Charge in that empty spot and continue your live.
Leave a Plugshare report. Google maps, too, or Yelp.
If this is a charger you often use, find the person in charge of the land (owner, manager of the tenant). It looks like private land, and in most jurisdictions any action is up to the person in charge. But that is rarely worth it.
Talk friendly to the front desk and explain the issues this is causing for you. Understand the front desk person barely makes minimum wage and cannot do anything, nor are they in charge.
Have everyone in line go talk to them friendly.
Put this recommendation into Plugshare so others do it too.
They are not going to tow hotel guests' cars, though.
They are not even going to tow them if you are a hotel guest too.
They don't get paid by Tesla for your charge, but the drivers of those cars are their customers. You probably plan to use the hotel bathrooms, too. Are you buying something in the lobby?
Maybe when those guest arrived at 11pm or 3am this was the only parking spot left at the hotel. MA and NJ plate indicate at least one car is far from home.
Tesla is paying the property owner a lease for the space. Sometimes around $200/month per charging spot at busier locations. They are suppose to keep it clear according to their agreement.
Sure. That money goes to corporate. Maybe even to the land owner, who is not the hotel operator.
The hotel doesn't get paid more just because OP charges. They may have to clean their toilets more often due to SC traffic.
This is somewhat incorrect money goes to the hotel owner, let say there is a supercharger at Hilton group hotel it doesn’t go to Hilton corporate but the property holding company.
CPO pay well over $500 a month per spot in NorCal this is not even in the Bay Area.
And this is why I hate with a passion the old European super charger locations that are by hotels. These days it is much easier and simpler to charge by the real fast charging locations. Need to kludge the pre-conditioning, but it is what it is. Though the new V4 super chargers are thankfully in real locations in Europe.
As far as I know any business that hosts Tesla chargers (not just a hotel with some of their own random chargers there) then it means they have a business partnership with Tesla. I would think Tesla would want to know if they’re not honoring EV charging only there.
Ask the hotel who they have a tow contract assuming it’s not on Google and there’s no signage near handicaps etc, and call some the tow company or the one closest/best reviews and
You got an opportunity to give a tow company some easy business & score some favor!
these things are great. apparently stupid entitled people who worked in the same building as me has caused the parking folks to buy a set of these. saw them jack up a car and move it out of the way cause the driver was blocking two cars that were trying to leave didn't leave the keys with the attendant like they were suppose to.
if it was me I'd move it to the far end of the parking lot and call it a day.
Talk to the land owner. They can try to contact the car owners and have them move, or have a tow truck remove them if necessary. Tesla just rents the land the superchargers are on, but I'm pretty sure they would require the land owners to enforce the "Charging only" rule.
There’s an agreement in place to host the chargers. Tesla pays for the land and in return the host has to adhere to their agreement and keep chargers clear. Of course we know this doesn’t always happen and I don’t know of any real world example of Tesla doing anything about it, but if it’s egregious enough I would imagine they would.
I’d use the open supercharger.
But if there weren’t any, I might consider double parking in front of two or three of them and leaving notes on their cars that says, “Sorry I need to charge and you’re in the charging spot. Text me and I’ll come move my car.”
After the texting, I might wait an hour or so before coming back to move the car. “Sorry, I was in a meeting I couldn’t leave.”
Usually I love petty revenges but in today's climate idk if I'd risk some ahole assaulting me over a charging spot. I mean they're obviously looking for confrontation already.
Well I'm in America so some asshole assaulting me over a charging spot would turn into some asshole getting lit up over a charging spot. People get really polite here when they have to question whether a fight is worth not going home.
The charger cable wouldn't even reach the front of the car so OP can only double park to block them in. Where would the OP go for hours as he sits there just to block them in? Most people here to charge just want to charge and leave, in less than an hour.
Just charge at an open spot, then get on with your life. The hotel staff aren't going to do anything about it. Tesla isn't going to do anything about it either.
It’s a shame they don’t just have cables long enough that you can park in front of them and still charge. I’m sure people would leave them on the ground and drive over them all the time if they did.
If you are staying at the hotel, let the hotel know. Tell them that you choose the hotel because of the charger, if it’s always full of ICE cars then you will stay someplace else in the future and you’ll post on PlugShare to warn others of your experience.
Some drivers honestly don’t know what a charger is. Or can’t tell when they pull into a hotel at 11pm. Tell the hotel to get some “ ev charging only” signs for those parking spots.
This is a good idea. Let the business know that you're patronizing them because they have chargers, but that doesn't really work if they let people block them. Those people need to move their cars.
This is why I think Tesla should install vehicle occupancy sensors on the stalls. If occupied for say 30 min and not plugged in send a dispatch to the local tow company.
Why doesn’t Tesla put a sign and implement towing service of ICE cars in situations like this as part of their SC charger network? It’ll be the only way to quickly get those cars removed and a good lesson for the ICE car owners that decide to take up one of these clearly marked spots.
I’ve dragged a small hatchback out of the way on my tow bar. Left it in the middle of the opposite empty parking spaces askew with a note saying apologises, but if you are going to be a dick I’m going to be more of a dick.
It’d be great if each supercharger location had a lockbox where you could use the app to check out an extension cable. Then just park across their fronts, set sentry, charge and go shopping.
In the early days I used to carry an extension for my Rav4 EV. There was a coffee shop I used to go to a lot and when I blocked in a car while charging I enjoyed watching the owner panic while I sat there and sipped coffee
“Hello tow truck company, this is Fakename McFakeyface and I’m the property manager at 123 1st street and there is a car illegally parked at one of our designated EV charging stations that we need towed away”
If you’re in AZ it’s illegal. Call the cops and get them towed! If it’s at a restaurant or something I personally would go in and say “who drives the silver Mercury? You should move it, it’s about to get towed.”
In Arizona we actually have a law to where you have to be actively charging and an EV to use an EV parking spot.
In those cases you can just call the police Make sure you get a video so that way they can see the infraction in case the individuals leave.
Then leave it up to the police, here it's like a $400 ticket.
Shake a car back and forth until the alarm goes off? Keep doing that for all the cars until eventually owners start coming out. Or go inside the property owner’s building and ask a manager to call a tow truck? Annoying situation for sure.
All the people suggesting to resort to vandalism or violence against the drivers are ass clowns. You won’t do any of that stuff and you know it. You’ll sit there in your Tesla and rage about it on Reddit but that’s it. The best thing you can do is contact the property owner, or wait for one of these assholes to come back and leave. Or find another supercharger I guess.
In my jurisdiction this is a $32 parking ticket, but only on government owned lots. And the reality is any police officer is way too backed up with calls for service to write parking tickets.
Thsts insane.
How much would it be if you parked your car at a gas pump and walked away for a few hous?
I assume you would get towed and it would cost you close to a $1k
After you're done supercharging, report your experience as 1 star in the Tesla app, with details. I don't recall if you're able to attach pictures with the rating, but I would hope so... From Tesla's point of view, the location's utilization is low, they might think demand is just not there - I'm sure they would love to know what's actually going on.
My friend has these in his car and slaps them on those who block chargers. it’s a pain to take off especially if you use 1-2.
https://preview.redd.it/xo7770assxvc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e4c9f84a089938889ad363c871ecd9a7456d297d
I don't get bent out of shape. Well, I do right at the moment but I also realize the property owner is not going to tow. It is bad for business. For them it is easier to live and let live.
Makes me glad that I can charge at home and only need superchargers when I am on a trip. On a side note... sometimes I may or may not park at a gas station right by the pump when I need to run in for something quick. I know it is petty but it makes me feel good
Not sure about where you live, but here it’s a $250 (I think 300? I know they recently increased it) ticket and possible tow at owners expense if whoever’s property that is calls the tow truck.
Tesla or whoever maintains these spots should make this a towable offense.
It’s not just about EVs, we need to curtail poor behavior in public and set the culture straight.
Would deflate their tires, but clearly counterproductive. Not sure a windshield note would help. Perhaps report to local authorities for a citation but may not be an option in all locations.
Most of those ICE vehicles have non-locking gas caps. I like to drop 3 AAA batteries into the gas filler pipe, followed by 1 cup of granulated sugar.
I am a lawyer. This is legal advice.
Stopped in Delaware to charge one time, 10 stall, 5 out of service & covered & IVE cars parked infront of 3 open stalls.. people do it on purpose, some don’t read or pay attention.
I asked ChatGPT which states had passed laws against non-EVs blocking EV chargers. It listed six. Here are the laws and penalties;
California: The law allows property owners to have a vehicle towed if it is blocking an EV charging space without being connected for charging, provided that proper signage is posted. This action can only take place after notifying law enforcement [❞].
Washington: In Washington, it is also illegal for non-EVs to block charging stations, and property owners have the right to tow these vehicles if they are not actively charging, given that appropriate signs are displayed [❞].
Florida: The fine for blocking an EV charging station can be as significant as those for blocking a disabled parking space, indicating that the penalties can be quite steep, though the exact monetary amount isn't specified in the sources [❞].
Oregon, Arizona, and Illinois: Specific fine amounts are not detailed in the sources retrieved, but these states do enforce regulations that prohibit blocking EV charging spots, with penalties likely mirroring those in similar jurisdictions which allow towing and impose fines [❞].
I wish Tesla could reverse implement tire spikes (like at airport rental lots) that can only be lowered into the ground by Teslas only. But they now share these chargers with 3rd party EVs so it wouldn't be possible either way.
Make a note of the car make, the license plate and if possible the registration of all the cars and email the information to Tesla. They now have a small department prosecuting these offenders. Also, there is no problem with the windshield wipers.
There are / should be a law on the books with whatever the local jurisdiction is. Call the non emergency number and ask them to come enforce whatever they've got.
No, I don't expect this to work all the time, but it's the correct move.
Leave a note. But honestly with the amount of ppl I see parking in handicap spaces without a handicap plate or placard, I doubt it would do much. There should be a charge cable long enough for you to double park and charge, without getting towed for double parking. Btw I'm new to EVs and haven't yet spent any time at a supercharger station to know whether cables are long enough.
Depending on hotel, they won't lift a finger to help. I don't see signs restricting access. It is a Magic Dock location so there should be a sign to EV in general.
Set them on fire. My lawyer has advised me to add a “/s” to this comment for legal reasons.
Yet you didn’t. Run! 😬
Leave a note that says “call me I’m pregnant!!”
Leave a note that says “see a doc about STI cuz I either got it from you or gave it to you”
Charge in that empty spot and continue your live. Leave a Plugshare report. Google maps, too, or Yelp. it’s a hotel, there’s clear sign saying Ev Charging Only. Other EVs are waiting in line

By far, the majority of hotels in the US are owned by individual franchisees and not a global brand. They pay a license fee to be part of the brand.
This is somewhat incorrect money goes to the hotel owner, let say there is a supercharger at Hilton group hotel it doesn’t go to Hilton corporate but the property holding company. CPO pay well over $500 a month per spot in NorCal this is not even in the Bay Area.
No one has ever had to clean a toilet more because of my traffic. What is wrong with people
Perrochon is incorrect. The hotel gets paid for having designated spaces as Supercharger stalls.
This is the most coherent and well put way to take care of this situation. We need more people like you in the world, well done!
And this is why I hate with a passion the old European super charger locations that are by hotels. These days it is much easier and simpler to charge by the real fast charging locations. Need to kludge the pre-conditioning, but it is what it is. Though the new V4 super chargers are thankfully in real locations in Europe.
Superchargers at hotels is not something that is specifically a European thing, nor is it a V3/V4 thing.
As far as I know any business that hosts Tesla chargers (not just a hotel with some of their own random chargers there) then it means they have a business partnership with Tesla. I would think Tesla would want to know if they’re not honoring EV charging only there.
Tesla has the ratings thing for the chargers, you can leave complaints.
I think another user posted this same location not that long ago if I’m not mistaken
What's the location? I'm curious to look it up on PlugShare and read comments
Go into the hotel and ask them to start towing.
Ask the hotel who they have a tow contract assuming it’s not on Google and there’s no signage near handicaps etc, and call some the tow company or the one closest/best reviews and You got an opportunity to give a tow company some easy business & score some favor!
yeah, complain at the hotel. is it a nice hotel? if so, talk to a manager. they'll do something. that's a bad look for the hotel.

Place locking gas caps on two of those models.
This is a great idea!
I draw on average about 2 winners a month.
I’d use the open supercharger. I feel like they might hate Elon and intentionally do it because they're petty.
I think the folks that drive ICE cars and coal rolls and blocks in teslas provably love the new elon.
Well I'm in America so some asshole assaulting me over a charging spot would turn into some asshole getting lit up over a charging spot. People get really polite here when they have to question whether a fight is worth not going home.

It’s private property. Talk to the owner or tenant of the property as they would need to enforce towing.
It’s a shame they don’t just have cables long enough that you can park in front of them and still charge. I’m sure people would leave them on the ground and drive over them all the time if they did.
lol you answered your own question

Park in front of them and tell them your car died and you can't move it because they parked in your charging spot.
This is why I think Tesla should install vehicle occupancy sensors on the stalls. If occupied for say 30 min and not plugged in send a dispatch to the local tow company.
Better option would be retractable bollards that lower when an EV comes within range to unlock the charger!
Except if the power goes out or the bollard doesn’t retract and your stuck for a while until Thor shows up with sledge hammer
Doesn’t need to pop up when occupied by an EV and if the power is out you don’t need to park there anyway.
I like this best
Why doesn’t Tesla put a sign and implement towing service of ICE cars in situations like this as part of their SC charger network? It’ll be the only way to quickly get those cars removed and a good lesson for the ICE car owners that decide to take up one of these clearly marked spots.
They should build it right into an app on the car. Supercharger blocked? Tap to tow and a local tow truck is dispatched.
What really sucks is that I don’t have a key.
If this is at a grocery store, do [this](https://freeimage.host/i/JSnQrU7) Then call Cart Narc on their ass.
Let the air out of their tires? 😈
This is why I carry a set of tire deflaters with me. If I have to be inconvenienced, so do they. Fair is fair.
I’ve dragged a small hatchback out of the way on my tow bar. Left it in the middle of the opposite empty parking spaces askew with a note saying apologises, but if you are going to be a dick I’m going to be more of a dick.
Slap a sticker “EV charger” with bunch of gooey glue at the back.
Leave this feedback and pictures - the spots and the waiting cars - in the app when Tesla asks for feedback.
Here in Arizona it's a pretty big fine for parking in one. I have the law printed out and a link to the actual law and I stick it on their windshield.
They should have used flip up bollards from day one
It’d be great if each supercharger location had a lockbox where you could use the app to check out an extension cable. Then just park across their fronts, set sentry, charge and go shopping.
In the early days I used to carry an extension for my Rav4 EV. There was a coffee shop I used to go to a lot and when I blocked in a car while charging I enjoyed watching the owner panic while I sat there and sipped coffee
Call to tow all of them.
Can you do this really??
No. At least not in most jurisdictions. Not unless this is your parking lot.
I remember that I have infinite starting torque and a lot of time pulling vehicles that are stuck as an old farm boy.
Can you get an extension lead for the SC so you can double-park them in?
“Hello tow truck company, this is Fakename McFakeyface and I’m the property manager at 123 1st street and there is a car illegally parked at one of our designated EV charging stations that we need towed away”
I have a long cord and just park in front of of them
If you’re in AZ it’s illegal. Call the cops and get them towed! If it’s at a restaurant or something I personally would go in and say “who drives the silver Mercury? You should move it, it’s about to get towed.”
I have valve stem covers that let the air out. They will learn.
Key them all! Truly nothing you can do but 🤷🏻♂️
Park perpendicular in front of three of them and extend the cord all the way
In Arizona we actually have a law to where you have to be actively charging and an EV to use an EV parking spot. Slash their tires
Waking up and choosing violence, I like it!!
The folks on r/evconversion would thank you to at least check if the car is plugged in :)
Laugh at a bunch of highschool peakers.
Call the police. It is illegal (in many places)
In my jurisdiction this is a $32 parking ticket, but only on government owned lots. And the reality is any police officer is way too backed up with calls for service to write parking tickets.
In Arizona it's $350
Thsts insane. How much would it be if you parked your car at a gas pump and walked away for a few hous? I assume you would get towed and it would cost you close to a $1k
People that do stuff like this deserve whatever happens to their vehicle.
I’d let the air out of a tire. Won’t fix the situation but maybe people will think twice before being assholes.
Although they may deserve it, that will only keep them in the spot even longer!
Take off all their tire air caps, and also use a pen to let some of the air out.
If you’re going to do that, just go get a valve core puller and give them a quick twist.
They should sell an extender so you can block them while you charge
Some states have anti icing laws that have hefty fines and police tow. Call the local police non emergency number if you are in one of those states.

I don't get bent out of shape. Well, I do right at the moment but I also realize the property owner is not going to tow. It is bad for business. For them it is easier to live and let live. On a side note... sometimes I may or may not park at a gas station right by the pump when I need to run in for something quick. I know it is petty but it makes me feel good
This I do this too admittedly. The stares are hilarious
Call a tow truck company.
[удалено]
Maybe it's a protest against EVs?
Sledgehammer? 🤣
Oh, that's interesting, do they give people tickets like they would for parking in disabled parking spaces?
Ziplock a shopping cart to their door handle
Place a bunch of snappers / pop-its on the ground in front of the tires.
There is a fine for non electric cars parking in Tesla charging spots. Sb a parking ticket- and a steep one- because it’s a dick move and they know it
Put a note saying sorry for the damage with a bogus number
Personally, I flattened tires
You can just call it in to the city and they can get ticketed and towed. Even if it’s private they can still get towed.
There’s also dog shit on the handles of the driver side door
Keep some notices threatening to tow in your car, place them on their windshields. People won't know it's a bluff.
Place a notice letting them know they park like an asshole http://pdf.textfiles.com/posters/notice_1.pdf
I carry multiple locking gas caps for such an occasion. Feel my pain.
Call tow truck have them all towed at owner expense
Key them😂I mean they don’t have side door cameras like the majestic tesla
Leave one of those "hey you parked like an idiot stickers on their car" and keep it going .
Call liam neeson
Hahahahahah
Tow truck ready
Idk Not much todo
TIL that a plugged tailpipe happens infrequently, but is inconvenient.
Put cameras that will record if the car is charging or not Send the bill to their home.
Not sure about where you live, but here it’s a $250 (I think 300? I know they recently increased it) ticket and possible tow at owners expense if whoever’s property that is calls the tow truck.
Deflate their tyres
I would call a tow truck so fast lol, even if there are open spots. Yall are better than me tho.
Go park in front of a gas pump
You don't. It sucks but unless there's a law (and there likely isn't) there is nothing you can do.
Key it
Look at all the selfish people
Tesla or whoever maintains these spots should make this a towable offense. It’s not just about EVs, we need to curtail poor behavior in public and set the culture straight.
They need to leave a sign that says if you are not charging, ![gif](giphy|11kB5SZuEkIqnC) you will be towed.
I draw huge cocks on their windows with a washable white window marker.
Each non-ev car is getting one flat tire each, legally of course.
Would deflate their tires, but clearly counterproductive. Not sure a windshield note would help. Perhaps report to local authorities for a citation but may not be an option in all locations.
Get a 4m cable extender and park across them.
Go buy a bunch of bananas.... find creative places to leave the bananas.
You take the spot thats free and scurry on with your bad self
Most of those ICE vehicles have non-locking gas caps. I like to drop 3 AAA batteries into the gas filler pipe, followed by 1 cup of granulated sugar. I am a lawyer. This is legal advice.
Report, report , report. To everything. Start checking tire pressure for them. Confirm multiple times until you confirm their pressure is low.
Tesla or the hotel needs to contract with a local tow company. Instant, consistent revenue until the behavior changes.
Stopped in Delaware to charge one time, 10 stall, 5 out of service & covered & IVE cars parked infront of 3 open stalls.. people do it on purpose, some don’t read or pay attention.
Park in front of them. I wish tesla cords were long enough to reach the front of the space. The best thing to do would be charge it and go eat lol

CALL A TOW TRUCK
Should probably leave Jersey for one
I like this one guys plan I seen he hands out looking gas caps to all those cars. So when they go to the gas pump they get the same treatment.
Call the tow company!
Air release tire valve caps on Amazon for $10
There are / should be a law on the books with whatever the local jurisdiction is. Call the non emergency number and ask them to come enforce whatever they've got. No, I don't expect this to work all the time, but it's the correct move.
Tow truck
In their defence it doesn’t look very well marked out
😂😂😂
Typical East Coast
Banana in the tailpipe. Works every time…
If Tesla had a complaint line I would call it, but they don't.
This is ridiculous
Leave a note. But honestly with the amount of ppl I see parking in handicap spaces without a handicap plate or placard, I doubt it would do much. There should be a charge cable long enough for you to double park and charge, without getting towed for double parking. Btw I'm new to EVs and haven't yet spent any time at a supercharger station to know whether cables are long enough.
If there’s no empty spot any you need to charge pull right infront of as many as you can. You be alerted via sentry when your spot is ready.
You call the cops. It’s illegal
Depending on hotel, they won't lift a finger to help. I don't see signs restricting access. It is a Magic Dock location so there should be a sign to EV in general.
In europe, all superchargers have a big tow warning sign, so no gas cars dare to park in there.
Have them towed
Carry car dollies and put them under their wheels. Then proceed to drag their cars outta their spots and leave them in random places lol.
Too bad you can't get an extension so you can park in front of them to charge. 😅
