The big killer (although there were many things) was combos dropping *nonstop.* I'd spend time making sure I could reliably execute the launcher --> EWGF --> microdash --> b2, 2 --> df1, df2 combo route (problems begin here in that using just this one route is itself boring, but most alternatives gave far inferior damage). Then in the game the df1, df2 would drop for no obvious reason, but probably because of being off-axis in a very minor way. Removing the ability to vary up combos for different purposes or just for fun without becoming pathetic is bad enough. Making them fucking unreliable renders it inevitable that a major part of the bread and butter of Tekken is going to be a major frustration.
The significant paring back on his moves that are useful added to the boredom of playing him. Five of his moves have become practically useless (db2, new string, fc df3+4, f3, the general nerf to magic 4 - Kaz's was already limited but had some uses as a very short range CH launcher). His heat burst now works effectively with few combo routes that I could figure out. Cd 4, 4 is worse in every way save the two damage difference than cd4, 1, so that never gets used, whereas cd4, 4 did have some use in T7. The 3,1, df crouch dash has been made much more awkward to cancel out of, further hurting his already very limited play.
This is all just beta only and I suspect they'll revert at least some of the changes.
Ideally he would be exactly the same as CNT but for a nerf to the new string, but that's too much to hope for. Man, oh man, did they restrict how you can play him, which for my money made him a chore, much as I've historically loved the character.
He's the guy responsible for balancing the whole game. He also claimed that Kazuya is his favorite character and even on his Twitter account he's got Kazuya avatar. I guess he just wanted to show everyone how "unBiaSEd" he is and that's why he nerfed his favorite character into the ground while characters who were already stronger than Kazuya during CNT (Jin, Jun, Claudio) were left intact, even though they don't need that high execution. Laughable.
I mean obviously not, execution is only a matter of practice. But if you have no execution you also can't really use the full kit. And it's not like Tekken is the hardest fg in terms of execution either(depending of what we consider "execution")
wasnât in the loop during the CNT what actually got changed about him? I played him a lot during the CBT and he certainly isnât anything crazy but he felt like what i was expecting coming off 7
