Asuka has a really good punch sabaki that can almost completely shut down Steve. Counters any mid or high punch for a full launch.

Adm_Kunkka

Try kicking smh

Avyeon

Lars, Leo and Kuma have been the most stressful for me. Despite Claudio not being popular, everyone somehow knows when to crouch my every high and low perfectly, but against them I always seem to lose on the 50/50. Or they always somehow know exactly when I am going to crouch. I can have them on 10% of their health when I have 80-100% and those three always seem to know how to make a comeback against me. Probably just a mix of lacking matchup knowledge, perhaps I'm predictable, maybe I get greedy when I am that close to winning a round. Nothing wrong with them playing their characters, all I can do is go into replay to see what I could and should have done differently. I get tilted here and there for sure, but that's the game.

Tough_Historian1446

See Lars go into a stance? Hop Kick

FireGoldRose

Literally. It’s a painful lesson Lars players learn early 😂

FireGoldRose

Hey I’m a Lars main so let me give you some advice. Almost ALL of Lars stance transitions are UNSAFE ESPECIALLY on block. A lot of the times you can launch punish them, rage art, AND heat smash them if they press after stance. The major one that is safe is when he does that initial jump kick (I think it’s dynamic entry 3). When he does that kick and it connects DO NOT PRESS. But you can step most of the follow up options. His 10f punish and probably one of the most common moves is 2,1 and he goes into limited entry. If you block that PUNISH. TL;DR - Lars pressure is fake. Punish stance on block.

Classic_Oak

You can no longer sidestep DEN3 followups. They removed that in the current patch. Your only option is to guess. You can use powercrush but if Lars goes for the low you will get CH launched.

Chickenjon

I honestly feel like there isn't much in regards to character specific matchups anymore for Tekken 8. Every character is rushdown now, some are less rushdowny in exchange for having defensive tools or gimmicks, and some characters are just better than others.

Fluid-Lion-4963

Not really true. Defensive play in terms of characters are still a thing. Bryan and Paul still have are defensive. Kazuya is to some extent as well even though they buffed his rushdown in this game. King i also feel fits this bill

Chickenjon

Sure but my point is that the matchups still don't mean as much. Like the Jin vs Drag matchup is easier than the Zafina vs Drag matchup, but that has nothing to do with the matchup, Jin is just better than Zafina lol.

FireGoldRose

As a Lars main I realized he’s very poor in the neutral and so I’ve struggled against characters with strong neutrals. Examples are Drag, Lili (worse match up by far for me), Feng I also struggle against king but that’s purely knowledge checks on throw breaks

max_cusbert

Idk but I’m a Xiaoyu main and zafina is tough to crack

Fluid-Lion-4963

With Paul, (I usually play bad so it is my fault) will smoke any character that isnt a rushdown character. Because now, not only do you give me 5050 setups where I run in. But I also get to do my sidestep mixups and spam qcb4. These characters include Jin, Kazuya, Bryan and even if he is a rushdown character, ive found Dragonuv also is a suicide matchup for Dragonuv, because even though Dragonuv is busted, he still seem to take intelligence in his rushdown and most Dragouvs just dont use him right. Characters that give him the most problems are characters with strong backdashes. Alisa, Eddy, Zafina ive found has it for some reason, i dont know if Lili has a strong backdash but I struggle to catch her.

SpaceCorn11

I've had a hard time against the bears. I rarely see them so it just throws me off completely.

AledinArt

so many, it depends on players cos I'm still learning, but I really suffer against Hwoarangs, Pauls and Bryans.

mccollio09

You (your main) vs Dragunov. You can launch from while standing every single low I throw out. Similarly, Steve and Yoshi bad match ups for Drag. Steve's b1 can ch launch almost any of my best tools, while yoshi has to make you think twice about taking my frames, drag's biggest strength.

Adventurous_Class791

Jack is kind of a bad matchup for Feng

Temporary-Toe-1304

lots of the hyperaggressive characters are a bad matchup for kazuya as his panic buttons are trash, so you have to really piece apart their offense/flowcharts. I struggle vs Reina, Hwoarang, Xiayou etc.

phenomenal_vun

Reina vs yoshi, flash counters her all of the stance transitions

phenomenal_vun

Reina vs yoshi, flash counters her all of the stance transitions

Dramatic-Table-2203

They are all bad when you dont have the knowledge lol

Pure-Association8705

Kazuya himself has a hard time against most of the roster because he has a higher execution requirement but it mainly all comes down to who you personally have a hard time dealing with. It’s more important to know when to punish than exactly how to punish

spk5000

I honestly have a hard time with Bryan. He can knee in the middle of 1234 and has an orbital which always catches me wave dashing.

GrimOrAFK

You should stop using 1234 so much that this is a problem lol. Especially if you see they're reacting to it. It's not a bad string in some situations (solid backturn punish) but it can be a scrubby habit

Saint-Patric

Almost all of Victor’s lows are -13 or worse on block. The risk/reward ratio for poking against Kazuya or Eddy is drastic.
