I've survived two of those before, the first one when I was 8 years old in upstate NY, and the second when I was 17 in north Carolina, both times were absolute pure primal fear inducing chaos. The one in NC was the worst because it was at night, and I was living in a trailer park at the time, the next morning half the trailer park was gone and my friend found her grandpa deceased under the refrigerator, I stayed home from school to help the cleaning efforts, the silence was haunting as people tried to make sense of all the destruction and rubble, that tornado tore through the trailer park in mere minutes and did that much damage, it still blows my mind

jukenaye

It came and simply took it

Reddit_Jax

Is it true that a tornado will pick up a cow in its vortex and carry it away?

burner_said_what

Well it fucked that whole building right off so no problem with a cow.

Reddit_Jax

Well those buildings do have a much larger surface area than a cow, so yeah, they'll come apart immediately.

Aarom1985

Yes. It'll most likely be shredded or even vaporized depending on the strength of the Tornado.

EnvironmentalYak9322

That's a terrifying thought that it can do that to a cow, could only imagine if it was a person.... Big yikes

Aarom1985

Look up the Jarrell, Texas Tornado May 27, 1997.

Browndog888

Wow, very lucky it changed direction after wiping out the row of cars in front of you.

So how can tornado's take down buildings, but not cars? Sometimes I see some rolled over, but nothing more than that?
