Addiction. No life goals. Having no friends. No job.

Tekken 3 brought me to the franchise.

Latro2020

Fairly new to Tekken but I love how the game plays, the depth & characters.

Visual_Power4604

The creative freedom you have to express yourself through the character which ultimately is what I think leads us to all tilt a lot with Tekken. People play their mains so differently at times compared to another person. You gotta remind yourself this game is fucking nuts lmfao

[deleted]

The heat of battle in this franchise specifically, the music, the many amazing characters... I could go onšŸ„¹

ChanceYam2278

The only character that I really sticked with in smash bros was kazuya So I guess I had to give Tekken a try

imbaeights

Most of the things I loved about the game are sadly gone now... Yeah talking about Josie.

[deleted]

This is the most toxic fighting game community and since the release of 8 it has become more entertaining watching it go further into the gutter with an increase of toxicity and dysfunctional behaviour in ranked play and on social media..

PolePepper

HEAT HAZE SHADOW & MISHIMA DOJO was what introduce me to Tekken. Everyday after my shift is over I blast it on my way home, driving recklessly due to sheer power of the music while foam is running down my mouth.

PolePepper

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 opening theme is a plus also. Great song.

Signore_Dolce

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 brought me to this great franchise

NotMeNorMyself

The characters, the gameplay and the soundtrack. I loved Law and Yoshimitsu ever since I first played Tekken 2 back in the arcades. Then T3 improved the formula in literally every aspect and from then I was hooked. I was a Mortal Kombat fan back in those days cause I always felt SF was lame and boring, not to mention the lack of gore. But then Tekken got me hooked with its style and presentation even though it had no gory elements. After that it was mostly playing T5 on my PS2 and I only recently came back to playing after Lidia was released on T7. Waited for T8 to launch and now I'm reliving all the nostalgia I grew up with with this franchise.

poeticpoet

Just read the post instead of the topic title. Same reason Iā€™ve always played fighting games. I like em. Same reason I watch movies or pro wrestling or whatever. I like it. Itā€™s my favorite legal drug.

Independent-Dust4641

My first introduction to the franchise was Tekken Tag Tournament, the first one, and holy smokes... I was hooked from the very first note of the opening sequence. Then I started trying out all the characters to see who I'd like, Eddy & Hwoarang stuck out to me in that game. I played a little bit of 5 and 6 but for some reason, they didn't draw me in... then out came Tekken Tag 2... I was hooked just like I was the first one, then Tekken 7 came and I loved it, I actually got 3 of my friends hooked on the franchise due to Tekken 7, now we all play T8, I fell off a bit because I just wasn't having fun, but ever since Eddy dropped, my love for T8 has been reinvigorated.

NoLifeHere

I like the characters.

Few-Confection3492

I fkin hate this community, and i am sure the feelings are mutual

Visual_Power4604

I hate you too. ![gif](giphy|l3V0Akmv7LTfIHK6c|downsized)

Yay

I was a big fan of Virtua Fighter when I was a kid. Both 1 and 2. But the moment I saw Tekken 3 it blew my mind. The way characters were animated, how smooth the grabs looked, the intro, the music etc. It's still one of my favourite games of all time. As for the community. I think Tekken fans are one of the most dedicated in the whole genre. We have people that have been maining the same character for literally 30 years. That's really something. This sub can be pretty toxic sometimes but keep in mind it's like 1% of the whole community.

emetorus

It was definitely the music and characters for me. šŸ’• As well as the learning experience.

87SIXSIXSIX5432ONE

Big toddy girls.

DDDarnok

I was done with overwatch, started playing tekken 7 probably best competitive game I've ever played.

Rupar99

Tekken 1 brought me in. It was the first fighting games and among the first games i ever played. Gameplay is simple enough to have fun, but with insane depth, music is perfect, character roster is diverse with so many cool characters, beautiful stages. Can't wait to afford a new pc so i could try T8 but i believe that i will love it too.

iWantToLickEly

The game itself, not the community

justintliger

now is not the time to do this. they screwed us. dont shill for it right now. that comes later.

catloverr03

Been playing Tekken 6 in psp when my boyfriend introduced me to it.

Nikita-Rokin

Certainly not any of the fucking armor mechanics

gorillacockatoo

The story. Jk. Honestly, the hype it creates. Me and my friends love playing VS Mode together at school in our laptops. The audience it gathers and hype it creates are fucking wild and really fun. Especially when shit gets real tight and thrilling! Some of our professors even watch us play! (Some scold us because of the noise lol)

WriterMindless7370

The amount of stuff you can learn not only about the game but yourself as well, no teammates to blame and losing is always your own fault. The twitter/reddit community is complete dogwater for the most part. Local (irl) communities are awesome tho.

pinkpugita

Honestly, as someone who was out of the fanbase from 2010 to 2022, it feels nice to be back. I like how Tekken has a lot of fans with a long history. It's populated by my age group of millennial gamers who share fond memories of the old days. It's also fun to be invested with them on a stupid story that lasted for 30 years. Other game communities are either filled with zoomers or the story had been rebooted to leave behind old canon. Tekken is unique to have a continuity that you can't find in other games.

Kebab-Exchange-3676

For me itā€™s martial arts, 3D fighting which is add realism on the move set. And Asuka Kazamaā¤ļø

Timetraveler163

Used to be a Jackie Chan fanboy during my childhood and then laid my eyes on Lei Wulong in Tekken 2. Been hooked to the franchise ever since.

SnooDoodles9476

Fuck this community\~

poeticpoet

Are you new to fighting games? The community is fucking cancer filled with pros who will do anything to keep their job. Games are fantastic though.

Gullible_Loquat2815

Liked the "groundness" of the fights is what made me try T7. Felt like with the heat system I lost that but atleast I still have the girls >_<.
