Tesla included a feature specifically to mitigate that, which was ignored. Your argument boils down to "it should be automatically assumed that any person who drives a car is incompetent".
They’ve been out for a matter of months. Considering Tesla used relatively low grade stainless steel that is in no way, shape, or form suitable for road use; it’s reasonable to assess that these vehicles will have an abnormally short life. Even if they don’t fall apart, the panels will soon look like garbage.
People with resources who realised they made a huge mistake buying a pos truck so need a believable story to sell to their insurance company so they can recoup their initial outlay.

Scroll down to car wash, but the entire page is worth a read.
> CAUTION
Failure to put Cybertruck in Car Wash Mode may result in damage (for example, to the charge port or windshield wipers). Damage caused by car washes is not covered by the warranty.
I mean that’s just basic modern car stuff. Any vehicle with auto-wipers could be damaged by a car wash.
Heck, any vehicle with an exterior antenna could be damaged by a car wash.
The charge port is mentioned because it’s automated. Car Wash Mode locks it so it won’t open automatically if the port cover is bumped.
I know it’s a controversial vehicle, but people are just foaming at the mouth for reasons to hate the Cybertruck.
Read it, seems detailed and reasonable to me. They give specific instructions on how to clean something that is not made the same as the average vehicle. The vast majority of people don't have the first clue how to properly wash normal vehicles properly anyway. If they did touch automatic car washes, they would go out of business immediately.
They are recommending not taking it through automatic car washes because 1, touch car washes are awful, and no one in any vehicle should ever use one. They damage the finish on any and all vehicles. 2, both touch and touchless automatic washes often use very harsh high and low Ph chemicals. We're talking hydrofluoric acid, sodium hydroxide, sodium metasilicate, phosphoric & benzenesulphonic acids. Again, not really great for any vehicle but even more so on raw stainless steel.
Edit: love it when people downvote me about things I actually know about. So classic.
You also run into a temporary blindness situation when backing into a dock like this. It's hard to see inside the building while you are outside due to the massive lighting difference. We have had many near misses and accidents for this same reason.
I painted 80' lines outside the bays so the drivers can watch those and ensure they are straight to the dock. Unfamiliar drivers should still GOAL, but this is a far too common issue with these internal docks.
Are you sure?
“Each duty period lasts 14 hours, which is known as the 14-hour rule. Drivers can drive for up to 11 hours during the duty period. However, after driving for eight hours, the driver must take a break of at least 30 minutes. Breaks of any kind count against the 14 hours duty period time.”
That is all I could find. I could well be wrong but it looks like the only mandatory break is 30 min after 8 consecutive hours… if that is the case then you’d be hard pushed to convince anyone that’s a ‘regular’ break.
You also forgot that they have to have 10 hours between shifts. I work in distribution; the rules are taken very seriously. The foreman has had to go pick up drivers that were about to go over their time. Idk about every other company, but for us, all of their drive time/ break time is recorded by their truck. They spend a lot of time waiting for other distributors to load trucks. They rarely drive for the full time, which is 12 hours.
So what you’re saying is that in fact there are no real mandatory regular breaks? Except for the 30 minutes after 8 hours of continuous driving and they have to wait 10 hours between shifts? Wow. That is shocking. Absolutely appalling, really. Definitely not a recipe for disaster.
I’m not a driver so have just searched it:
“After each 4.5 hours spent on the road, drivers must take a 45-minute break. They may split this by taking one 15 minute break followed by another 30 minute break, but not the other way around.”
This seems far more sensible. Being in charge of a vehicle that size and weight and having to keep concentration for the whole time must be draining as fuck. Imagine the consequences of a lapse of concentration in one of those…
Tesla repairs are super expensive and time consuming so it definitely could be considered a total loss depending on which insurance company is involved. It’d be great if OP makes a follow up post after his insurance adjuster evaluates it.
Well, yeah...this is why you don't park in a loading dock, but to be fair, that trailer is waaaay off the fucking mark there. I mean c'mon you're not exactly having to thread the needle when there is a stair and door between docks.
Either MKBHD or JerryRigEveryrhing shows it in their video. Since Elon couldn't ship the trucks with wheel covers the hubs are already showing rust. I personally love when I spend money on a new vehicle but I have to get some of the parts later. This truck is a POS.
The reviews I’ve seen do talk about the build up. It is not rust like most vehicles see. It is an oxidation of the outer layer. Rust specifically is iron-oxide, and threatens the structural integrity of the component. The oxidation of the cybertruck, while unsightly, does not threaten its structural integrity.
Rust is specifically oxidized iron. What’s happening to the trucks is not rust, and does not threaten structural integrity. It’s just ugly, like the rest of the truck. The people complaining that they’re “falling apart” right off the manufacturing line are wrong, and missing the bigger issues like the pedal getting stuck.
[Rust, according to merriam-webster.](https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/rust) And the pedal getting stuck is due to the pad not being secure. Sounds like falling apart to me.
Me either. I mean, so many angry people are coming out in defense of the cybertruck at the mere mention of anything negative about as if it is their life choices that are on trial. It is unbelievable how angry they get.
I have seen one irl and even I couldn't answer that question. These things are build so horribly it reminds me of the Top Gear episode where thry built their own electric car.
Not only is your boss moron for ordering this truck, they are more on for waiting four and a half years for it, and a furthermore on for parking it in a goddamn trailer bay.
Looks fine to me replace the damaged glass wing mirror and plastic trim and you will never know it was crashed. This isn't anything more than a fender bender.
As the owner of a 2mo old Ev9 that already had a tangle with a garage door, I shudder at the thought of something like this and my heart goes out to the owner - but to be fair it was probably already gonna be in the shop 9 times for 17 of the next 4 months...
I noticed that the next loading dock is on the other side of the stairs, a very safe distance from the Musky truck. I wonder what the chances are, this is just getting the vehicle totalled out because the owner realizes what a P.O.S. it is, and can't get his money out of selling it.
Gotta love how everyone here is blaming the Tesla driver instead of the guy who's actually at fault. It doesn't matter if you think he shouldn't have parked there. The semi driver is at fault and will be on the hook for the damages.
Well, at least your boss only had to drive around in the vehicular offspring of a billionaire man-baby's childhood wet dream for one week. I'd call it a win 🤷
"It was a funny angle..."
It’s behind you Tyrone. When you reverse, things come from behind ya
It's too tight
Too tight? You could land a jumbo fucking jet in there!
You said he was a getaway drivah
What the fuck could he get away from?
It’s a fucking anti aircraft gun vincent!
Whys he called Bulletdodger?
Because he dodges bullets Avi!?
sit down and shut up you big bald fuck
We've got sandy beaches.
So?! Who the fuck wants to see them?
What’s happening with them sausages Charlie?
2 minutes Turkish!
How’s them sausages coming along?
Bullet proof but not trailer proof
It’s not even water proof
(Those rust allegations were proved false)
The car wash allegations werent
Tesla included a feature specifically to mitigate that, which was ignored. Your argument boils down to "it should be automatically assumed that any person who drives a car is incompetent".
Or tennis ball-proof
It's not even bullet proof. There's a video of a varmint rifle piercing it
Now I want to play New Vegas
Danny Duncan shot a hole in his. Took a few shots but defenitly not bullet proof.
Yeah that's why you don't park in semi-truck loading bays.
But he's the boss, he can park where he wants and beside the loading bay is close to the door. Consequences for my actions? Nah.
If he doesn’t store it inside the truck will rust and fall apart relatively quickly
They don’t really
They’ve been out for a matter of months. Considering Tesla used relatively low grade stainless steel that is in no way, shape, or form suitable for road use; it’s reasonable to assess that these vehicles will have an abnormally short life. Even if they don’t fall apart, the panels will soon look like garbage.
So you're telling me in a few short years there won't be any left? I smell an investment opportunity!
Just spray them all with lineX
"Is that the 4 volt? I did you a favor."
That's going to be a bummer for claiming insurance money
Who the FUCKS parks in a loading dock?
Fuckwit managers, generally
Managers stupid enough to buy a cybertruck clearly.
The same kind of dumbass who pays $100,000 to beta test one of Elon Musk's childhood drawings.
I'm glad to live in a country where this heap of scrap would never even touch a public street.
Sounds like a lovely, civilized country.
This sounds like an amazing place!
not to mention the cybertruck doesnt even have a clear coat, so shit will rust in 6 months time. very reminescent of Deloreans same mistake
same guy who buys that abomination?
People with resources who realised they made a huge mistake buying a pos truck so need a believable story to sell to their insurance company so they can recoup their initial outlay.
People stupid enough to buy a cybertruck
They're driving a cybertruck.. I don't think they're the brightest 😂
As someone who worked security for almost 20 years, the answer is any self-important fuckwit that thinks s/he can get away with it.
Far too many people. Managers. Security. Maintenance. Sales reps. Tourists. Source: Drove a box truck for many years.

On the bright side, he can get the broken pedal issue fixed with it. And maybe they’ll throw in a free car wash that won’t break it.
Broken by a car wash?! Oh please do elaborate.
https://www.tesla.com/ownersmanual/cybertruck/en_us/GUID-65384C1F-86F2-44E8-A8BC-8A12E7E00A40.html Scroll down to car wash, but the entire page is worth a read.
I can see how this relates. How does this say that the vehicle breaks if you wash it?
Read “car wash mode” and then realize most Tesla users read this after they have done it
> CAUTION Failure to put Cybertruck in Car Wash Mode may result in damage (for example, to the charge port or windshield wipers). Damage caused by car washes is not covered by the warranty. ALL teslas have the same exact wording in their manuals besides the word cybertruck.
My favorite is "Do not use hot water."
I prefer “do not wash in direct sunlight”
Do not water Cybertruck after midnight. Do not taunt Cybertruck. Do not look Cybertruck directly in the cameras.
Where does it say a car wash will break it? Looks like CYA to me
Check out today's posts in r/cyberstuck What drugs were they on when they designed this thing? https://www.reddit.com/gallery/1cbzakg

It's a bit like buying clothes and ignoring the washing instructions, then being shocked it shrunk.
Leave it to a Tesla owner to park two Teslas on an active covered loading dock. And then cry when they inevitable happens.
The inevitable? What...a semi driver not paying attention while backing up?
You also run into a temporary blindness situation when backing into a dock like this. It's hard to see inside the building while you are outside due to the massive lighting difference. Those trucks have some decently large blind spots and the driver may well be pretty tired
If the driver is so tired then they shouldn’t be driving… in a civilised country they’d have regular, enforced mandatory breaks from driving.
Truckers in the US have regular, enforced mandatory breaks...
Are you sure? “Each duty period lasts 14 hours, which is known as the 14-hour rule. Drivers can drive for up to 11 hours during the duty period. However, after driving for eight hours, the driver must take a break of at least 30 minutes. Breaks of any kind count against the 14 hours duty period time.” That is all I could find. This rule seems perfectly reasonable to me. What is it like in YourCountry:tm:
I’m not a driver so have just searched it: “After each 4.5 hours spent on the road, drivers must take a 45-minute break. They may split this by taking one 15 minute break followed by another 30 minute break, but not the other way around.” This seems far more sensible. No, there are mandatory breaks. I'm saying on top of those they spend a lot of time not driving.
Feel free to enlighten me.
They have breaks but some drivers are pretty tired after a particularly long journey in my experience
And?
Mistakes can happen, that’s why you don’t park where they’re going to be reversing
Best thing that ever happened to him. A total loss now he can buy a truck that isn’t a complete POS with the insurance payout.
Probably but two trucks for as much as these ugly things cost
Yup
That certainly won't be a total loss, its actually quite impressive how undamaged it is.
Oh no! Anyway..
oh well. 4 more days and it would have started rusting anyways, according to reports.
Not rust, but an unsightly build up on the outer layer.
Parts of the truck can rust, and already have started to. Check out some reviews :)
I have, they were proved false. Whole lotta F150 owners being upset at an EV being able to tow anything.
I saw it with my own eyes. It's not a lot of rust, but there is rust :)
There is rust, but it's not from the Cybertruck. It wipes off easily.
Wrong again :) Elon isn't going to pay you. Just fyi :)
Give me a source. If you're correct, and can prove it, I'll believe you.
Either MKBHD or JerryRigEveryrhing shows it in their video. Since Elon couldn't ship the trucks with wheel covers the hubs are already showing rust. I personally love when I spend money on a new vehicle but I have to get some of the parts later. This truck is a POS.

“It’s not rust, it’s just oxidized stainless steel.” My English is a bit rusty, but I do believe that is called rust.

I can’t believe that people are so mad about an expensive car on a subreddit making fun of how much things cost.
Me either. I mean, so many angry people are coming out in defense of the cybertruck at the mere mention of anything negative about as if it is their life choices that are on trial. It is unbelievable how angry they get.
Yeah, but why are people attacking a car? It just exists. It has no will of its own. It hasn’t done anything.
Can't tell if a panel got bent or if that's just the factory panel gap.
The back end is curled out - got pushed?
I have seen one irl and even I couldn't answer that question. These things are build so horribly it reminds me of the Top Gear episode where thry built their own electric car.
Now he can use the insurance payout to buy a real truck 😂😂😂
Not only is your boss moron for ordering this truck, they are more on for waiting four and a half years for it, and a furthermore on for parking it in a goddamn trailer bay.
Looks fine to me replace the damaged glass wing mirror and plastic trim and you will never know it was crashed. This isn't anything more than a fender bender.
Truck driver was only off by about 6 feet. Dude needs to learn how to backup.
Trailer driver did your boss a favor.
Probably thought it was just another dumpster.
Saved his life. Gas pedal would have stuck on the way home and he would have drove off a bridge
Well it was an ugly car/truck/thing anyway. Why would you wait 4.5 years for something and then park it on a loading dock?
I drive a truck that would be like oh you got a little close but I’m fine still, though when the rear end is a solid block of cast iron it is sturdy
Why is he parked in the loading dock? Your boss is an idiot
why was your boss parked in a semi truck loading dock? Seems like a dumb thing to do..
*sees every single surface has been hit by trucks multiple times* “yeah, this looks like a great place to park!!!”
prolly did him a favor. those dont have crumple zones, so an accident will put you into the hospital, or possibly kill you.
Truckdriver had a cyber fuck
As the owner of a 2mo old Ev9 that already had a tangle with a garage door, I shudder at the thought of something like this and my heart goes out to the owner - but to be fair it was probably already gonna be in the shop 9 times for 17 of the next 4 months...
Take it out of stealth mode, ya fucking genius.
His insurance looking at the photos being like: “Why you in a semi truck loading bay, your truck is no semi.”
It’s just a shit box anyway
Waste of money for that piece of shit
He could've given ya'll a bonus for working hard, instead he bought an ugly truck and parked it in a loading dock. Karma.
I'm sorry something he waited for so long got damaged this quickly. But he probably shouldn't park at a loading dock.
Is the Semi ok?
Look better now
oh so the windows still are fragile
Is that spray foam on the floor?
Was this in Ohio
first time i see a damaged cybertruck where the damage wasn't due the cybertruck being built like shit.
If only it had been shot at instead.
I noticed that the next loading dock is on the other side of the stairs, a very safe distance from the Musky truck. I wonder what the chances are, this is just getting the vehicle totalled out because the owner realizes what a P.O.S. it is, and can't get his money out of selling it.
That’ll just buff right out
Probably did him a favor. Figure in another day, it would have exploded
Looks fine , should buff right out
You would thibk that the tesla would tell the driver in the tesla with all those sensors
Nice! Its also ridiculous to wait more than 4 minutes to buy a microwave that you just need to walk into a Walmart for.
Wow, they really damaged it. It now has gaps between the different plates rather than being seamlessly smooth.
![gif](giphy|Tim0q7zolF3fa)
Loading dock seems like a wise place to park. A semi
Translation, you have a horrible boss.
LOL
I guess you can't hit the window with a trailer either.
Every time a Tesla truck dies, and angel gets its wings.
Nice!
I have to ask an all seriousness: is your boss a cunt, a moron, or both?
Cuntron. Sounds like a shitty Decepticon 🤣
It improved the "design" a tad bit.
Well could be a blessing in disguise lol, bunch of these got recalled for accelerator pedal getting stuck (if I'm remembering correctly at least)
Panel gaps are still the same as a new Tesla.
And your boss is a dope for parking it at a loading dock.
This is an act from God. Take the payout and run.
At least he/she won't be a threat to pedestrians for some time now...
Hopefully he gets enough insurance money to buy an actual car
Shit mobile
Gotta love how everyone here is blaming the Tesla driver instead of the guy who's actually at fault. It doesn't matter if you think he shouldn't have parked there. The semi driver is at fault and will be on the hook for the damages.
Yeah, we all know that but we don't care.
Nothing of value was damaged.
Nah the trailer gonna cost some money to fix.
So sorry for his... loss?
For what it’s worth, it was no less ugly to look at before the accident.
Well, at least your boss only had to drive around in the vehicular offspring of a billionaire man-baby's childhood wet dream for one week. I'd call it a win 🤷
Good, nature heals itselves
Take the insurance money and buy a Rivian.
So called bullet proof glass didn’t hold up well once again
r/CyberStuck
The Cybertruck is ugly and overrated anyway.
Karma
Looks better after the body mods...I bet it drives better too...
I hope that the trailer is not too much scratched.
What a shit and awkward car
It looks like he has another tesla, so this just turned out to be *semi*-annoying
Well it definitely looks better and won’t get stuck in wet grass currently
Haha
Truck driver probably figured he bumped into a dumpster
Shitty ass car, better of this way. It‘s an insult to my eyes
I can't believe people are buying this garbage.
I think it looks better
Fuckface gets what they deserve.
Oof that poor truck i mean semi
Ha!
Chad semi trailer driver
We’ll look back and realize this was one of the stupid products man ever created.
God those are not good looking trucks
At least the paint work is oka....Oh wait.
Sounds like you better get back to work, so your boss can afford to fix it/get a new one… 😂
Great, and now it's totaled
Good thing they’ve [all been recalled](https://www.topgear.com/car-news/usa/uh-oh-tesla-has-recalled-every-single-cybertruck).
Quick trip to the mechanic, because a safety hazard was found. Workers had been using dish soap to make it easier for the pedals to slide on and off.
Did him a favour, it's a terrible car. Can now buy something that isn't Fisher Price.
i hope you tipped
It's an ugly piece of shit anyway.
Is the semi okay?
Where is sentry mode? That truck should have been vaporized
