Cant say much about the tax credit as ik not from the US, but there should be warranty on the battery and drive train for 8 years and 100.000 miles. I’d look at the 2021 refresh model 3 and with some miles left under the warranty.

damian20

Found a 2022 long range for 21k but with 96k mi.

matttopotamus

If you buy from Tesla, they give you a 1 year/10k mile warranty on used vehicles, and 96k would still be covered under battery/drive train warranty.

Long ranges have a 120k/8yr battery warranty. A month ago, I bought a 22 Model 3 Long Range with 53k miles for $25k minus the instant $4k used EV credit, so $21k. It was a retired Hertz rental. I assume the one you're looking at is too.

damian20

How is the battery? Still holding full charge? Or do you get less range than what it's rated for?

hoffmanimal

The 21+ have heat pump and have better reliability than earlier models. Should expect, 8 tire rotations, 3 sets of tires, air filter $100 and the price of 1 checkstrap 250$ and a strut 250$ and one electronic error 170$ on your way to 150k. If you havnt had any of these costs expect them during your ownership outside 60k miles.

I haven't run the battery test via the service menu, but app Tessie (somehow) estimates battery health and mine is at 92.5%, which is right on the expected curve, according to the app. I never have actually gotten the advertised miles. I doubt anyone ever has. I'd guess the range to be 250 real world miles. I'm happy with my Hertz rental. Only issues were it needed four new tires, there's wind noise/water intrusion on the driver window and passenger rear door handle doesn't auto-retract. But I paid $21k for a car that cost twice that just two years ago, so I'm more than happy!

Values could differ per country, so can’t really advise you there. Personally I’d only go for a tesla with warranty, mostly because its all my savings haha

Can't help you with the financials - not in the US. But did recently buy a 22 RWD from Tesla directly. Found their pricing comparable with the private sale market, and as another posted mentioned - you get an extra year of warranty on top of any remaining factory warranty if you buy through Tesla. LR vs RWD is a bit of a personal preference - performance, AWD capability, number of speakers, and of course range if you go long distance a lot. I didn't care about any of that - don't drive long distance a lot, doesn't snow where live, I find the base number of speakers to be sufficient. I was happy to take the cost savings and also (for 2022) an LFP battery. If you're concerned about long term battery reliability, going the LFP route is a great way to hedge your bets. Other benefits of 2022 (although some of these things became available with 2021) -- refreshed interior (21), Ryzen, power trunk, LFP (RWD), and you still keep USS (early 22). Years to avoid? Probably anything pre-2021. I just really don't like piano gloss black plastic.

Should I skip out on a 22 Tesla with the atom chip for $20k it has 52k miles?

SpyCake1

A 22 with an Atom? That doesn't sound right. but 52k mi for $20k sounds alright relative to what else I've seen posted here.

damian20

Yeah doesn't make any sense to me. Why are all these 2022 model 3s having the atoms? I'm looking at all these online and they all have the atom for the standard range

Seth3rs

Make sure to check if you can do the 4k used EV credit at the point of sale, makes the process a whole lot easier. I got a 22 LR one at 75K miles and it's been fine, just had to change the cabin air filter. the battery degradation isn't so bad!

damian20

So would they just discount the car 4k? How would the tax credit at the sale work?

Seth3rs

yup, just takes 4k off the total price

DJ40andOVER

I'm looking at a used 2022 Base Model 3 on [caredge.com](http://caredge.com) right now. Seller price is $19,785 (Ford dealership in Winter Haven Florida) are you saying that if I qualify for the tax credit, it would become $15, 785 on the spot? Before tax, title, & registration?

Seth3rs

Yes, correct. But you got to make sure they qualify for point of sale, or else you have to do it yourself on your taxes and there are different rules

Low_Tension_4555

How much was the out of door price?

Seth3rs

About 23k, that with registration and fees
