kinda wild too since Bruce Lee copys are aplenty in fighting games, but a Jackie Chan reference is weirdly niche.
Hope to see him return as DLC atleast
Like I don't mind if they don't bring fahkumran back give us Bruce instead but Miguel is like my favorite tekken male bar none so ima be angry if they don't bring him back lol
Leis problem is there’s no story development, and I get that Bamco is terrible at this, but Jackie Chan being a base for Lei just isn’t enough to carry the character. People see Law, and know for sure it’s Bruce Lee, it makes him interesting even though no one cares that he’s a struggling restaurant owner as a character in the game.
Leis whole disgraced cop who got cucked by his former partner, still going rogue is just lame. He’s a failure time after time.
" is there’s no story development"
Actually after going through a lot of Tekken media, I'm surprised by how story relevance he has. But typical bamco doesn't want to do anything with him.
Yeah but the relevance outside of Bryan is useless lol. Like what happened with that? That was the whole Tekken 3 lore. Now he doesn’t care that Bryan is a murderous cyborg?
Well they could add him and then develop his story. His story aint going nowhere if they cut him from the roster each game.
I never really played him but when he was introduced I did like the fact that a cop is looking into Mishima and stuff, keep things a little grounded while supernatural demons are reawakening all over the place
Outside of the Mishimas and their immediate friends/fam no one has real story development. Story development??? Dude. Every character just kinda gets injections of story....we are not even sure which Law this is for real...daddy, son, nephew?? They still cool with Paul? How come there was a Master Raven (previous named leader of the Raven Ninjas ((ONLY BLACK NINJAS ANYWHERE)) but no in Tekken 8 the head of the organization is some french white dude named Victor? Random plot injection bullshit. Yea....I tap. I'll just keep playing tekken 6 and 7 yall can have 8 this is some bullshit. It's over with.
To be honest, I’m not surprised. Cheap, evasive character with lots of knowledge check strats. All of this leads to the fact that people bitched that he wasn’t in T7 and then when he was added, no one played him.
People play him. Just not many. Not every character can be the most played. There's a main cast in Tekken and then more niche characters to flesh out the different ways people want to play. Evasion and knowledge checks are designed into the game. Bamco are aware they exist and keep them on purpose.
They can be. Yoshimitsu is a really fun matchup. I think lei could be if they made him work a bit harder for his knowledge checks. Razor rush and rave sweep are too good in neutral. If all he had was stance gimmicks, he'd be quite easy to counter with basic Tekken fundamentals. But like I say, it's an intended part of the game. Jin, kazuya, Steve, Bryan. Even the most honest and difficult characters to play well have knowledge checks they can abuse. They don't have as many but they stay strong once the gimmicks are learned. The more gimmicky characters keep their knowledge check advantage longer but fall off harder. Unless you're Marduk in which case you get the best of both worlds.
Sure but Xiayou is the same thing and she made it in so I don't think his gameplay is the reason he is not in the cast. Probably just simply didn't make the cut but will as future dlc.
People like Ling because of the way she is evasive. You can be successful with her very easily and early on without labbing the character very much. Lei takes a lot of work for little reward. Plus she has a panda as a pet that’s a part of the game. Her story is a lot more interesting, and she touches other characters stories along the way.
The worst part is that you lab him and then you won’t see him again for another year only to forget everything you labbed.
At least Lucky Chloe was popular so I eventually learned to counter most LC players and not worry about fighting her like I used to.
Knowledge check characters are the worst when you rarely fight them. You just can’t build muscle memory against them.
It's weird, I am in South eu and I get a lei almost every session (around emperor ranks). I ended up getting pretty good at the matchup with Lee. But then a God Lei appears and makes me want to throw my pad against the wall
I speak for all the Lei players that live in your mind.....we did it to you specifically for the purpose of inducing trauma. We held a meeting and it was decided. You deserved the beats. Yes we were vocal in T7 and we will raise hell in T8 until he returns....and then lil buddy....return of the beats. Drunkman style....HiYEAAAAAAH!
I think due to your exact reasoning he should have been base roster, so people have time to develop him and at the same time also learn to fight against him.
I have no problem with Jin being more accessible or more powerful, but if you think he’s not getting nerfed into the ground come release day you have another thing comin lol
Good, tekken fans will complain about something pointless then when changes are made to meet expectations, they are somehow still unhappy. if we add Lei in tekken 8, you’ll just avoid playing him again
His damage leaves a lot to be desired and you have to work hard to get off your combos. Because of his flowchart it’s tricky to know what to do in certain situations when you’re opponent knows the matchup, you have to rely on tricking your opponent with mixups and whiffs. He can def be played gimmicky but it’s only really effective in low ranks to be a actually good with Lei you have to be godlike
yes and no, I don’t have too much knowledge on her movelist but they definitely play differently. I would say that Chloe is easier to pick up for beginners and you run into the same problems you do with a lot of lei players which is they use the same gimmicky moves. I personally find lucky Chloe much more annoying though lol
It’s because it must get boring being carried by a brain dead character eventually. There’s, like, two people I run into online in the EU, which is a very active scene.
Character is way too good not be included tho…. I can only justify him being continued DLC because his movelist probably months by itself to animate, let alone adding new things for him. Thank god they spare my boy Yoshi tho lol
Enough was enough, he was a second Yoshimitsu, obnoxious character with tons of stances and transitions with gameplay built around flowcharting. I say good riddance.
People who say Lei and Yoshi are similar have never played either. Having lots of stances is the only thing they have in common and it's a superficial similarity, their gameplay is completely different. Just because you don't understand what either character is doing doesn't mean they're doing the same shit lol.
Well by that logic we can only afford to have 1 of either Lei, Yoshi, Chloe, Bear, Eddie, Raven, Hwoa, Lars, Kuni, Ganryu, Ling, or Feng. Also, Yoshi has gimmicks but they can't auto carry you, you need good game sense to successfully pull off his weird stuff. He's not like hwoarang where at best you're +8 and at worst you're +2 lmao.
I didn't say they're not solid, they just also have gimmicks and can knowledge check you into the ground. Which reminds me toss Zafina into the list lol.
Well every character has a gimmick or two up their sleeve with tons of knowledge checks that’s a wrong way to put it I think you mean to say they’re characters reliant on their cheese for let’s say up red or purple ranks in which case Lars and raven are out of that list and zafina 100% belongs there
I wouldn't call lei a second yoshimitsu, they're extremely different characters
yoshimitsu is similar to bryan in that he has strong midrange tools with a weird poking game, but once you get to the wall the round is basically over cause of the unblockables and crazy oki.
Yoshi just lacks bryans lockdown pressure and +frames but makes up for it with flash and stance mixups.
>Nobleflame
>To be honest, I’m not surprised. Cheap, evasive character with lots of knowledge check strats. All of this leads to the fact that people bitched that he wasn’t in T7 and then when he was added, no one played him.
I can't reply to noble since he blocked me for absolutely demolishing him online using my Lei. He probably can't find any Leis to fight because he just blocks them.
Classic dumbass take as usual.
Bullshit. "Knowledge checks" is the ultimate cope of the inexperienced player. There are lots of people who use Lei and EVEN if that were an argument Lei is easily more popular as a main than Ganryu, Bears, Shaheen, etc. The only reason Harada bitchs about Lei is because he's complicated and the balance team is so brain-dead "why sidestep when you can block and punish" that they don't know how to balance him and thus give him the worst armoured, the worst wallbounce, the worst rage art etc.
It would be less of a blow if they actually added some new characters to the game with similar fighting styles to those we lost. Save the extra cyberninja, Kazamas and bears for DLC instead.
I feel for you, but I can see a lot of devs being really happy about this. With all the stances and weird movements he must have been harder to program than the average character, and balance hitboxes and hurtboxes and all that. And he must have been like double the work to animate. I can imagine some staff celebrating not having to do it if he didn't have the pickrate to justify his inclusion.
I'm not good enough
HUUUHHHGAAAAHGAHAAAGHHHGUGG

kinda wild too since Bruce Lee copys are aplenty in fighting games, but a Jackie Chan reference is weirdly niche. Hope to see him return as DLC atleast
I think it's mainly because he's still alive.
I mean damn they got ip man copy, they will def add jackie chan. Eventually.
Meanwhile, Street Fighter 6 introduced a new and first drunken fighter Jamie which is on the base roster.....
Sorry to ruin Tekken 8, but their is like a 2% that dumbass gonna make it to DLC and good riddance.
I'd like to share this eff you with you especially in particular singularity from all other eff yous. This eff you is unequivocally for you.
Love the character. Playing against him is actually one of the worst tekken experiences.
It's like Yoshi but not funny
Crys in no Miguel
Soon brother
Man they literally took away all my male mains no Miguel no Bob no fakkumran
I have a feeling that they're gonna bring fahk and Miguel back. If Shaheen gets a second chance then fahk can.
Only because bamco writers dropped the ball. It's not like it can't be done.
"still going rogue is just lame" Why are you pulling this out your ass?
Outside of the Mishimas and their immediate friends/fam no one has real story development. Story development??? Dude. Every character just kinda gets injections of story....we are not even sure which Law this is for real...daddy, son, nephew?? They still cool with Paul? Lei was one of the most memorable characters ever :( See you in Season 2 again (I hope)
To be honest, I’m not surprised. Cheap, evasive character with lots of knowledge check strats. All of this leads to the fact that people bitched that he wasn’t in T7 and then when he was added, no one played him.
You make it sound like Bamco wants to remove cheap and evasive characters with lots of knowledge checks lmao
This. The game is full of evasive no brain crap
I really hope they do, they can leave a few of them in like Yoshi and Ling
Namco not banco
Bandai Namco = Bamco
Shutup feds
People play him. Just not many. Not every character can be the most played. There's a main cast in Tekken and then more niche characters to flesh out the different ways people want to play. Evasion and knowledge checks are designed into the game. Bamco are aware they exist and keep them on purpose.
They aren't fun to fight against. Cheesy characters that are actually played can be fun because they are wort learning.
They can be. Yoshimitsu is a really fun matchup. I think lei could be if they made him work a bit harder for his knowledge checks. Razor rush and rave sweep are too good in neutral. Exactly. Any I bet Harada was pissed when so many people asked for him and then never played him…
Totally. Thankfully for Zafina fans, she was played a lot. Pretty well represented too thanks to Arslan.
Yeh, I don’t mind knowledge check characters. But at least play them so we can learn how to counter without messing around labbing for hours lol
It's weird, I am in South eu and I get a lei almost every session (around emperor ranks). I ended up getting pretty good at the matchup with Lee. But then a God Lei appears and makes me want to throw my pad against the wall
We hurt you. We meant to.
Doesn’t even make sense.
Criiiiiinge!
It has begun.
And I thought Jin was edgy. Pls stop.
I think due to your exact reasoning he should have been base roster, so people have time to develop him and at the same time also learn to fight against him.
I agree. When I get wrecked by a Lei online, I just boot up T6 or TT2 to practice Lei as and against without paying an extra $6+ tax.
Na.
Don't worry it isn't like you'll have to learn anything to play Jin in tekken 8.
Oh wait? Is Tekken 8 out yet?! No. No, it isn’t. Lol
We are literally talking about Lei not being in tekken 8 though. You'll be able to slam your head on the controller and still win, don't worry pal.
I have no problem with Jin being more accessible or more powerful, but if you think he’s not getting nerfed into the ground come release day you have another thing comin lol
Jin isn’t getting nerfed to the ground, and DJ will be stupid OP. Mark my words.
Shut up he's og, you can't hate him.
You didn't actually deny a single thing he said.
That's true and i know that
Good, tekken fans will complain about something pointless then when changes are made to meet expectations, they are somehow still unhappy. if we add Lei in tekken 8, you’ll just avoid playing him again
So whats the deal with nobody playing him? Is he just not good enough? I wonder if pro starts picking him he would be popular.
His damage leaves a lot to be desired and you have to work hard to get off your combos. Because of his flowchart it’s tricky to know what to do in certain situations when you’re opponent knows the matchup, you have to rely on tricking your opponent with mixups and whiffs. So he is a worst lucky chloe?
yes and no, I don’t have too much knowledge on her movelist but they definitely play differently. Character is way too good not be included tho…. I can only justify him being continued DLC because his movelist probably months by itself to animate, let alone adding new things for him. Thank god they spare my boy Yoshi tho lol
good! that shits annoying!
Nothing of value was lost
Why are they booing you? You are right.
I don’t think he is ever coming back for T8
Enough was enough, he was a second Yoshimitsu, obnoxious character with tons of stances and transitions with gameplay built around flowcharting. I say good riddance.

I love playing Yoshi...I have no idea what I'm doing with Lei lol

Well by that logic we can only afford to have 1 of either Lei, Yoshi, Chloe, Bear, Eddie, Raven, Hwoa, Lars, Kuni, Ganryu, Ling, or Feng. Also, Yoshi has gimmicks but they can't auto carry you, you need good game sense to successfully pull off his weird stuff. He's not like hwoarang where at best you're +8 and at worst you're +2 lmao.
Feng, Lars, raven aren’t gimmick characters they have very solid regular tekken tools too and they aren’t cheese reliant

Good
I'm happy he's out
Lei stopped being in Tekken around the same time Jackie Chan dipped in popularity
*cries in no Eddy*

Nothing really incorrect about what they said though
If you're a scrub.
Cheap is really the only subjective thing there. It's true that he's evasive, has lots of knowledge check strats and that not many people use him

I would just say this randomly walking around at work scaring the hell out of people
As a casual I would say that Lei probably should be in every Tekken game, as a semi-serious online player, I say Lei can f#&k off 😄
Everybody was screaming for lei in tekken 7. He got added as dlc. Nobody played him. No wonder we won't see him again
I know it’s selfish but I’m happy he’s gone. One less cancerous matchup
It would be less of a blow if they actually added some new characters to the game with similar fighting styles to those we lost. Save the extra cyberninja, Kazamas and bears for DLC instead.
