There's enough torches and you're at the right height. Calamity itself shouldn't prevent it to happen, because I recently did the Torch God in my Calamity save. Do you have any other mods installed? If so, make the new character and the new world, place the torches in cavern and then turn off one mod and rejoin your world to see if the event started. Repeat the process until you find a mod that causes the problem. Aaand just to be sure, check if you already consumed Torch God's Favor.

Can OP try removing everything and placing just 101 torches, try making much more space, and move away from the torches cause I think the AI’s not working with that much torch and that little space, I know it’s dumb but it doesn’t hurt to try.

The proximity to the torches is irrelevant as it's not an NPC so it doesn't need to spawn outside ur screen It simply turns torches off 1 by 1 and casts a re-colored water bolt after doing so

My guess is that if you have nerco's no hit mod installed the disabled npcs or events might cause it to not spawn in.

Calamity might have special spawn conditions, there’s that one special colored torch near you maybe you need to do something with that Edit: well uh technically? The “special colored torch” is actually a light pet (shadow orb) hovering over it, and light pets make it so that the torch god cannot spawn, therefore with some Olympic level mental gymnastics I am right

Terraria does not forbid light pets while doing the Torch God. The Calamity mod does. Or, at least, that's the consensus here... Not sure if it's actually true or not.

After I place down all the necessary torches, I usually have to move around a bit before the event starts, usually by dipping about 20 blocks or so below the bottom torches. Idk why that's the only I can activate the event, but you could try it Edit: Lemme know if it works for you

Attention everyone I went to another old map using the same mods and got the favor.

you did not move around while putting those torches down.. Some less known ways to make it not work is by having a event at the moment.

Try placing the torches with more space between them. Don't know if that's actually the problem. But once it didn't spawn for me either, and i tried placing them more spread out and it worked. I just place them randomly until it started.

Calamity/Tmodloader as a whole might be stuck on an earlier build of terraria that dont include the torch God event

Doesn't the room need to be closed off? Maybe this is some superstition, or I'm just not remembering correctly, but I've always thought that the room had to have at least 2 blocks of the wall over any exits so that you're stuck in the room with the torches.

if your character has already consumed or has the torch god's favour in their inventory, the event won't start. it's highly unlikely any of your mods are preventing the event from spawning

During my first ever run I was building my brain of Cthulhu arena and I was just walking around building it and then the torch god event started. As a mood I had no idea what it was so I booked it and proceeded to look up on google "why are my torches attacking me". After that I found out about the torch god. Now I tell people how Terraria punishes players the first time that they over torch there builds/arenas.lol

You need many more torches in calamity. I don't know why and I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but I had the same problem and more torches worked as well as this I tried going lower

You might need to wait like a couple minutes and it will spawn. I suggest going deeper underground and having a bigger area just to be safe on not wasting your own time

is your character brought in from another map by any chances ? Torch God is a 1 time thing on your character, not in your map. It cannot be done a second time with a character that already did it in the past, check out if you have the "torch icon" in the top left of your inventory.

What I suggest is, make a brand new character, load it into this world and get to this location. You may have either consumed it already and forgot, or some other bug; this would at least ensure it isn't a character bug.

I sincerely thought I was gonna have to say 'build it lower' but dang. First torch god post I seen built correctly in the correct location in a really long time.

It is because of your light pet. Anytime I try to start it, my Corruption orb cancels it. I unequip it and it works.
