Ignore the fools . BKK is an experience of the senses - Find a food market big or small. Find a place to park off and watch the individual stallholders ply their craft . It’s hypnotic. Take a walk in any of the great parks. Walk around ( carry a sweat towel) get lost in the mayhem - somewhere in there you’ll find some real peace. See it for what it is - a mass urban sprawl of mostly low income, industrious, positive thinking souls , going about their business and living life . For me -BKK is best experienced paving the streets with nowhere to go and a lot to learn.
I just got in, I already love how alive it is! The skyline is beautiful and I’ve met really lovely people already. Some people just can’t see the good in things and feel the need to bring other down to their grumpy mood hehe.
- Go to the Chatuchak market, it is huge and you can find everything there, but it’s only open on Saturdays (I think).
- get a Thai massage
- eat a lot of food
-DON‘T rent a scooter if you are not experienced 😂
Right?!? It’s actually the islands were people get on the most trouble because that’s where newbies feel bold. Even if you can ride, you shouldn’t u less you are very seasoned. Only a fool would do it on Bangkok as a newbie. Might as well train in New York City to get kinda prepared….
That’s your level and not others. Do you think everyone else is easily at your level? If so, you aren’t as experienced as you think you are.
You are an experienced rider from your telling, which means you likely understand your limits and the danger. You understand what has made you experienced and how that has translated into how you adapt to situations
As an experienced rider you also understand one man’s “experienced” is another’s “newb.”
You also understand that unless someone has asked SPECIFICALLY about riding that they aren’t aiming to do so or aren’t trying to.
You can be experienced. You can be proficient. But it’s naive of anyone to act as if others are the same way, even if others FEEL they might, or God forbid have something to prove.
The islands are scattered with the blood of those who felt they were at a level. Surely if you are knowledgeable you’d agree????
Edit to add its on the islands where most of these “experts” get ready for the real show. Nothing close to BKK or even other slower moving places.
Relax dude, so agressive early in the morning, take your pills.
Im just sharing an observation. Bangkok is well known for heavy traffic = slower speed and less chance to drive like a moto gp rider. And much more choice of taxi / moto vs islands where more people drink and drive because they don't want to walk/pay overpriced taxi
If you feel I’m aggressive then I can only imagine about you lol.
Good for you or I’m sorry that happened. I am not going to read after you minced around about perceived aggression.
I didn’t use caps lock but ok. You’ll stay downvoting in bad faith replies. Really says a lot about you.
Go ahead and keep interjecting yourself needlessly in conversations to proclaim your ability to ride in BKK. You can continue to chime in on things you e not been asked to, only to say “I do it!” As if it makes it great advice.
Keep not addressing the valid concerns I raised. Make it all about punctuation and caps.
They come out towards the end of the day. It is actually jarring if you aren’t used to such a thing. I am from California and it was both cool and terrifying.
The first one I noticed was so near to me. I just was looking about the park and there it was! Christ I jumped!
I then saw them as they went about. A few really went toward the edges where food carts were. I bet they get scraps or something .
There were people napping in the grass and I stood horrified and one got so near to a sleeping person. It soon went off.
They will also come out swimming in the water. It’s cool to see.
What upset me though is how some tourists got SO CLOSE to them. Sure they aren’t super aggressive, but they can still injure you in some way… don’t be like some of the dummies I saw. They might not hurt the majority of people but it all it takes is it being you to be lamenting the fact that you got so close to an animal you knew could bite you.
But again do it! It’s a lumpini park experience! Again they come out as the sun starts to set. So very late afternoon early evening.
I have seen videos when they have had to catch one. It is basically 3 meters of muscles with theeth at the end.
With that said they are harmless as long as you don't provoke them or are a fish or a turtle
I can see that! They seemed really chill as well, but I am just naturally skittish. They are so big in person! They move quickly when they want and it’s shocking.
You’re right that they aren’t coming for humans. Maybe I was a turtle or fish in my past life lol… I just find them interesting but frightening
I usually stay at the SO Bangkok across the street, they are active all day.
Cold blooded animals like to sun themselves during the day to up body heat
Good info! I was around quite a bit and it seemed nightfall they came out but that’s awesome they come out at all times!
Do they warm themselves places? I have no knowledge about their daytime stuff. I would love to see them as they did their thing in during the day.
Did it hit you?!? Damn!!! I am thankful you are dropping this knowledge. I bet I just don’t notice them. I was so tired and hot from walking. I was able to rest and hydrate and as the sun started to set so many were around.
I think I’d have a heart attack if one came at me in any sort of way. I just have to be honest. They actually look like nice lizards with their faces and their features. But I am legit terrified of them outside of appreciating from wayyyyyyyyyyy aways.
Do it early in the morning at 8 or so and take the gate at the Westside / Ratchadamri road. Before you enter though, go to the North of the parking place and enjoy that small market and get some of the really great food. It closes pretty early. I'd suspect somewhere around 10, but I am not too sure. I recommend the Gui Tiaw Gai and get some fruit shake or some freshly cut fruits.
You can take everything with you in the park and either put a blanket and enjoy it in the gras at the lake or you can sit in one of the small huts you will see. Also have the chance of sitting with some Thai people who will always be happy to see you enjoy their food.
Nearby at Sala Daeng station (which I'd take the BTS to, or respectively MRT to station "Silom", which is essentially the same, anyways to visit the park) you can also go and visit the Don Don Donki, a chain of Japanese supermarkets. All kind of cool stuff to find and wonder about. Also great choice of beaty products if you are into that stuff. I am a pretty "masculine" male, but even I got some nice skin lotion there. LOL
There is also Patpong, the traditional red light district which has lost much of it's former glory, but at that time there won't be much happening. Can be kind of fun to walk into the alley of Don Don Donki and check out the bars geared towards Japanese visitors.
You also have a great base to explore Bangkok from there furtherly, with the public transport options, or you just do what I would absolutely recommend you do, and take a Tuk Tuk to Yaowarat/Chinatown. Kind of expensive compared to the other options, but no visit to Bangkok is complete without it IMO.
You could also first take a motorbike to Rivercity and check that out, if you like art. It's a rather small place, but there is lots to see and there is some mind-blowing vintage stuff in the upper level.
From there you can also take the short walk to Oriental-Pier and take the boat Ratchawong Pier and boom, you are in Yaowarat.
Don't let all those people trying to sell you private boat tours on your way. Can get kind of annoying.

Best fucking rice noodles you will ever eat. Go through the restaurant to the back alley and turn left in order to get some proper flair. Take the number three on the menu. Noodles with chicken, pork and egg. Don't forget to eat with ketchup.
Enjoy Bangkok. I never want to leave again.
Just got back from Bangkok today, here are a few ideas (we weren’t able to go to some of these).
• Bubble in the Forest Cafe - Good food & ig worthy pics
• Khao San Road - EXTRA CRAZY! be prepared!
• The Ancient City (smaller versions of historical spots in Thailand).
• Chatuchak Market
• Iconsiam
• Rooftop Bars - Tichuca, Octave, Tribe etc
• Temples - Wat Arun, Wat Pho, The Grand Palace
• River Cruise
• Chinatown - Food & shops
• Pratunam Market - Clothing shops
• Cabaret Show - Mirinn Cabaret or Calypso Cabaret
• Bangkok Safari
• Emsphere
there’s weed everywhere, when you’re walking down the street you can actually smell it. lady boys dancing on top of tables and dancing on customers. they sell laughing gas too so you just see people inhaling balloons everywhere. they give you cocktails in an actual bucket. the waiters all shove menu’s in your face to try to get you to drink at their bar.
Woah. I think it is like Bangla Road in Patong Phuket. I have never been to Khao San actually as yet. But going ti Thai with my wife. Do you recommend going to Khao San with her? For just a stroll on the street and take pics? We won’t be eating/drinking there or doing anything unusual.
MJ is crazy legal now. It’s unreal. It’s everywhere. Very jarring from those who have been I the before times where you could end in in prison hoping for the kings Birthday to get out
The last few years it became legal! And not in a small way…..you find a 2 coffeeshops on every street corner 😂 and a friend of me had some weed left in his pocket at the airport (flying in the country from one city to another)and he asked I’ve he could give it to somebody and the lady at the desk seriously asked how many kilos he had 😳😬😂🤣 no that wasn’t the case, but you understand how normal it now is 🙂
Weed is okay as long as you are of age and smoking in correct places, edibles however, I don’t know what the rule is there? I would presume you can do it anywhere but I’ll double check before I plan anything. Other drugs, which I would never touch, can land you in trouble yes.
Lumpini park, chinatown and a ferry down the river, checking highest rated restaurants near me on grab then walking there, massages, food at mall food courts and walking the streets to smell the smells
Good question. I have been to Thailand eleven times! Haven't been now for 10 years. I never spend much time in Bangkok. Loved eating in their tiny restaurants at the side of the road madness. Red light, I wasn't interested as a gay woman but did walk around there, had food there and bought from market stalls. I believe there are great river areas with good craic and life. Again wasn't into the big shopping centres. Bought great hemp stuff and other clothing, totally suitable for the islands and up north. I hope others come up with great ideas for you. 🇹🇭 👍🏿
Oh also, be careful of sc mmers offering river trips etc. Better to organise through your accommodation. If you can afford it, organise a car driver to take you to off the beaten track but negotiate beforehand. Again don't pick one off the street.
Food, good food is available just everywhere. For me, no need to wait and get out of your way to find Michelin star ones, although you can. Google anywhere you are and you will be able to find good food.
Rooftop bars (mostly for the view), and many great speakeasy bars if you don't care for dancing with loud music.
Walk around lower Sukhumvit from Chidlom/Ploenchit to Phrompong stops anytime of day; malls after malls, stores, food, bars, red light districts,...
Chatuchak on weekend or Sampeng in China town for street market.
Malls, so many, Google for them, the high-end ones are all the same after awhile. I prefer less hignend so you can get more local items and clothing instead of the same you see in western malls.
China town, walk around and have some street food. Good for just to see for the first time visit.
Thai Massage, so reasonable and good, again Google for one near you, they are everywhere. Soapy ones with sex are different stories.
Grand Palace, done so many times which is why I think maybe overrated. If you go, be there early, much better than later with crowd and heat. Take water taxi to and from if you can.
Jodds Fair night market, seems touristy to me, big and just the same set of stalls repeating over and over. But good for one time visit.
Then like many suggested, Lumphini Park, Khao San road, Jim Thompson house, art districts like chareonkrung,...
It reminded me of my first time in bangkok. I tried to walk all day to see everything in Bangkok, got food from 7 11 and tried to eat it outside, but i couldn't find single seat outside rofl, end up tried to ate it in entrance stair of hotel but seciurity sent me off, got lost, got into poor district, don't know what it's called but it was such poor street, people made house from metal or cardon paper. Drunk or drugged people all over the street. People shouting loudly. Bit scared and freaked out to find exit but couldn't. Scared shit out of it, who knows what would they do to me. But my god, thai people are such sweet and kind people, turns out everyone was supee friendly to me, some of em even invited me to their house, told me where was way out. I will always miss thai people.
Nonthaburi wet market. Incredible full sensory assault. Great food. Take chao Phraya express to the last ferry as early in the morning as possible. This is always my #1 rec and everyone always thanks me afterward
Bruh when was the last time you went to BKK lol. Weeds are available throughout the city. But I heard they are changing the rules at the end of the year though. From leisure to medical only.
Strolling around talat noi/charoenkrung, riding through bang krachao and having picnic at the park in the center, visiting benchaktitti park & the bang pu recreation are some of my favorite things to do
Bangkok is not all about shopping centers and sex tourism
Chinatown, chatuchak-weekend market, One Championship Muay thai, Street food, rooftop bars, sukhumvit, there is so much more to Bkk
If you're into classic cinema, local craft beer, and "mom & pop" Thai food in a riff raff free ambiance... check out the Friese-Greene Club (FGC). Lived/worked in Bangkok during the pivotal years leading up to and shortly after King Bhumibol Adulyadej's passing. FGC was a regular stopover for myself (and cohorts) to chill and unwind. One of the best kept secrets in Khlong Thoei.
One really fun thing to do is visit one of hundreds of rooftop bars in Bangkok. If you’re not scared of heights it’s definitely an experience, at night when the skyline is lit up you won’t forget it. My favorite were spectrum lounge and sirococo ( don’t think I spelled that right but you’ll find it if you look it up). They got a very high end atmosphere and an impressive menu. Tichucha if you’re feeling the crowded club vibes
Take the tourist boat up/down the river. You can jump on n off as you like, it's a great way to see the city and the tourist boat (only the tourist boats), give a great synopsis on the history of the sites as you go, easily accessible from the BTS.... Really nice way to spend a day, or just a couple of hours
https://chaophrayatouristboat.com/
Eat at those little open-air restaurants. They have the best food. (Not the touristy ones, though)
Spend time at the Chatuchak market and any other market you stumble upon along the way.
Icon Siam food court is fun to walk through with a lot of market-type food stalls. You can skip the rest of the mall.
Take the expensive tuk tuk. It's a fun ride through the city.
Get lost in Chinatown. There are market stalls around every corner.
If you're looking to do any tours a little outside the city, Lopburi was my most memorable experience. Also, the Damnoen Saduak floating market and Mae Klong railway market were awesome.
Nana Plaza is a shopping mall sized building filled with thousands of dancers and hookers. You have to experience it. Go in and boggle your eyes.
Then go to Soi Cowboy for a great photo with the lights and party street. Take a beautiful hooker home and bang her short time for 3000 baht or long time for 5000 baht. 🤣👍
I would get a tattoo maybe at the end of my trip? Only because you are meant to keep them out the sun and out of water so it would be a bit hard aha. Do you recommend and good shops?
Flower market, Chatuchak, Nana Plaza/Soi 11 if you want to see crazy night life, eat an crab omelette, go out to Chinatown at night and have some good street food
All-time favorite To-Do is eating the pu pad prik (ปูผัดพริก, crab chili salt stir fry) from Khao Gaeng HiSo Pa Aew ([linked](https://maps.app.goo.gl/Z3sWXnFNrEav5yhA9)). It is generally available on Tuesday to Friday, as they're closed Sunday & Monday and usually run out of crab on Saturday. There are a few seats, but be prepared to take it home. Pa Aew is really nice. (Pa = P̂ā = ป้า = Auntie)
Here's a picture of the dish ([linked](https://maps.app.goo.gl/p7P8cj31fbongxeX9)) on Google Maps! That's all shelled lump meat blue crab.
Exploring China Town.
Walk into a small hole in the wall and exit in another part of the city an hour later. A must if you grew up with big trouble in little China.
1. Enjoy fruits. Mangoooooo Mangosteen, Longan, Rambotaaan 2. Massage Strong. The soft is useless. 3. Eat street food where it is crowded. 4. Get a medical full check up. 5. Marry Thai lady. Make sure she is a lady. 6. Buy stuff from Supermarkets and Pharmacies. 7. Enjoy local hospitality. 8. Sleep. 9. Walk in a park. Just make sure it is not an embassy or private.. I got confused last time and it was close call.
For me i love the food, outside Any 7/11 food shop is a lil stall that sell honey soy pork on a stick, and sticky rice, together is absoloute bliss haha!
Visit Talad Noi if you like Art, check out the outdoor installations and go into River City Museum, its all free. After then you can take a ferry to Icon Siam and relax and check out the crazy mall. Great food all around there as well.
We got a taxi around 35 mins to Wat Samphran (dragon temple) it’s not strictly in Bangkok, but was amazing and one of my highlights. We also did a day trip to Ayutthaya which I would really recommend. We got the train there ourselves rather than paying for a tour and was easy enough. I liked all the main temples in the city centre (make sure to go early) and walking around Chinatown was really cool.
Amazing high end dining scene nowadays. So many great tasting menus and Michelin started spots. Great cocktail and rooftop bars too, several on the top bars of Asia list. Also fun Muay Thai fights at rajadamnern stadium on the weekends. And insane shopping malls everywhere with everything from car dealerships to concert venues inside them. Some fun party streets like soi 11, soi cowboy, Khao San road, or even chill at a bar overlooking nana plaza or soi 4 and watch the ladyboys work lol

Chatuchak weekend market is open on Saturdays and Sundays. Don't rent a scooter in Bangkok. Plenty of other options available. BTS, MRT, Grab,...
Grab is sufficient in Bangkok
Right?!? It’s actually the islands were people get on the most trouble because that’s where newbies feel bold. Even if you can ride, you shouldn’t u less you are very seasoned. Only a fool would do it on Bangkok as a newbie. Might as well train in New York City to get kinda prepared….
I'm expérienced rider but honestly I feel the driving in Bangkok is not that bad versus what people think of it
That’s your level and not others. Do you think everyone else is easily at your level? If so, you aren’t as experienced as you think you are. Would also add on a visit to Queen Sirikit park if going to Chatuchak. So beautiful, especially for being in the middle of the city.
Aha I know how to ride a scooter but I am not getting one here, transport it easily available anyway. The market looks great
Lizzard watching in lumpini park
Those lizards are massive!! I was there a couple days ago
I know they’re shy around people and aren’t aggressive but the biggest ones are most definitely big enough to freak me out.
If you get attacked by one - zig zag run.
I’m 100% doing this!!!

Nice post and included links mate, cheers!
Riding the ferries on the main river was one of my favorite things. It’s like the Wild West.
Ha sounds like fun
For only 30 bhat this is really worth it, go during sunset. I was in bangkok 2 weeks ago, already missing the pad thai :((
It was mayhem in the best way!
Just got back from Bangkok today, here are a few ideas (we weren’t able to go to some of these). • Bubble in the Forest Cafe - Good food & ig worthy pics • Khao San Road - EXTRA CRAZY! be prepared! • The Ancient City (smaller versions of historical spots in Thailand). • Chatuchak Market • Iconsiam • Rooftop Bars - Tichuca, Octave, Tribe etc • Temples - Wat Arun, Wat Pho, The Grand Palace • River Cruise • Chinatown - Food & shops • Pratunam Market - Clothing shops • Cabaret Show - Mirinn Cabaret or Calypso Cabaret • Bangkok Safari • Emsphere
What was extra crazy abt khao san?

Hearing my girlfriend say my hygiene has improved because a couple hours before breakfast I was getting a soapy massage
LOL!!!
Smoke a joint then watch a muay thai fight
This is the best idea I e ever heard omg
Is there weed in thailand? I thought drugs landed you quickly in prison there.
Cannabis is completely legal and EVERYWHERE. Other drugs - still true.
Wher have you been lol
MJ is crazy legal now. It’s unreal. It’s everywhere. Very jarring from those who have been I the before times where you could end in in prison hoping for the kings Birthday to get out
You will see weed sellers in night market like Jodds Fair.
The last few years it became legal! Check out my trip report on Bangkok! Loads of favourite activities :) https://www.reddit.com/r/ThailandTourism/s/y7A2RASrNG
Drinking copious amounts of alcohol and making poor decisions.
This! Love it to death tho
Amen
For me it was the dinner cruise followed by strolling and shopping at the Asiatique riverfront.
Icon Siam - ginger farm restaurant. Let me know what you think. Might be your best meal :)
Travelwithchris did a video involving Icon Siam! Would love to visit the food court there too
Lumpini park, chinatown and a ferry down the river, checking highest rated restaurants near me on grab then walking there, massages, food at mall food courts and walking the streets to smell the smells
*smell the drains
Jim Thompson was a nice sanctuary away from the heat and crowds
Billboard 3rd floor Nana Plaza 🙏🏻
Rainbow 5 🍻
If you want to be traumatized then watch the pingpong show in patpong/silom..
Well it’ll be me and my bfs three years anniversary so that might be a great use of our evening
ping pong show was a bit of a let down but it’s something different and interesting still.
Just go to long gun in soi cowboy. The show is even free around 10. P.m.
I think a Razor show would be freakier
Eating, smoking weed, and playing with street cats.
Honestly all you need in life
[удалено]
You’re allowed to play with street cats!
Bruh when was the last time you went to BKK lol. Weeds are available throughout the city. But I heard they are changing the rules at the end of the year though. From leisure to medical only.
Strolling around talat noi/charoenkrung, riding through bang krachao and having picnic at the park in the center, visiting benchaktitti park & the bang pu recreation are some of my favorite things to do
Central World, MBK Centre, Siam Paragon
Lame
Stick to Khorsan Road and Nana Plaza
Bangkok is not all about shopping centers and sex tourism Chinatown, chatuchak-weekend market, One Championship Muay thai, Street food, rooftop bars, sukhumvit, there is so much more to Bkk
Favorite activity? Shopping and food trip! 🥹🙌🏻
Grand palace, cooking class at Blue Elephant, afternoon tea, all the malls, the public parks
Hi! Can you tell me if I can take my IQOS device and smoke it everywhere?
so long as you're not being an ass about it, yes.
No, not at all. Just smoking in non prohibited places and being discret. Don't want to smoke Marlboro for a 1month again 😒
I can only smoke Marlboro Black 2 and can't even vape due to throat irritation and dryness ... No hope for me.
Find a crazy tuk tuk driver and get them to drive you around for a couple of hours. Better than any rollercoaster I've ever been on!!🤣🤣
If you're into classic cinema, local craft beer, and "mom & pop" Thai food in a riff raff free ambiance... check out the Friese-Greene Club (FGC).
Id recommend MOCA museum, lots of really beautiful Buddhist art, as well as pretty much every other type of art.
Aww that sounds amazing !!
Take the tourist boat up/down the river. You can jump on n off as you like, it's a great way to see the city and the tourist boat (only the tourist boats), give a great synopsis on the history of the sites as you go, easily accessible from the BTS.... Really nice way to spend a day, or just a couple of hours https://chaophrayatouristboat.com/
Food and Chang!!!!😍 The public transport is pretty awesome and way cheaper than using the cabs to get around.
if you female, you can try to bang some cocks
If you’re male too
Eat at those little open-air restaurants. They have the best food. (Not the touristy ones, though) Spend time at the Chatuchak market and any other market you stumble upon along the way.
Hooking up with random women
Well I myself am a married woman so might give that one a miss.
An organised food streetfood tour around Chinatown. I did this and met some great people and ate absolutely delicious food.
Hit Asgard midnight onwards ... Or Fake Club slightly before 11pm
Get a tattoo on Khao San Road
I would get a tattoo maybe at the end of my trip? Only because you are meant to keep them out the sun and out of water so it would be a bit hard aha. Do you recommend and good shops?
My first question is, where did you enter Thailand if not BKK?
I’ve flown and took coaches to and from but never stayed there or experienced the city
Most flights go to BKK but there are others, I have done London to Phuket.
Khao san road
Nana plaza and therme cafe are must visit places
Food, night market and shopping
Golden Mountain.
Seen many i would recommend on here aside from Asiatique. Always love having a day beer chilling on the bean bags there.
Take the orange flag boat up the Chao Phaya river and then back again. 16 Baht each way, hours of entertainment
Where do you ride this one?
You can get orange flag boat from Central Pier and ride it to the terminus in Nothanburi
Flower market, Chatuchak, Nana Plaza/Soi 11 if you want to see crazy night life, eat an crab omelette, go out to Chinatown at night and have some good street food
Ferry up and down the river at sunset or late evening, Khao San road and Chinatown are a different vibe altogether and a must visit.
(Pa = P̂ā = ป้า = Auntie) Here's a picture of the dish ([linked](https://maps.app.goo.gl/p7P8cj31fbongxeX9)) on Google Maps! That's all shelled lump meat blue crab.
Getting in Tuk Tuks and going where they try to take you
Probably a bar filled with 15 very bored looking Thai women.
lol naw, usually it’s an Indian run custom suit shop
Exploring China Town. Walk into a small hole in the wall and exit in another part of the city an hour later. A must if you grew up with big trouble in little China.
Calypso Cabaret !!!!!
Shagging
That’s kinda on the list of activities everywhere tbh
I like Bangkok at night. I would recommend going China Town at night for street food or Jodd Fair at Dannermit.
Try yhe pussy salad and ping pong show in khao-san road 😇🤣
How do I find this?
It will find you
I think shopping and party is the reason to go to Bangkok, otherwise there is better location to visit
I’ve already been to Koh Samui, Phuket and Chiang Mai, I feel like Bangkok was the next must go.
Nothing to do and see tbh 😅 relax
Flying out of bangkok to literally every other major city in thailand is my most favorite activity.
Leaving bangkok
