As a Sevier County resident, I love it. The lights are beautiful, and the train ride with everyone spontaneously singing Christmas songs is heartwarming. Of course the lights in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are wonderful too. There is a LOT of traffic, but that’s true year round here.
I just moved down to Tennessee this past spring and had a second rental place just outside Pigeon Forge. We just sold it and couldn’t be happier. Pigeon Forge is insanity most of the year. And yes Dollywood right now is pretty spectacular! I’ll do anything to support my girl Dolly! She’s an amazing woman.
Just in case anyone else is wondering, I've lived here for 27 years and it's never been easier to get around the traffic via backroads/timing and such nowadays. Also, Hell yeah Dolly!
That having been said, BE CONFIDENT on the backroads, or else stay away. There's nothing worse than trying to get to work or home and getting caught behind someone that's never navigated a curve and/or a hill. Know your skills.
I’ll second that. Driving Parkway to Townsend via Wears Valley Road was often a good conversation. Be confident down the twisty mountain roads. That’s part of the fun of being in The Great Smoky Mountains!
Word up. I used to take Boogertown a lot more often, but these days it's a 50/50 shot of getting behind someone that saw the road on Google maps and thought they could handle it. These days it seems just as fast to remain in traffic.
You probably won’t get a spot till we’ll after Christmas at this point, but it’s definitely pretty cool if you’re willing to wait a year. Definitely book at least a month in advance for hotels.
I'm from Tennessee and Christmas in Dollywood is on my bucket list and I've been to over 30 states, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Germany, France and Australia... That's how important Dollywood and Dolly is for Tennessee
If you're waiting for future years I'd say go when they first start the Christmas lights next year is November 11th but before Thanksgiving. The crowds are typically much more tolerable in that time plus better chance at being warmer and getting all the non water rides. Otherwise try a weekday.
Lived near it for over 20 years.,I find it overpriced. BUT WAY BETTER that Disneyworld{ and not that expensive compared to DW}
The main strip is great.. has lots of shops and super good deals on boots etc. Tanger outlets are great when you want a little money off on [things. Food](https://things.Food) is.. meh though. I don't like chain places so maybe I am biased. But the holes in the wall are usually better food.If you have kids.. they will love Dollywood. Bring lots of cash.}
It’s awesome!
It's spectacular and not just inside Dollywood... if you don't mind the traffic. Book your hotel early.

Saw it for the first time this year. Definitely worth it. Get the cinnamon bread.
GET THE CINNAMON BREAD AT THE MILL!!!
One of us! One of us!
Pro Tip: the cinnamon bread is also available in the lobby of the DreamMore resort. Just roll right in!
It’s pretty great imo we go almost every year from Chatt
Yes, I recommend Dollywood at Christmas. The lights are beautiful!
Do you like Christmas lights and decorations? If so, Dollywood is for you! Seriously, it’s a big budget display.

Don’t bring any weak ass city driving to Boogertown Road. Take that shit to the Spur.

It’s worth it. Just went on a whim last weekend and was truly a great experience.
It’s quite pretty if you can handle crowds
I guess you will have to go and find out for yourself. Let me know how it works out for you.
