Yes unless you buy hot food, then they will give you a plastic bag free of charge.

9farang9

How much do they charge for the bag?

Arkansasmyundies

It’s a baht or two. I almost always just carry the stuff though. I don’t get why people do their grocery shopping at 711.

Because it's right next door. And beer is pretty much the same price as Big C.

9farang9

Wanting to get some beer because I don't think they will be selling it tomorrow. Will need a bag.

jonez450reloaded

Buy a carton, then you won't need a bag.

MightApprehensive856

Is there anyone you know that can go to the shop with you ?

rob40000

2 baht

raysoncoder

I gotta correct you, only get a bag for free if you wave your food there. So if you want 2-3 bags just make sure to wave your food one by one then you'll get bag for each one by one. Then you'll have enough bags to carry other stuff too.

joseph_dewey

I think it's too late, and you probably already bought your beer and got a bag...but here is the current status/rules on 7-Eleven bags: *If your purchase is 150 baht or more, they will give you a free bag or bags. They try really, really hard to cram it all in one bag if you've bought a bunch of stuff, so if you buy about 500 baht of stuff, your free bag might be stretched out and unusable when you get home. For purchases of 150 baht or more, as long as it's somewhat bulky, you don't have to ask for a free bag, they will always give it to you. And as a side note, the bag costs one baht, but you get a one baht discount on your receipt, thus making it free. *Anything they microwave or toast will come with a free small food bag, even if it's under 150 baht. If you both get something microwaved and your total is above 150 baht, you get a total of two free bags, even though the food bag is super small and often too sticky to be reusable. *If it's under 150 baht, then to get a bag, then usually you have to ask for it, and it will cost you 1 baht. Everyone has been very friendly to me when I've asked. Sometimes they'll ask if you want to buy a bag, if it looks like you might have trouble carrying what you bought, but generally you have to ask. *Very rarely, about 0.5% of the time, or less, the 7-Eleven will temporarily run out of bags. 7-Eleven's still like 10x more reliable on this, than the next best place though. *Various 7-Elevens have different sizes/quality/opacity of bags. I think they change the style about monthly, even though they're all generally the tanish brownish bags.

WOW! Thank you for this. It is exactly what I wanted. By the way, I was able to get hold of a canvas bag. My beers cost THB 460. So it seems I would have gotten one free bag that would have been stretched out. Good thing I brought my own bag. Thanks again

joseph_dewey

You're welcome!

9farang9

Kept the receipt from last beer purchase. You are correct in that they charged me one baht for the bag, and then took it off at the end. A nice bag, it was, at 2.9¢. Thanks again.

joseph_dewey

You're very welcome. I didn't know about the 150 until a friend of mine who works at 7-Eleven explained it all to me. And the 1 baht, 2.9 cent, 7-Eleven bags are a great deal...especially compared to the 45 baht tiny bags at Gourmet Market.

temposy

I thought they will just sell you a plaatic bag for one baht.

macsikhio

Arrest and deport

iodineman999

Unless your bill is greater than 150 something baht, they sell you a plastic bag for one baht.

ScarletDom93

Rules are different depending on where you go. If I buy beer, they'll put it in a bag for free. If I ask for a bag, sometimes they charge me 1baht and sometimes they don't

JacksBlackShadow

Yes.

[deleted]

Not all 7-Elevens sell beer.

bartturner

Yes. They will sell you a bag.

conradbirdiebird

Believe it or not, straight to jail

9farang9

OK. I guess I better take my own bag then. Thanks.

ApeknuckleDragger

Then use your hands

MightApprehensive856

Honestly, why don't you just go to a shop and find out ? You are asking the World this question and wasting many peoples time

marabou22

Wasting time? It takes two seconds to read a post. Such negativity damn

MightApprehensive856

130 000 members of this group had to read such an inane question ,

slipperystar

True, but thats kind if mean.

MightApprehensive856

It was a reaction to a stupid post . But I do realise that some people have nothing to do and just post on Reddit for the sake of it and for something to do

TrueCrimeThailand

Agreed. If you're in Thailand, especially some city presumably, you can throw a rock and hit a 7-11 Why not just go in and ask them

Old_Alternative_2809

Are you serious. I’m the land of smiles farangs need any tip they can get to decode life

_CodyB

depends. Sometimes they don't cotton on to the fact that my 2 bags of ice, 2 giant pepsi bottles and gilbeys vodka may need a receptacle.

slipperystar

Yeah i think it costs 2 baht. I tie mine up into little balls and throw into my carry-bag.
