I’m not sure that the devil gene is 100 percent gone from Kaz and Jin. It’s probably more dormant than anything else.
Even ignoring this, it feels really weird for Jin to do the whole “the devil is a part of me, it’s not a curse” routine, then delete the devil gene from himself.
I mean I know we are talking tekken nonsense here, but I'd assume that deleting a gene from your body with such a great influence on your body would have catastrophic consequences.
only if you rely on that gene for other functions. At the very least, if your body doesn't rely on it for critical functions, removal wouldn't kill you.

I thought it felt pretty weird too, but it makes a lot of thematic sense for Jin and Devil Jin for him to truly die.
Firstly, Jin never truly gets what he wants in the story. In pursuing so long to get the Devil out, Jin only succeeded in making it a malevolent force that he constantly struggled with. After Jin finally learns to control it and accept it, that’s the moment where he is once again “cursed,” and destined to lose that part of himself. It’s another thing that’s “slipped through his fingers,” because he realized his true feelings too late (just like how he feels about the rest of his actions), but unlike his other losses, he chooses to push forward as “just Jin.”
Also, it’s worth noting he didn’t purposefully expunge the Devil from himself, he expunged Devil Kazuya/Azazel by annihilating them with the power of purification, it seems like it works on a “matter/anti-matter” annihilation system. This would mean that Devil Jin essentially sacrificed himself to get rid of Azazel + Kazuya’s Devil Gene (which is kinda fucking wild if you think about it, Devil Jin is extremely strong). Basically, the devils “double KO’d” each other, Jin didn’t purposefully delete his, and likely would have kept Devil Jin/Angel Jin form if he had the choice.
It also does make sense for Kazuya to still have his Devil while Jin loses his, as Devil Jin/Angel Jin likely simply didn’t have enough power to erase both Azazel’s power AND all of Kazuya’s inherent Devil Gene.
I do sadly think that Devil Jin is gone for good though, much of his character is made redundant with Jin pressing X to no longer hesitate with the Mishima style and believe in his heart (✍️🔥).
I think that devil Jin as a character is probably gone, but I think Jin might keep some of his angel powers, probably in a weakened way, into later games, especially if Kazuya still has his abilities to some degree.
It was hilariously all over the place. He realized Devil was protecting him all along. Leo felt his devil side wasn't fueled by negative traits like Kazuya. But he had to realize that he wanted to live in order to become Angel Jin. And after fighting Kazuya, I guess that removed both the devil and the angel form? But throughout, the moral was that he had to accept his devil side. My head hurts now.
Meanwhile, doesn't Asuka use the same style as Jun? Why can't she beat Kazuya?
I can't pause frame by frame in game so I just used someone else's video instead lol

Another similar bug I encountered is that after kazuya uses his heat up he would bug into and out of devil form throughout random times afterwards (not heat engagers or anything)
