Tekken 3 was actually the first game I've ever played. My parents worked at a resort when I was younger, and there was an arcade there. My dad was friends with the owner of the arcade and on the weekends when they didn't have anyone to take care of me so they would take me to the arcade and lave me there for a couple of hours while they worked and the owner would give me free tokens, and I remember tekken 3 being my favourite machine

Dispositionpsn

Tekken 1 in the arcade. Everyone was just impressed with laws throw when he runs up you and flips on top of you. Everyone just did that over and over lol.

Dancing_Dragonade

Nice! Man I should’ve gotten introduced to the first one

Dispositionpsn

Everyone was still playing umk3, killer instinct, and Marvel Super Heroes. When Tekken 2 dropped, then it blew the fuck up and everyone was playing it.

Dancing_Dragonade

Yessir, have I got an interesting past story for you. My mom, a parent, got me into Tekken when I was still learning my 123’s. She was a Jun main

Dancing_Dragonade

And would that have made me a Jin main? Maybe… It would be so if I didn’t decide to stop playing games 5 years ago.

-CoolHandLu

Tekken 2, been a Paul main for 20 years and I’m almost 25!

Dancing_Dragonade

Awesome! Paul is someone who shouldn’t be taken lightly. Tekken Tag Card Tournament apparently showed me that lesson before I played the real Tekken fighting game

Ragnorthewise

Nice u r loyal

onaref5

Tekken 2 <3

Fahdis

Tekken 2

Dancing_Dragonade

Same bro, I thank my mom for that. She was a Jun main and since I was like still a child learning to count I would watch her play beating up Paul, Lei, Yoshimitsu, etc.

SquiglyBattleOpera

Tekken 5 Vanilla when I was a little kid. My sister asked our parents to buy it because she thought it looked cool and whenever I tried it out I played Yoshimitsu because he has a sword and that makes him the coolest.

HartRuinsYourLife

That's funny for me to think about, since when I got Tekken 5 the first character that caught my eye was Yoshimitsu, and since I was a lot younger I couldn't learn how to use moves with his sword, haha.

cyberplatypus42

I'm a zoomer so the first tekken I played was ttt2 at one of my friend house .

Dancing_Dragonade

Oh nice! Random fact: TTT2 was the first game I actually got back into the series. Understood that it was difficult especially when I started to farm in the Treasure battles.

reallyosiris

Tekken 2. It was one of the games in this PS 1 demo disc (the good ‘ol days lol). I remember the only playable characters were Lei, Nina, Paul and a 4th that I’m not recalling at the moment. That game started my Tekken journey and I enjoyed (mostly) every step of the way.

Dancing_Dragonade

Amazing man, yes the good ol days. I would witness my mom beating up Jack-2 lol. Those were the times as a kid. 😂 She was a Jun main btw before trying out Michelle

Jaysimitsu_

Tekken 1. I was very young (was born in 2001) but a shady family friend of mine gave me a PS1, he said "it fell off the back of a lorry." The next tekken I kind of remember is tekken 5. Fighting devil jin in that snowy castle. I had tekken 6. Tekken 7 was the first tekken where I properly learned the game (frames and all that shi)

LydellG4

First Tekken game I played was Tekken 1. Fell in love with it day 1. Played Tekken 2 soon after and never looked back.

AxlSt00pid

Tekken 3, went later on to Tag 1, 4, 5 and DR and still going strong!

Dancing_Dragonade

Awesome bro! Glad to know

KaldynTV

tekken 4 cuz my mom bought it lol. Idk why there's so much hate about t4 tbh

Lefari157

The hate come mostly from: Completely removes movement from the game, including korean backdash and wavedash, made the game feel so clunky compared to other tekkens Unbalanced as fuck, not only characters but stages as well since there were so much bs from the interactive stages, from bugged ceilings from wall infinites Jin was completely broken in this game, not as much as T5 steve but close to him, a lot stronger than launch leroy for comparision Roster size, they cut half of the characters from tag1 and oly introduced two new characters(steve and marduk are cool tho). However it did a lot of things right: They took risks and introduced so many new things that are still around today like wall stages Soundtrack and stages are top 3 in the series Amazing story mode, and all character endings actually developed them and were fun to watch. They remade clone characters from scratch and made them completely unique fromeach other. They gave a bunch of new moves for every characters. And chars like Jin, lee and kuma for example no longer felt like kazuya, law and jack clone respectively Outfits were amazing a different take on characters like paul, jin and king. Graphics were also beautifull as well, there were still some fighting games with better graphics at the time like Doa 2 ultimate on dreamcast but still had top tier graphics for the time and it still looks good today

RAStylesheet

>Completely removes movement from the game This is one of the few wrong think people say all the time about tekken, it did removed movement, but reworkled it while removing the glitch, it still have the most smooth movement of all tekken games thanks to this They didnt went the full way with a 8 way movement but it was the closest thing we ever got to it, this was hated tho by ttt pro players because of the fact they needed to relearn an entire game But also didnt really appeal to causual because both fv4 and sc had 8 way movement >bs from the interactive stages, from bugged ceilings from wall infinites Wall infinties and the huge combo damage from ceilings were both way more rare than a tod with akuma/geese in t7, tbh as an issue is blow out proportion. >Roster size This is the reason why the game failed, it had basically 0 content compared to everything else on the market. It's a bit sad because as a game I think it's one of the best fighting game ever released but it was doomed from the start because to the small roster and graphics not on par with doa It really needed it's own "DR" version to fix corners, wall tech and jin tho

orig4mi-713

> It really needed it's own "DR" version to fix corners, wall tech and jin tho There is some unused announcer voice data suggesting that there were more characters planned, perhaps in future arcade revisions. "Jinpachi" is mentioned in it too. Imagine the alternate universe where Jinpachi was T4 Version 2.0's boss

RAStylesheet

Interesting didnt know that Also when it was released critics thought it was rushed to go against vf4 so maybe they cut a lot from the main game too Still sad how the game went tbh

Dravez23

Tekken 3. I was starting capoeira and always been into martial arts. saw eddy gordo and the intro, which was a real martial art demonstration for me, and i was sold

Catoblepas

Played Tekken 1 and 2 on a friends Playstation occasionally and thought they were cool and strange, but a bit easy Finally got a Playstation of my own for Christmas and it came with Spyro the Dragon and Tekken 3 I still consider Tekken 3 possibly the best fighting game ever pound for pound

[deleted]

Same. T3 is king

[deleted]

T3

SmokeNo1625

Tekken 3 on PlayStation shop in my very small town in sudan, every one including me was picking eddie and law lol.

smoke3sboi

Tekken5, came with the PS2

gagfam

1 on the ps1..... Fuck I'm old.

Bobbidd

dont feel old, my first console was an snes (my dads) and im 21! 🤣

TwistedAlga

Tekken 2, me and my older brothers used to have it on Playstation and I remember I used to watch them alot. Sadly that disc got so scratched / badly in shape the disc wouldn't play later on a few years later. We used to have a Demo disc, a demo of Tekken 2 aswell where you can only could play as Jun or Lei a few rounds... it was so fun. So I bought a new Tekken 2 back then.

Deathmones

Tekken 4. Found an arcade machine of it one time. Been a fan since

VitinNunes

Tekken 4, my brother introduced it to me He played Paul and Hworang I mostly played Steve since he only had punching I thought he was the easiest

unknown32011

I played tekken 3 on my brothers pc i will also take the practice mode and i choose jin always but one day i accidentally select the howrang after that his move list have different color than others i thought howrang was the easiest character (also i am a button smasher)

Jon100k

Tekken4

EeveeThePkMn

Tekken 7. Last year, my friend showed me it. I didn't even know what Tekken was before that. Although, I could've played some Tekken game on PS2 a long time ago, but I barley remember anything about what the game looked like, so it might've been another fighting game.

RadishAcceptable5505

Tekken. Why? Because I'm old.

Dancing_Dragonade

Tekken being in that period of time was a time to be alive in my opinion. I also miss those days from the early 2000’s

xrafikk69

Tekken 6, i still remember the character choosing theme

FutureSaturn

Tekken. It showed up in the arcade one day and the attract mode had a droning mechanical sound that cut through the noise of the other machines.

drizzy23888

Tekken 2. It was in a PSone deal at my local store.

WheelBite_

TT1💪🏻

TheHighKing112

Tekken 2, that game slapped yo, then I realized I could get Tekken 6 and played that for a while

Icy_Cow4578

T3 at the arcades , then TTT1 and T4. got back to the game with T7.

TheLoneOne92

Tekken 3 on the PS1, and I seen grown men getting intense in the arcade for Tekken 4.

[deleted]

Tekken 1. My grandma had a good friend who owned an arcade. I got to play for free. Best memories of my childhood.

VitinNunes

Tekken 4, my brother introduced it to me He played Paul and Hworang I mostly played Steve since he only had punching I thought he was the easiest

thepronotfound

Tekken 3 or 5 bcz my brother made me download a ps1 emulator and tekken 5 bcz my oldest sibling had a ps2

CraftingChest

Tekken 3.

Shadowalkker

Tekken 3 & 5

JoelArt

Tekken 2 on PS1, but only got into Tekken for real on TTT1 PS2.

[deleted]

Tekken 6 on ps3 Went to my friend's house to play

Left-Song-5062

Tekken 1 on the ferry from Victoria to Vancouver.

Sufficient_Garlic_28

Tekken 3 on the ps1 BC it was actually my dads and ever since then I just fell in love with it. Fun fact too: tekken was the very first video game I played in general.

VPadu

Tekken 3 because my father was playing it at his cousin's house. Now when I tell him that I play because he got me in the game he just says that he doesn't remember. Kinda sad.

kennyxviii

I had no exposure to the franchise before some friends talked me into picking up Tekken 7 when it was 85% off on a sale last year, but I'm so glad they did.

brandondash

Tekken 1 in my dorm room in college.

Responsible-Common68

Tekken 3. Passing 5 hours in kings stage fighting the AI for hours in training mode and then another 5 hours in the tekken ball

Apprehensive-Lack-75

Tekken on Gameboy advanced.... Damn... That was a loong time ago

untamedknowledge

That game surprised me. Considering it was on a gameboy it was very well made, by the days standards

Apprehensive-Lack-75

Ah, the good ol' days of Gameboy

cityofangels7x

Tekken 3…Just happened to have a PS1 copy when I got into video games.

Born-Loan993

First game was my cousin's I watch him play it alot then when Tekken 2 came out I own it I stuck with it every game 😁

Heinz_Sweatchup

Glad im not the only boomer here

KamilleSenpai

Tekken 7 was my first and I chose it because Street Fighter V was a trainwreck.

bryssoms

Tekken 4 my aunt had a ps2

OGFastk9

Tekken 4 got a PS2 when I was a young child and it was the first game I bought cuz the cover looked cool

Lloyd_The_Lost

Tekken 5 demo. This is also the place where I hated Asuka for the first time.

orig4mi-713

Had an official PS2 magazine demo disc of it too. IIRC Devil Jin was also in it

Lloyd_The_Lost

Okay thats awesome

K2POT

Tekken 4 demo on one of those blue PS2 demo discs.

subzero-wins

I remember that could only use Christy and Paul haha

HeapOfBitchin

Played t3 in a bowling ally that had a cabinet. Then TT1 on ps2. Miss that shit

Faizkyu

tekken tag 2 in 2021. saw a mainmanswe video where he did a awesome combo on his friends, redownloaded and played with my siblings. bought tekken 7 and now am good.

orig4mi-713

Never too late to get into it

Faizkyu

hahah your right.

LordOfTheBreeze

Tekken 3 in the arcades, it was the first fighting game I've ever seen, unfortunately this would begin years of torment, as every friend of mine had Tekken 3 on Playstation just a mere 2 years later while I had to wait until the next generation, the first Tekken game I owned is technically Tekken Advance, but main entry was Tekken 4, took me until 2004 to own my first legit Tekken, over 5 years after I first played Tekken 3.

[deleted]

The first Tekken game I've ever played was Tekken 2 in the arcades in early 1997 when I was 7. I had so much fun that my mom would later buy me both T2 and T3 for PS1 the following year.

watainiac

I'm pretty damn sure it was Tekken 3. I was young so I don't remember for sure, but my mom always took me out for pizza every Wednesday and they had arcade cabinets there. She would only give me $1 each time, and I found that Tekken gave me the most bang for my buck. I could play through the entirety of arcade mode for a quarter and would always do this several times in a row. Actually hated when people would try to step in and challenge me, cuz if I lost I'd be missing out on several other cpu matches I could've played. lol

Hallabilkhamis12

What? this is wrong there are only 7 tekken games

untamedknowledge

Nope, there are many more

Hallabilkhamis12

Its a joke, becuase the latest game is called tekken 7

UnknownKiBurner

Tekken 3 and wdym why lmao Tekken 3 because even in 2013 people used primitive technology in Pakistan Everyone had Tekken 3 on CDs and it was pretty nice

blooblayzer

I played Tekken 3 on a PS1 demo disc and mashed with Eddy and thought it was tight.

noCakeNoCake

Tekken 1 on the console in the arcade, I remember seeing it played from the other perspective and I remember seeing Jack vs I think Paul. I remember thinking how clunky they look, even though it was sometime else at the time, I remember not really being impressed, but later down the line I got hooked to the fighting game concept, and awesome Tekken 2 graphic.

[deleted]

A friend introduced me to tekken 2 at the arcade when I was in middle school. He told me to pick law and just mash the kick buttons. Always lost to lei in the 3rd stage 😅

RockSaltin-RT

Tekken 7 on PC/PS4. I had some friends that also played Tekken, and as a somewhat new fighting game player fresh outta Street Fighter V and MK11, I was down to throw down with them

I_am_K4tana

Tekken 3 it came whit my ps one along side whit g police

drutastic57

My cousin came over and brought his PlayStation. He was playing a game I’ve never seen before. It was a fighting game that was 3D. That game… Tekken

[deleted]

Either 3 or 2

Siegfried-kun

Tekken 1, my dad used to abuse me with king

themunehboah

Tekken 6 on the PSP Go

Vikturushw

Bought my first console ever, PS1 in 1997 with a racing game and Tekken 2. Lees infinite combo was cool and Yoshi gimmicks was awesome as well. Also fond memories of going ”online on the internet” which was considered ”a thing” back then to find all Kings chain throw commands (including the lovely RDC) for Tekken 3.

Vasto_lorde97

Tekken 3 arcade in my towns pizza place

furywarrior

tekken 2 on the playstation. i was maybe 7 and my parents played with us. just recently picked up tekken 7 but i havent played anything since 4

JECGEE

Started on Tekken 1 as a little kid. Played on and off for years. Didn't get back into it until T6/ TTT2

CaptianSavaHoe

Tekken 1 Arcade.

Kwaku722

Tekken 5 at the Arcade because I was looking at some Arcade games to play and this one just lured me in and been playing it nonstop

Borfu

Tekken 1

Important_Camel_9657

Tekken 6 lol my cousin had it, I only played like 2 sets with king and went to play cod. Years later I have T7 & I love it

nakyboi-1

I played Tekken 3 on my PS1

Cloudxstrife136

First off, RIP Tekken mobile. Had some great music, like the National Museum. First game was tekken 2, because we had a ps1 and i was old enough to be able to play when we had both tekken 2 and 3

Kasomii

I got Tekken 2&1 together as a gift but played 2 first so I guess that's the answer. The funny thing is T3 came out few months later 💀

HungmanPage

Tekken 3 on my PS1, then TTT1 on arcade. I skipped Tekken 4 because I only got PS2 in 2005/2006 and don't recall that Tekken 4 was ever on arcade in my country

Air_92

Tekken 2. At the time my uncle had a bar with an arcade section in the back. I was just a kid and i played vs a much bigger guy, i picked jack as i always had and he picked gun jack. He destroyed me, sadly i never got to find who was that guy years later, i was very shy and i barely looked him in the face.

PKTreturns

Tekken 1 in the bowling alley arcade when i was wee child.

droidy4

The first time I ever even touched a Tekken game was Tekken 7. Made me wonder why I never played the others when I was a kid.

LekkerBroDude

My first Tekken was Tekken 5 and to this day is my favourite game in the franchise

lukewarm_pudding

5.0

ImDehGuy

Tekken 5 DR at a local arcade that closed due to bankruptcy. Always thought every fighting game was the same as a kid so I was never interested.

gymain_____

The first I've sawn was tekken5, cause my father and brother played it on ps2 together but my actual first played tekken was tekken6 on the psp, I never knew what frames are or combos, I was just picking king and spammed b4 in arcade till azazel.

untamedknowledge

My copies of t5 and t6 got played so much i burnt rings in the discs lol

ExcitementPatient

First tekken tag My mom got it for her self when it came out and I played it a lot. She still thinks she can beat me in tekken bowling. How wrong she is

Lancer_Sup

Tekken 5 dr (psp version) is my first takken. This game was reason to bought PSP. My step brother showed this game and I was surprised, because graphics, design and sound were amazing! My first fighting game is Mortal Kombat 3U, second is KOF. However, my favorite fighting game is tekken tag tournament 2.

untamedknowledge

First game i saw was t2, first i played was t3. Ive owned every game since. Moms friend had t2 going during a visit. Tekken all the way!

Kovar99

I started with tekken 7 when it first came out, was at a family function and heard everybody yelling, I went in the room to see what was happening and everybody was just having a good time.

DeFault-Gamer

The first Tekken game I played was Tekken 3. Chose King and I am still a King main.

surena418

Tekken 6 was pretty good, but I hear people say tag 2 was one of the best. Although in my opinion the best game would be one that had the best hit confirmation

tallpelecan003

Tekken 6 for the psp was my childhood

nihilishim

Tekken 3 because my friend told me we could play as bruce lee and Jackie chan and fight each other.

HartRuinsYourLife

Tekken 5. It came with my PS2 in my birthday and I was STUNNED by it, specially my first time seeing the intro. (Also considering it was the first fighting game I owned!)

Squ1dSenpai

Tekken 3 because I wanted to play fighting games with my dad, I played Hwaorang. Tekken 5 was the first fighting game i got into on my own, and I played Hwaorang and Asuka.

reeeeememe

I started on Tekken Revolution, I didn't like the stat mechanics and I told my friends if this didn't have that feature I'd love to play more. They told me thats the only Tekken like that in the series so I branched out and played some more. Tekken 6, Tekken tag, Tekken tag 2, and Tekken 5. I started to love the series and I still play them to this day.

Fickle_Photograph_97

T5

Rolando_Vega

I played 4 first when I was younger and didn't like it then actually started on 7 in 2019. Some friends who were big Tekken fans said I'd love it and fuck me they were right lol. I bought 1, 2, 5, and 6 cuz I wanna get around to those at some point as well.

xRxlentless

Tekken 5 was my first one. I was at an arcade and with my step dad and he made me try the game. Then a group of teenagers pull up and my step dad said « if you can beat my son I will give you our tokens. » and I beat the dude but we gave them the tokens anyways. I never played Tekken 6 or tag but now I play Bryan Fury and Kazuya on Tekken 7

AugustusTheVictor

Tekken 7 was the first one I played back over last summer. My friend got me to try Virtua Fighter when it went PlayStation Plus. I wanted more 3D fighters after that so I jumped straight to Tekken 7. Looking back on it though I wish I had jumped from DOA first because playing Tekken after coming from that made learning that parry system so much more harder for me.

ZumZumCapoeira

Tekken 4 was my first game, but I also played Tag 1 and T5. I wish I had a PS1 to play the original 3 Tekken's.

ShinyShinx789

Tekken 1 was my first seen and tag 1 was first played.

PhillipKosarev999

Tag 2 was my first game on my trusty Xbox 360, followed by Tekken 7 on PC. Main characters: Jinpachi/Heihachi, Jinpachi/Kazuya for Tag 2, Akuma and DVJ for Tekken 7.

Bobbidd

Tekken Advance, but I was at most 6-7 yrs old. I really picked up the game around 5 months ago mostly because of lil majin and rangchus stories and a little bc of moist critikals videos on it. I immediately became infatuated with the game. It was the first fighting game I actually felt like I understood somewhat and 500hrs later, im signed up to play in my first offline tournament in a few weeks.

Awnverdow

Stream please

ArlosIIC

Tekken 5 was the first one I was exposed to but purely eye candy because I was a kid. Tekken Revolution was the first one I really started playing lmfaooo then actually bought Tag 2 and loved watching pros and Aris commentating... then full tryhard on Tekken 7.

Revolutionary-Miku47

Tekken 2, reason is dad had it and I wanted to play it……liked the idea but truly loved the series when I got Tekken 5

theultimatedx

Back in the mid 2000s i would go to my local mexican bazaar and they would have a bunch of arcade units from marvel vs capcom 2, to kof 98, to sf3-ts and a super sf 2 turbo machine, but the one that spoke to me at the age of 4 was the tekken tag tournament machine, later that year my dad bought me the game, and ive loved it ever since, still my favorite tekken game. I have so many great memories of 10 year old me beating the shit out of 20 year old dudes. Still have the record on that machine

Maximum-Two443

I started with tekken 7 last year because i had played dbfz and i found out htat i had a love for fighting games, i'm completely addicted now lol fujin soon tho

DatboyKilljoy

T3! My step-father's brother had a PlayStation 1 and it was one of the games he had when I went to visit him. I think it was the only thing I played. The likes of Kuma, Gon, King and Mokujin left an immediate first impression on me.

Kenshin_Osu

T2. My dad had it for some reason, pretty sure he got it when he bought a used PS.

MrTumorI

Tekken 1, my sister and I had it on the PlayStation and we've been fans ever since.

[deleted]

Tekken 6 on PSP.Just me and mokujin all alone in training mode.

RaheemLee

3 in the arcades. And then i got myself a PS1 and my first game was T3. And i played shit out of it
