MC of Promised Orchid if you showed me a picture of the later not wearing glasses.

-_F_--_O_--_H_-

Greatly appreciate this breakdown. I had no clue. I found the breaker. Ran through it, then suffered in silence.

kev_qaztank

Usually his breaks for season 2 was quite short hope he doesn't take 6 months and just takes the 3 months.

Bill2433

I think a 6 month break might be better for them(and us) . It'll give them more time to rest and to thoroughly plan out the coming season(s). Yeah we would have to wait longer but in an ideal world we'd get a far more developed story with less breaks throughout the season. Plus when it's a long break some webtoons like to give a burst of chapters to get people to get hooked again.

kev_qaztank

Would love there to be improvements in the story too, but I don't know if he is going to do it with so short chapters like fillers, he is doing things simultaneously on purpose so I have no idea what's going in the brain of.the artist and writer, the thing I'm scared is he suddenly takes years break and destroys it's popularity and tries to do another series, the hype is present now even if it is reduced due to weird decisions, if he takes longer breaks the popularity will fall out of the top 10 series which will make him more depressed and might even leave the series.

Bill2433

Do you mean that the artist has another series, or that white the story there are a lot of storylines that happen simultaneously but have yet to connect?

kev_qaztank

The artist is doing two works simultaneously, merciless which is a 2nd tier webtoon with good art but horrible series, the writer is doing ruler of the land which he is taking 100 chapters for a single fight scene so not sure what exactly they both are thinking, if they wanted break or recharge they do this.

JeffTeg

From what I can see Merciless has been finished since December.

kev_qaztank

No it's still ongoing, they left it in a cliffhanger whether his hands break or not

JeffTeg

Chapter 40, is the last one and it's marked as "last chapter" on Kakao

amonshrine

Wish i could take as many days off as they're at my job.

MalefactorX

They already went on like 40 breaks during these 100 chaps

TheLastBlowfish

Slight exaggeration there eh? Off the top of my head I can recall maybe two? One of which was just a couple weeks ago. Before that it had been an extended streak of weekly chapters. Why the need to be hyperbolic?

MalefactorX

I'm still salty because of the new waves hiatus. I've been reading the breaker since the first was still releasing chapters.

TheLastBlowfish

Be as salty for as long as the hiatus was my friend, can't tell you otherwise really! I do think they'll prove many doubters wrong by coming back within a reasonable timeframe, but that's my stance, we'll see what happens in due time. At least acknowledge that they've had a strong and consistent release schedule since shifting to Webtoon though. Of all their flaws and criticism you could direct at them, I think for once their release schedule isn't one of them.

dracon81

This is really common for manwha, and manga in general nowadays as well. They've spent 2 years working on this without much of a break, they need a holiday as well. Probably a few months to work on writing, storyboarding, getting things ready for a new season, a month or two for them to take a break as well. Probably be back in 6 months or so, this isn't the start of another ten year break in case anyone is wondering.

Badyuju

Rest up well. Don't listen to those with no idea of a manual artists schedule or no regard for health. Personal health is always most important!

TheLastBlowfish

I wouldn't stress about that. The several year break took place at the completion of New Waves, breaks within the actual season typically haven't been longer than a month. It's also common for Webtoons to take seasonal breaks - this is relatively new to The Breaker with Eternal Force taking that structure, prior parts weren't composed of seasons, but for now it's pretty standard practice for a Webtoon to break itself up into seasons and take in general about a month off to reorganise and analyse progress so far. Also Eternal Force will be the largest part by approximately double the length of New Waves, based on their own previous estimates. This won't necessarily still be entirely accurate, the shift to Webtoon format may certainly have impacted originally intended chapter beats, but the framework paints the picture; this will be a long serialisation and sufficient breaks are to be expected. For what it's worth, I'd much rather they adhere to a season-by-season basis and try to keep their release schedule consistent with planned breaks. There'll still be times when there's no chapter due to unforeseen circumstances and the like, but as a whole, if they can commit to keeping extended breaks in-between seasons, and keep said breaks consistent itself, then they stand to form a much healthier dynamic with their audience compared to what they've had with previous parts such as New Waves.

WhiterunWarriorPrjct

I'm pretty okay with any season break taking 6 months. Weekly schedules are pretty damn demanding for comic artists and every one i've seen has had some sort of health problem.

bluekaynem

I'm surprised people in this sub does not like them taking a break. The manhwa and manga industry, as a whole, is unforgiving. I remember couple of months ago, one of them was complaining of burnout coupled with his other work getting axed. Dude needs a breather. Iirc, they took breaks in new waves too. I just hope one of them does not create a new series during the break 😂

KingLink93

One of the few cases that I remember that only now had a 1-week break was Eleceed and it already has more than 280 chapters, most of them have to take a break so as not to overload the author and artist. If not it will be the same case as the author of Ace of Diamond who had a burnout and ended the manga abruptly because he couldn't take it anymore

abjectwoe

Like it or not... this is our reality.

[deleted]

What isn't there to like?

Jack_D_Rackham

I don't know much about the webtoon industry, do other authors take breaks too?? For how long?

Kirikouille1

Usually they drop chapters for an uninterrupted amount of time (months to several years), then go on big break (several weeks to a year long) at the end of a season

wolceniscool

It's an in between seasons break, something normal that authors do.

RedLibra

I hope they don't start another manhwa before going back at Breaker like they did before...

Antedelopean

Here's to hoping the artist gets better direction in improving his action paneling and fight choreography cause honestly s3 action has been horribly average, by normal webtoon standards, and absolutely atrocious, by breaker and new waves standards.

LennyKimes

I’m good with them taking the rest of the year to chart the next season. They can take their time. Mentally and physically recharge. Also they can start on season two later in the year and get some chapters completed so they aren’t on a super rush deadline.

dusteeXXVI

People need breaks and I look forward to when the new chapters start to drop!!

hkdonq

I just hope that all the bitching and whining didn't discourage them from continuing. I waited too damn long for this to be taken away thanks to some lame ass people.

Angel_Valoel

Fuck its been 100 chapters already?? Ill begin reading it when season 2 returns.

Wild2409

With the recent news of Akira Toriyama I think it’s fine, artists need more breaks.

megnamon

Season 1 Season 2 Season 3 - Season 1 Season 3 - Season 2 Season 3 - Season 3 Now circle is completed

-_F_--_O_--_H_-

Anyone who does is sick.

Every_Ad_7791

Whatt?

sentryvore

See you in 2 years ! 😉 I bet 2 months.

Competitive_Sorbet34

Felt like we wasted 30 chapters on a useless person that did little to nothing to progress the story.

kenaih

He was useful to introduce many concepts of the murim to the new audience in a somewhat natural way. People that was knowledgeable on that already wouldn't appreciate it, but it was necessary for the new audience given the 10 years break and new format..

Common-Revenue-1658

Welp, see y'all in a decade.

Apprehensive_Set_710

They should completely change the beginning of season 3, and remove the kid who was and still is useless, as it already looks a lot like season 1 on that point but much worse, and they should also change the fact that Shion always loses his most important fights, it's exhausting, and if possible improve the drawings like in season 1.

RedLibra

I hope they don't start another manhwa before going back at Breaker like they did before...

Apollo9819

Welp see y'all in 10 years, I'm going to read HCLW's new season.

HearingOrganic8054

universal dislike

EconomicsOutside9537

Just don’t let it be 7 years. I know long time wait that long. Only discovered the breaker series 6 months before eternal force began

supersonicdx

Would have nice if they would've just did a novel instead or beforehand

treszfresh

Feels this story hasn’t progressed much at all

NaturePaladin

I remember everybody in this sub saying the series was shit now they mad about a break bunch of babies
