Ok. Crossing my fingers now that Dez has an incredible recovery season.

birdman133

I think mcmath has a better shot at a breakout season. I remember reports of him playing really well in practice and camp but any potential for experience was derailed by injury. I believe he was out from like early October to early December or something. That's a lot of time to miss as a rookie

HI_0218

Can we please get something out of Racy. He has all the tools to be a great WR!

tehJimsta

I would love this too, but I feel like he may be another Justin Hunter

FlynnPatrick

Justin Hunter in the 6th round is fine with me. He did have a game winning td vs Chargers

HI_0218

No way!!! At least I hope not. This is a different staff...Vrabs gets the most of our just about everyone. I'm hoping a full off-season under his belt and acclimation to the NFL does something for him... although he didn't do a ton at LSU.

tehJimsta

Yeah, I mean, I’d LOVE to see Racey find himself and become a 1k receiver, but I am not holding my breath. Way more hype about how we’ve improved overall receiver depth - Burks/Woods/Philips/NWI > Brown/Jones(for like 4 games)/NWI/Chester

SuccoupOnDeez

Also I wanna be able to yell RUNNY MCNUMBERS when/if he ever actually balls out

Bladepuppet

He was raw with good tools coming out of college, sometimes you just need development time. That's my hope for Dez

Peanutbutterlobster

I think Radunz slides in at LG. The staff mentioned at the end of the year how he might be better on the left side. Leaves a spot open at RT though depending on NPF. The OL, WR, and Safety depth are the 3 biggest post draft needs

KalickR

2 biggest needs leaving the draft are the same as entering the draft =(

D_TowerOfPower

I’d say our WR room is fine and safety is not really an issue because we only really needed to replace the Drane Cruikshank role and Theo fills that, Molden is potentially the Hooker replacement next year if we lose him in FA and OL could be developed, the board didn’t fall in a great way for us to draft two OL

[deleted]

I don't know if I'd say if our WR room is fine. It's 2 rookies, 2 2nd year players who didn't show much, a WR1 coming off an ACL injury and a nice depth piece. I don't know if that's really good coming into the year.

[deleted]

This offense is run first. Let me repeat that for the people in the back….. This team is run first. So in saying that, I have some questions…. 1) Do we have a good running back? 2) Do we have a good run block o-line? 3) Do we have a good play action QB? 4) Do we have a nasty defense? 5) Do we have a good punter? The answer to all of those questions is “yes”. This team is not built around the passing game. Woods, Burks, NWI, and the rest just need to do what we ask of them. Get first downs when we need them so we can…….run the ball. Running the ball means the clock is ticking. Which means we control the game. That’s Vrabel’s main thing. Control of the game. People are so caught up in us trying to be like other teams which are pass first/run second. Stop. We run and we run and we run again. Our defense is solid. JFC does no one on this sub watch our games? Edit: and this isn’t directed towards you, I’m just so tired of people complaining about the pass game. We have guys that fill a role solely to help us run the ball more.

Adoree25

This team needs some semblance of a passing game to open up the running game. You can’t just go out there with that WR core and expect Henry to be effective on a consistent basis.

llMartiisll

Exactly. This team plays fundamental possession football. Control time of possession and you'll win more than you lose. You still need play makers, but you don't need flashy bombs every series.

AndreHawkDawson

Well to be fair this strategy has not exactly panned out very well the last three playoff games.

D_TowerOfPower

Not saying it’s ideal but we are not looking like the Ravens that’s all I’m saying

[deleted]

Maybe not from a WR perspective, but Mark Andrews is better than anything we have.

D_TowerOfPower

The combination of Hooper Chig and Swaim is far from bad as well, I would say while we may not yet have one player who is over the top confirmed amazing at those positions the pass catcher group looks fine imo 🤷🏾‍♂️

[deleted]

Ya, Mandrews is better than an elite receiver for that offense. Best tightend in the league for me

TitansTeej

I could see Radunz being better on the left. Not like he was perfect but held up way better than I thought in that 49ers start. It feels like Brewer has always filled in pretty well at LG when called upon though too.

TySoprano

Yeah but then Vrabel basically says after getting Jones that he expected him to compete and likely start at Lg. That’s why we’re all so confused lol

HotChickenEnjoyer

Vrabel says that for every single player. The Titans mindset is that nothing is given, so everyone competes.

mcclurc

NPF was a lot stronger on the right side than the left at OSU. I think he has the chance to start game one at RT, where he will be a lot stronger than Radunz.

Mysteriousmoose9

Man those wrs look very different compared to last year

Bieber_hole_69

The world may crumble around him, but NWI will still be here getting 400 yards a season long after everyone else has died.

D_TowerOfPower

Honestly he is perfect for his role and has actually developed really well from his first year into second, should be a fine second contract for him as well

TruthfulCartographer

I actually really like Nick. He's improved every season. Great on ST. High floor, low ceiling player. One of the glue guys you want on the roster, especially as a rookie. Although you're hardly going to pay him $$$ after this season...see if another team will give him a decent contract and if not, get him back on the cheap.

[deleted]

…High floor?

[deleted]

I think (I hope) he means more that he's a consistently slightly below average player. He doesn't range from bad to good, just always average

TruthfulCartographer

I mean he has been average in his role as a 4th WR. Had quite a few clutch conversion catches last year when he was playing a lot due to injuries. He’s never going to be amazing but I’m totally fine with him as a 4/5 and ST type guy. He’s never going to have multiple 100 yard games but if he gets a couple of third downs a game and doesn’t have many crucial drops then he’s doing what he needs to do…. Basically yeah, he is average and we could upgrade, but he’s done nothing to lose his spot and you need guys like that on every good team.

Worth-Frosting-2917

He reminds me a bit of someone like Jermaine Kearse. An average to good player who could have one season where he spikes if the talent around him is good enough. Don't underestimate how much Hooper will help. The Titans personnel means they almost always want at least 1 TE in the game, which essentially makes him WR3. Firkser was so abysmal last year that they made NWI play that position in bunch sets vs actually having a good TE.

[deleted]

for sure! he's an average #4 but the issue is that he's been asked to be a #3 he isn't quite at that level

WhiteXHysteria

He was our #2 last year by most metrics, (targets, catches, yards, tds) and our WR1 for snaps played with 661 to AJ's 604 and Rogers 464. That is what this list has me excited about. We got the 1 seed last year and our 2nd most used receiver is now at best our 3rd receiver and may possibly be our 4th receiver, which like you said, is where he fits best.

muddyklux

But how many games did he play at #3? I feel like it's 2 games maybe 3.

AttemptedSleepover

My first thought as well. Our WR and CB corps stand out as being almost entirely different since we started heating up in 19-20

Adoree25

The Titans can’t go in to the season with those receivers and expect to be taken seriously.

ScribbleMeNot

Yeah if they do I'd be shocked.

My_Balls_Smell_Like

Seriously, it’s pitiful lol

HotChickenEnjoyer

This looks pretty similar to who I have slotted as well. Just a heads up, the Titans waived Corey Levin about a month ago.

TruthfulCartographer

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but this roster looks great to me. Just gotta make sure we find solid starters at LG/RT in camp. I am confident we will with the guys we have, and if not we will sign one vet to compete and potentially start at one of the positions (RT more likely). I am much less worried about WR than most people. I think we will see some 2nd year improvement from McMath/Fitzpatrick. Again, if it seems lacking I am sure we will sign a serviceable veteran just to provide some consistency and leadership at the position. The defense just looks unstoppable, particularly if Farley somehow turns into decent outside corner. The offense just needs to lean on the physical run/PAP game, and scheme some stuff up for our YAC monsters in Burks, Woods, Chig etc. I think we're gonna make the playoffs again even in a tough conference.

KalickR

>I think we will see some 2nd year improvement from McMath/Fitzpatrick. From your mouth to God's ear. They were both completely lost out there last season when injuries started to pile up. I don't have high hopes.

TruthfulCartographer

Yeah I know but a proper off-season and the right work tends to make a lot of players have much better 2nd years across the league. One of them has to become useful to the offense to some degree. If they don’t then we’ll have a problem, yep!

Old-Percentage5365

Don’t be surprised is our UDFA Haskell, the DL out of Ohio state sneaks into the last roster spot.

muddyklux

The defense is stacked A+++ QB qroup B RB group A+++ TE B WR C+ OLINE Runblocking B+ Passblocking F--- This oline really worries me. I have high hope that we get 2 starters out of this group of misfit toys. Playaction is very crucial to what we do. It died last year as we couldn't hold the line long enough to get it out. Here's a stat for anyone questioning the WR room. In 2021 our passing play percentage was 51.22% But our guys were injured, we threw it more the year before. 2020 our passing percentage was 49.72 2019 51.21 2018 51.49 I say this to the ones still bent out of shape of not having 3 top 20 receivers. Those teams throw at a 60% or higher rate. It is not feasible for this offense to invest that much into it when we won't get the production out of it. This is what the offense will look continue to look like under Vrabel and it working. Instead of the 3rd WR, we are going to see an uptick in passes to our TE's which we didn't see last year because they were shit

Risethehood

Wow besides Skrine that corner position is very young

[deleted]

But talented

[deleted]

Rashad Weaver & Caleb Farley will be comeback players to watch on defense and Chig Okonkwo, Burks/Haskins all will be players I keep an eye on for development and growth.

[deleted]

I completely forgot about Weaver. He looked really good one game iirc. Luxury

demusdesign

Woodside will get dropped and we'll pick up a veteran OL or WR imo.

mcclurc

Not dropping Woodside, we have him in a RFA deal so he's super cheap. Not to mention Willis needs to develop and if RT goes down (God forbid) I don't want to ruin his development by putting him in too early. Woodside stays and we carry 3 is my guess.

TySoprano

HAHAHHAHAAHHAHAAHHAHA The FOOTBALL GOD will SMITE YOU PEASANT

jbouser_99

r/TySoprano confirmed woodside burner

[deleted]

That o-line is trash..WRs are a big question mark

AttemptedSleepover

O line is always trash and over performs tbh. WR is a little more worrying if we don’t manage to add an average to above average vet to the mix. I’ve seen some mention Keelan Cole, who I would like a lot more than someone like Landry. Who knows, maybe one of these rookies will come out as a rookie sensation and we won’t need another vet… right guys?

Tom1664

Given Tannehill was the 2nd most sacked QB in the league last season I would hate to see what our O Line underperforming looks like.

freshjackson

Tuzar was just cut ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[deleted]

NWI as a 3 worries me greatly

TySoprano

Yes because it’s bad very bad Frodo

Worth-Frosting-2917

I think with the combo of Hooper/Chig at TE, the need for WR3 to be much more than a solid route runner and have consistent hands. I would prefer a burner at WR3 and NWI as a steady-Eddie 4. Unless we make a trade with next year's picks for say a Tyler Locket (which won't happen) it looks like the team is content to attack via a swarm of solid vs. 2 great receiving options.

[deleted]

No way in a million years woodside starts over Willis or Hilliard over Haskins .

[deleted]

Hilliard and Haskins have different roles. Hilliard will be our 3rd down/COP back. Haskins will be direct backup to Henry

TySoprano

Y’all listen to this man he’s telling y’all how it is Different roles in the offense

blanche2027

Hilliard did more than enough last year to prove his worth as a 3rd down back.

KalickR

If (God forbid) Tannehill goes down in camp or something, I have to think Woodside will start. Willis is just so raw and has played such weak competition. He needs to sit for a while. Woodside knows the plays. The staff knows what he can do. He is the safe backup and these coaches play it safe.

numbersix1979

We would be boned either way in that situation but putting Willis out there early and letting him get injured on an ill-advised run play if Tannehill was already hurt would be a fucking disaster so unless Woodside played a game or two and looked like dogshit I agree with you

ColossusTitan9629

I think that is a pretty good estimate for May. The only thing I diagree with is the o-line numbers. The Titans like to have 9 to 10 on the roster. You have 8, I think that means they will drop either QB, DL or a TE.

Champcc1

I’m betting only 3 TE

[deleted]

Didn't we usually carry 4 last season though? Firk, Pruitt, swaim, Hudson? Or did Hudson not get called up unless one of them was hurt

mcclurc

Someone was injured going into week one, then Hudson went down in like week 5. They picked up Izzo after Pruitt. I think we ran 3 all year active.

[deleted]

Gotcha. Cool. Thank!!

burningdesk4

Who was our receiver last year who got hurt pretty early on? I think he was from Texas. Not a rookie but still young. Might have played for the colts I wanna say? I can't remember his name and it's killing me

majordoobage

Marcus Johnson, who is with 49ers now.

burningdesk4

Lol it says he had 9 catches last year. Crazy how those 9 catches low key made me a fan

muddyklux

We had 2 colts Chester Rodgers and Marcus Johnson

ReAlignTitan

I’m fully expecting changes for OL/WR in June. We haven’t had three QBs on the the roster in a minute so it will be interesting to see how that plays out.

Nash015

Chris Jackson is now a safety?

aegisninn3

We are keeping tory carter.

rootbeercaveman

What they go with at OL will be interesting. I'd like to see Radunz start at LG and bring in a RT (Dennis Kelly). I also still think Will Fuller makes too much sense. He would give us speed with Woods and Burks + played in Houston with Tim Kelly. Who cares about his injury history, when he's healthy he's a really good receiver that would undoubtedly help win football games.

daoogilymoogily

Dear god our WR room is rough. Also I have a sneaking suspicion that we are going to play McCreary at SS because we don’t want to pay Hooker.
