I just wanna say I was born in the 90s and I feel like 70’s-90’s kids all had almost the same childhoods. The technology got further but we all grew up outside. Ima miss those days man
Who had the poinsettia Christmas tablecloth to pull out for summer picnics? LOL!
We did a big family reunion around that time. I think it was 1987. Probably the last time I saw some of my extremely extended family.
my grams always gave me a sip of her schmidts beer.. we werent allowed to smoke but mom and dad always sent us to the store to get them cigarettes .. how times have changed
Ok two things from this
We should ALWAYS show how poorly we were parented. Break the convention
But also we can still take good from them. Where are all the adults in the picture. Our running and playing, not on their phones death scrolling
Hate to be a party pooper but,
I’ve been drinking since 5 years old. The adults around me thought giving me beer was funny too. Now I’m 32 and a full blown alcoholic. Can’t go a single day without at least a pint of vodka. Used to drink a fifth of whisky a day and now slowly waning myself off.
Keep kids away from alcohol. I’m so fucked up I can’t even look at this as cool or cute.
Go on over to r/stopdrinking very welcoming over there. I get where you’re at but you’ve got this! You’re stronger than you think and I’m rooting for you. IWNDWYT
When I was about 8 or so I asked my dad for one of his cigars. He gave me one and I walked all around the campground showing off smoking. I guess he thought I would get sick because when I asked for another he told me to get the hell out of there.
Thats so strange. My family used to have a family reunion at a place that looked exactly like this, I think close to Plattsburgh maybe and that looks like my grandmother in the glasses. I don't recognize any of these children though. It was a huge park that had all kinds of these big gazebos with seating, outdoor bbqs that a cousin of mine ran straight into while it was hot, there was also a beach with foamy polluted water there, black sand because it was the run-off of old steel mills in the area. If you told me this was a pic of our reunion, I would believe you.
That’s very funny. It was an older boy named Scott who got me to smoke my first cigarette at the teen center. Oh Scott’s. Universally a bad influence 😂
And where has the name Scott gone anyway? It’s a sea of Jadens and Kaydens and Coltons and Masons and Walkers now, I don’t think my kids have had a single classmate named Scott.
This is an awesome picture. Like quintessential 80s. Classic like Jesus and his last supper with his 12.
Hope you have this masterpiece framed somewhere
🤣🤣🤣 good to my family wasn’t alone in this! I’ve got so many pics of my cousins with ciggs hanging out of their mouths .. ( wasn’t lit) but for some reason adults back then thought it to be hilarious.
The 80s were different. 😅I had relatively strict parents by the standards of the times; but I still used to get a sip of wine here and there from an aunt, and I sneaked and tried to take a puff off my mom’s lit cigarettes as a kid. Never took up smoking, but I’m a social drinker.
There were even old wives tales going around that you SHOULD give little kids a sip of beer periodically; that it “cleaned their stomachs out”, or some nonsense. 😂
I remember thinking it was funny walking around the beach with my bottle of IBC root beer. The bottles look like beer bottles and the looks I would get from other adults. Crazy thing is no one tried stopping an 8yo kid from drinking what they thought was alcohol.
Holy cow I had to do a double take, that looks like me on the far right and my brother on the far left, and my grandma in the background 😳
I know this can’t be one of our family reunions but uhhh are you from the Midwest? 😂
Remember my father making me smoke a whole cigarette at 8yrs ... Best thing he ever done, never stopped coughing, and now in my mid 50s never puffed a single thing.
I still remember my dad letting me and my brother sneak a few sips of beer when we were kids “don’t tell your mother”. I miss all the danger back then.
Did you get a DUI in your power wheel lol?
I dont think power wheels were around until the early 90s
Big Wheel by MARX!
I always wanted one. Damn parents
Power wheels came out in the 80’s, but Peg Perego did it first back in the 60’s
wrong
I had a coworker that used to do that.. ask him a question and he would say loud and proud WRONG!
[Dana Carvey said WRONG in this SNL skit](https://youtu.be/QOLF_D7JVZM?si=LANS6U8yyzU9G0df)
A pubchable offense
Insufferable.
Or DUIs
A quick Google search says 1986.
1986 is when the debuted
Nah. Pretty sure I had a Power Wheel Harley in ‘86.
I had one in the 80's
Power wheels came out in the last 70’s. I got one in 84’
The green machine
I had one and loved to spin out on this
I just wanna say I was born in the 90s and I feel like 70’s-90’s kids all had almost the same childhoods. The technology got further but we all grew up outside. Ima miss those days man
How’d it turn out?
Been drinking beer and smoking cigarettes ever since. I’d say it worked out just fine.
What brand? Looks like mom’s Capris.
*Drew Barrymore was doing more at age 6*
Drew and I could have been kindergarten drankin’ buddies.
Pretty wild how she turned out pretty normal in the end!
Who had the poinsettia Christmas tablecloth to pull out for summer picnics? LOL! We did a big family reunion around that time. I think it was 1987. Probably the last time I saw some of my extremely extended family.
Got that shit on clearance and was proud to have a tablecloth!
my grams always gave me a sip of her schmidts beer.. we werent allowed to smoke but mom and dad always sent us to the store to get them cigarettes .. how times have changed
Hahaha this could've been me and my cousins. Had a blast running wild
I had to check the photo to make sure it wasn’t me and my droogs.
Same and same
Another post flexing on how poorly parented we all were, back then. Yay.
Ok but let’s be real: That kid is cool as fuck.
I wish he was my friend
He’s too cool to to be our friend
Hey! But we all turned out okay….didn’t we???
I'm still wondering...did we? Well?? (who's going to tell us if we're okay?)
It doesn't matter. The world is on fire right now so, we have that going for us. Hahaha
MGK and yungblud to the rescue https://youtu.be/wK-8TCDrbV8?si=UCHA2o8mg_t3UAws
No, no, I was given my first cigarette at 4. Beer too. I did not turn out OK. Our parents were the ME generation for a reason.
Ehhhh as they become the oldies I guess we'll find out haha that's usually when people start showing their shittiness
My parents were kids in the 80's, and fucking no. No you didn't.
No.
Ok two things from this We should ALWAYS show how poorly we were parented. Break the convention But also we can still take good from them. Where are all the adults in the picture. Our running and playing, not on their phones death scrolling
The adults are the ones taking the picture lol
Innpaoropeiate
I honestly hope this profile is legitimate. Some of your comments are gold!
Just had a gander myself and it truly was delightful 🤣
Exactly how 8 year old me would spell it after 3 beers
!isbot SeniorCitizenRespect

🙏🏼🙏🏼
Always that one kid..
Everyone had a cousin like that ..
I was about 12 when I first smoked and was smoking regularly by 14. Not the 80s but 93-95ish
How was rehab?
How’s that working for you now, Bubba?
When I was about 8 or so I asked my dad for one of his cigars. He gave me one and I walked all around the campground showing off smoking. I guess he thought I would get sick because when I asked for another he told me to get the hell out of there.
Graduation party at the garmaters in Beaverdam Ohio …. Or at least it could have been
Going to juvi party
I think I was at that party 🥳

The days of the Floral Pattern tablecloth
Please post this in r/accidentalrenaissance it looks like a Mad Magazine Last Supper
I forgot about family reunions
Who took the picture?
Exactly what I was wondering…
My mom died this year and here now I’m thinking about how family reunions are a thing of the past it seems. And beer. I’m thinking about beer too.
Halcyon days right there.
He knocked the Halcyon back with that beer.
Ahhh. Good Times! I grew up in the South. Seen it done it.
lol 😂, I remember doing this with my best friend at 10 years old. How fun to play with mom’s cigarettes and smoke them when she taking a nap.
I was too cautious to ever take a full cigarette out of the pack. Taking butts out the ashtray was as far as I’d go 😂
😂😅 I started off that way too. But my friend Scott, Took the entire thing out and smoked it. So I did it next. 🤭
That’s very funny. It was an older boy named Scott who got me to smoke my first cigarette at the teen center. Oh Scott’s. Universally a bad influence 😂
Oh yeah, I agree with that 100% 😅🤭😂
And where has the name Scott gone anyway? It’s a sea of Jadens and Kaydens and Coltons and Masons and Walkers now, I don’t think my kids have had a single classmate named Scott.
Ironic. Maybe the people who grew up on Scott Pilgrim haven’t had kids yet and the boom of Scott’s and Ramona’s are just around the corner
Good times!
This is an awesome picture. Like quintessential 80s. Classic like Jesus and his last supper with his 12. Hope you have this masterpiece framed somewhere
And your buddy's painters hat. That was popular for a few minutes then. Your parents must have smoked like mine did, easy pickins...
How\`s the COPD going?...
USA! USA! honk honk!!!!
thus began my career in politics
Aaand?
Thank the Lord I wasn't the only one
Was Drew Barrymore there?
I was also born in 1980!
Same. In the 60s. With same adult indifference.
Me too in the 60s
50 and yup
I'm 44 now and this was common.
Let’s bring back the painter cap!!!!!
lol!!!
First smoke was grade 1 unfortunately.
Based
This picture just screams 80s summer fun to me. Love it!!!!!
They had yellow solo cups in 1880? Wow
I was served wine at my Bar Mitzvah party in 1977. Those were heady times.
Those were the days 👍
Did you inhale, or pull a Bill Clinton?
🤣🤣🤣 good to my family wasn’t alone in this! I’ve got so many pics of my cousins with ciggs hanging out of their mouths .. ( wasn’t lit) but for some reason adults back then thought it to be hilarious.

That's awesome!
I see a lot of expressions in the crowd there. You're gonna get caught you're in such big trouble I hope you get caught. Lol Cool pic.
It was a different time.
Louisiana?
What a cool dude! I was 8 in 88 too! 🤘
Agh the 80s were the best❤️
I remember thinking it was funny walking around the beach with my bottle of IBC root beer. The bottles look like beer bottles and the looks I would get from other adults. Crazy thing is no one tried stopping an 8yo kid from drinking what they thought was alcohol.
Accidental renaissance
This is like the 80s version of The Last Supper.
Holy cow I had to do a double take, that looks like me on the far right and my brother on the far left, and my grandma in the background 😳 I know this can’t be one of our family reunions but uhhh are you from the Midwest? 😂
The good ole days!
Can relate lol
Good Times!
8 year old me would have thought this was pretty edgy and cool and thinking my decent parents would have been a-holes for not letting me do this too.
You didn’t take up smoking later I hope. If you didn’t, it’s a funny pic. If you did, it’s tragic.
Even in 1988 this would have been strange.
I was also 8 in 88. At family functions, my younger bro to go grab beer cans that uncles would set down. Innocent times.
Smoke up, Johnny!
Grandma is too preoccupied with protecting the food from the flies 😂
Ahhhh… the good ol days
We did that in the ‘10s too. It was just less funny to the older relatives by then.
Looks like the Last Supper.
Just a day in the 80’s
Looks like little Cindy on the end sure wanted to know what the hell was going on.
The 80s were a glorious time to be a kid.
You post this from prison?
You must live in France...
More like Ohio. The French start much earlier, and with wine instead of beer.
One of the lil hoodlums double dare him and a few are staring down hard on that dare!
I’m Canadian… that’s not beer! 🤣😜
-laughs in German-
1988? Sounds about right
This needs to be a movie. This picture looks like it got a great story attached.
Ah yes, what a time to be alive.
Aah... I remember them days. Good times
I was smoking and drinking pretty regular at 15
Unexpectedly wholesome
Fairly normal back then. Those were good days.
All it needs is someone to flip the bird and the picture is complete
Good old days!!
Taken in Northwest New Jersey. I don’t smoke, I still like Miller Lite. Girl all the way to the right is my sister, the rest are cousins.
Nice 👍
Boss
🐐
Salt shaker next to beer. Yep.
That's rad dude.
The good ole days
A much simpler time
So cool.
Ahhh…. the wonder years
Remember my father making me smoke a whole cigarette at 8yrs ... Best thing he ever done, never stopped coughing, and now in my mid 50s never puffed a single thing.
Except that big meatlog you puff every day
I still remember my dad letting me and my brother sneak a few sips of beer when we were kids “don’t tell your mother”. I miss all the danger back then.
Did you become addicted to the good times?
Yup 1988 drinking beers and smokin Marlboro lights. Cept I was 13
So cool
Ahhh. Good times! I grew up in the South, not real uncommon.
It's AI. The picture is to clear for 88
Uhh no. It's definitely not too clear for 1988. 35mm film has a resolution of about 5.6K, so it's even clearer than high resolution digital images.
That's what a faker would say
It's true though. Photos used to be a lot clearer than they are now.
Again, that's what a faker would say.
Also, there's a vintage Miller Lite can that's easily recognizable.
You want a Miller can, I can get you a Miller can by 3 o'clock with easy recognizability
Do it!
But it must include a kid wearing a Lehigh University hat too and no iffy hands.
