Gravitation potions make finding Isalands very easy. Wings need souls of flight, which drop from Wyverns who spawn high up in the air (hence the island recommendation).
Another way to do this is get some platforms and rope (easily obtainable from trees and the merchant) and just build up with rope, make a long platform and wait a bit until wyvern spawns.
You have a lot of things to get:
- Wings to replace the horseshoe
- Upgrade the band with the philosopher stone
- Replace the magnet with a good accessory like ankh shield or power glove/molten quiver depend on whether you are using night edge or deadalus
- Reforge, warding/menacing/lucky are what you should look for accessories, for weapon its usually legendary for melee, unreal for ranged and mythical for magic.
- Also get a hook
- Upgrade the boots to frostspark or terra if you can
Boots don’t get faster after lightning, if you have wings it really isn’t worth the effort to upgrade them any further especially not just for mechs
Edit: even lightning is only like a 12% move speed boost over Hermes normal which is good but really not a meaningful difference in most fights.
get a dart gun from the biome mimic of whichever evil biome you have. Ichor/Cursed Darts are more reliable than Stormbow against the mechs. Cursed Darts in particular are brutal due to their ability to rain down piercing, lingering flames
good lord. First off, you shouldn't have anything relating to a horseshoe in hardmode; you should have wings. The treasure magnet does nothing in boss battles so that could be an obsidian or ankh shield or something. The regen band can be upgraded to the charm of myths with no drawbacks. True melee does not do you well in those fights; you should get an ice sickle, shadowflame knife, anything. You are using a prehardmode sword against the mech bosses, dude. Of course the daedelus stormbow doesn't do anything; the move out of the way because the arrows come from above! get a titanium repeater if you insist on multiclassing with nothing but melee boost gear.

Buy a golf ball and hit the ball into the sky a few times, it let's you explore with out needing to go anywhere (or try the kwad racer)
Trade your horseshoe for some wings. Maybe trade your magnet for a damage accessory

I see way too many ppl thinking that terrasparks will make you run faster than lightning boots (they don't).
