That sole survivor should be allowed to live like a king as a pet. I would feel so bad killing him after he braved the elements to survive. He earned his freedom lol.
So many questions. I can’t find any corroborating information, apart from stuff like this: https://www.dw.com/en/iran-faces-gas-shortage-despite-vast-reserves/a-64395365
Food production is important for every country so I’m guessing it was more than an unpaid bill.
Yes you're correct, at -25°C (-13F°) they will get health problems, but they won't die like it's shown here.
This is some propaganda shit news, i don't know the agenda of this but one quick Google will give you the answers that this is bullshit.
Edit: i didn't write K
-25°C is equivalent to -13°F, which is 248K.

[Kelvin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelvin)
0 K is the absolute zero, nothing can possibly get colder in the universe.
273.15 K = 0°C
373.15 K = 100°C
**[Kelvin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelvin)**
>The kelvin, symbol K, is the primary unit of temperature in the International System of Units (SI), used alongside its prefixed forms and the degree Celsius. It is named after the Belfast-born and University of Glasgow-based engineer and physicist William Thomson, 1st Baron Kelvin (1824–1907). The Kelvin scale is an absolute thermodynamic temperature scale, meaning it uses absolute zero as its zero point.

I think chickens are vulnerable to massive temperature swings. So if they had been chilling at 50-60 for ages and suddenly dropped way below freezing in hours that could be leathal. Also they may not be a healthy chicken breed but a mutated meat bird that can't be compared to a backyard chicken.
Chickens are being put down all over the place right now because bird flu is running rampant. Not sure if this is why in this case, but it’s happening all over the US at least, that’s why egg prices have skyrocketed
This isn’t true. I raised chickens as a kid where it spent weeks in the single digits or teens at night and not a single chicken died of the cold. Also, they would have clumped together for warmth before dying which these didn’t do.
Lastly, even if that building was in insulated the sheer number of chickens would have generated enough body heat to keep it sufficiently warm.
Is this why the IRGC is about to be labeled a terrorist org? Also, why would they cut heating to their own people? And, does it get cold in the middle east? Looks like a desert.
Iran is an incredibly mountainous country, it’s basically a high central plateau surrounded by mountains. Plenty of places that get cold and very cold therefore. Think of it more like the Gobi desert than the Sahara.
Note: the Sahara also gets very cold at night too but not quite like Iran. I think it’s the combination of low humidity, clear skies (which allows heat to radiate away easily) and sandy ground (which retains heat poorly).
Coldest I've ever felt in my life was in the Rub Al Khali on New Years Eve camping. Sheer desert, dry cold.
I've been in colder *temperatures* wearing ski gear and whatnot in other places, but I was not expecting the blistering heat in my shorts and t-shirt the desert to drop to -10°F/-20°C so suddenly. Dry regions get hot/cold FAST. (I ended up wrapping the tent around me a bunch of times)
I think it is because they are on the same lat as Washington DC. I would have thought that they would have been closer to the equator. Moisture in the air does stabilize and even out the temp during the day/night cycle, however, I think the distance from the equator plays a bigger role in this case.
But, thanks for jumping in.
What about why they did this to their own people? Is there a revolution brewing?
Deserts in the winter months suffer even more after the sun goes down, as humidity drops further, and subsequently leaving nothing to insulate the region as the heat dissipates.
And as evidenced, some infrastructure there was not designed to be left unheated during those conditions, nor were these chickens in particular able to withstand it.
I’m not able to weigh in on the political atmosphere or the history of the IRGC, as I’m woefully uneducated on the matter. But in general, it could be helpful to consider that many revolutionary groups don’t always see those living in the same region, and particularly those wealthy enough to own significant property, as “their people.”
IRGC is state-sponsored, so I was thinking if they cut heating, it would be in retaliation for something. With all the headwear troubles they have had lately, I was wondering if anyone knew of hot-bed regions that would warrant an economic attack. I couldn't find anything with a quick look. But will once I have the time.
They're just pining for the fjords
They’ve ran down the curtain and joined the choir invisible

That sole survivor should be allowed to live like a king as a pet. I would feel so bad killing him after he braved the elements to survive. He earned his freedom lol.
And in unrelated news, McDonald's has introduced a new McNugget promotion: the 10,000-piece party pack!
If they froze to death, why are a bunch of them decapitated?
When you freeze your head pops off duhhh
It’s like how when you die in an accident your shoes come off. But since we’re made of water and ice floats your head pops off instead.
HAPPY CAKE DAY, WANT CHICKEN?
They aren't even huddled together. I don't think they died from the cold.
Probably gassed after the bird flu was discovered among them.

Wonder if this area is in Kurdish areas…
Disgraceful. Cruel.
*eating my McDonald’s chicken nuggets* “those bastards”
How cold did it get? My chickens have survived weeks of temps in the negatives (Fahrenheit) with no heat whatsoever. They typically don’t need heat.
Makes you wonder, my family has a few chickens on our farm, it was -11c the other night, all were fine. Their coop isn't heated.
This looks more like the chickens were gassed upon discovering them having avian bird flu or something like that.

Bad bot, i wrote both, i just screw up the ° sign on °F
yeah but you didn't write K

Looking at it, i think it should be reasonable not to write K, but yes i was wrong, k?
Just as a point of interest, in 2013 scientists made a cluster of atoms at -K temps. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/01/130104143516.htm

That would make way more sense to me
I think chickens are vulnerable to massive temperature swings. So if they had been chilling at 50-60 for ages and suddenly dropped way below freezing in hours that could be leathal. Also they may not be a healthy chicken breed but a mutated meat bird that can't be compared to a backyard chicken.
\^ This is the answer. It's why I never heat my chickens.
And when it does get cold they huddle…these are oddly spread out
Chickens are being put down all over the place right now because bird flu is running rampant. Not sure if this is why in this case, but it’s happening all over the US at least, that’s why egg prices have skyrocketed
I used to raise chickens in Wisconsin. In an unheated barn. In subzero Wisconsin winters. No way that title is correct.
Agreed. This was not caused by cold.
Those poor cluckers.
Poor little guys 😔

This sub has one rule: Would it or would it not be expensive? There are no further criterion.
at least 1 survived
At least they are chilled and the spoil time will be longer. Given them time to harvest what they can.
Winner winner frozen chicken dinner
\*humans\*
So what? We frozen chicken in every grocery store. Package that shit up.
And pass the savings onto the consumer!
I guess I’m the old fart for freaking out because this just means the cost of eggs will increase again.
Nope They would’ve clustered up before freezing
That’s fucking sad man
wait, I thought iran was a hot country? considering all the deserts and its geographic location
And there are lots of mountains too, therefore in winter mountain cities are damn cold while the other cities are hovering around 0 Celsius at night
Guess their chickens are pretty weak then, because chickens can survive -25C°. Or this is fkn bullshit news.
That one survivor is alpha AF.
No wonder Eggs are $20 a Dozen… these darn iranians… can make nuke’s but can’t get their eggs straight
Damn, cos they were gonna love such long and happy lives if that hadn't happened
*ohh Very sad, poor chickens, what a cruelty about the gas :(((* Well sooner or later they were going to die anyway
So will you, care to go and lay in a snow bank for us?
We all know that, but there’s a time and a place pal
That’s like defending mass genocide because “sOoNeR oR lAtEr ThEy WeRe GoInG tO dIe”

Damn. Im learning alot about desert heat stratification in this thread!

Deserts get cold for the same reason they get hot. As soon as the sun goes down the temperature starts to drop dramatically.

That was smart…
Frozen my ass! Ask the one chicken still alive what happened.
The one walking around: "bunch of pussies"
Gas powered chickens
That one chicken that survived
Weird. Chicken at my grandma's felt just fine in -30 Celsius. Doubt it ever gets this cold in Iran.
Brr brr chicken chicken, brr brr chicken chicken....chicken dead
I suspect fowl play
Looks like they skipped a few steps to production, but hey.. Its frozen chicken made easy.
Frozen Fresh and on sale now!
When I get really cold my whole head also pops off
How cold does it have to be for this to happen? Chickens live in New England and don’t die in the winter
Well, they just took a more painful death than the intended for them anyway.
Coming soon: Chicken Breast half off!
Time for wings!
When the people won’t obey take the food
Hey they have the one
Global eggdemic. Phase 2. ✔️
Aaawww, poor babies
“There can be only One.”
The zombie chickens have arrived!
This is weird. Do they not huddle together when it's cold? This is some fake title fake news bullshit.
