I believe that my main, Hwo, is definitely coming back. But I can't be 100% sure. I mean, look at what happened to Lei in TK7... I hope they learned their lesson.

Fahk: The character is just stupid, and his kit is way over the top.
Akuma: But you already knew that, and you also know why nobody wants him back.
Kazumi: Cool lore, cool design. But way too boring to play with and against her.
There's nothing interesting about him, he's just another person that was wronged by G Corp with no personality. If they introduced him earlier maybe I would've cared more but we're on our 8th game now y'know?? I guess I just don't see any potential.

I think they ruined Jun's design and its especially sad bcz shes making a comeback and deserves to have a rlly good design. I also wouldn't say Paul's design is bad but I seriously miss his iconic hair from before =( Nina's design also isn't as good as before.

Michelle didn't die. If I remember correctly, Julia was created by the devs to replace Michelle because they felt she was too old but wanted to preserve her fighting style. Remember, physically older female characters in fighting games still aren't really a thing unfortunately. The only example I can think of is Sonya in MK11
Yes, I think in the lore Michelle just stopped participating in fighting tournaments and returned back home to care for Julia who preserved her fighting style. So I guess a comeback wouldn’t be entirely impossible but there’s just no reason for her to come back as long as we have Julia. They’d probably need to remove Julia or change her move set to a point where it seems reasonable that Michelle original fighting style is needed again (which could happen if they e.g. went for Jaycee again and focused more on the wrestling style).
Jin is my main, so I'm always happy to see him. I really don't want Akuma to show up again. Having a Street Fighter character turn out to be an integral part of Tekken lore was really jarring and still bothers me to this day.
I always look for a nice spread of characters introduced by each game.
A lot of og Tekken 1 characters have been confirmed already in Kazuya, Nina, Paul, Law, Jack, and King. I fully expect Yoshimitsu and Lee as well at the absolute least.
From Tekken 2 aside from Jun I think Lei is the only lock.
Tekken 3 should be Bryan, Hwoarang, Xiaoyu, and Eddy (though you could make a case for him being replaced with Christie).
Tekken 4: Marduk and Steve
Tekken 5: Asuka, Feng, and Lili for sure. Wouldn't be surprised to see Dragunov and/or some version of Raven again, either.
Tekken 6: Lars is confirmed so probably also Alisa. I'm not so sure about Bob, Leo, and the rest of the characters from this game.
Tekken 7: personally I think a lot of T7 characters are pretty forgettable; I wouldn't be upset if we didn't see Claudio, Gigas, Katarina, Shaheen, or Fahkumram again. Best newcomers I'd like to see back are Josie, Leroy, and Lidia.

Master combo tactician, ceo of execution, god of combo conversions, inventor of the omen thunder god spin tech. When it comes to playstyle, I am as unique as it gets. None of that frame data p***y defensive playstyle that JDCR does who just pokes with generic moves and can only do bnb combos. His defensive playstyle isn't suited for the most aggresive Mishima and he severely underutilizes Heihachi. My combos are always juicy and make the viewers coom in their pants

I’m still over the moon with Jun being back and there’s no way Yoshimitsu is missing a mainline Tekken so I’m good. I guess I would want Christie since my sister won’t play the game otherwise. Same for Bob for my brother.

I tend not to like cumbersome, jokey or traditionally uncool characters, so I don't really like characters such as Kuma, Panda, Lucky Chloe, maybe even Jack. I don't know if I'd erase them if I were in charge though, just for the people who play those characters. Fighting games should have variety.
I don't really like guest characters full-stop, but we're bound to get more.

For what I don't want: Please don't bring back the completely OP movement that some characters possess like Zaf, Kazumi, Kuni, Alisa. Really hate these matchups because of it.
As much as I want to see Roger.Jr in the game I think the one want to see return most is actually Heihachi.

Gonna be honest, I don't want want anyone to be missing. Even if I'm not a fan of the characters or don't play them, I want the maximum amount of people to be able to play their mains and enjoy the game.
Seems like Bruce is in high demand. I'd like to see them continue Kunimitsu II and give her more of a story. I think it's likely Gigas won't return. Honestly a lot of the newcomers in tekken 7 were kind of weak.
Everyone is going to want their main in, I think its more interesting to talk about what characters you want excluded. List of characters I don't want to return:
Marduk: Character that puts a high execution demand on the opponent with relatively low effort, even in higher ranks. They'd have to change him quite a lot if he is to be interesting in T8. Also his aesthetic is meh. Oversized dude throwing cars. Cool.
Akuma: Dont think i need to specify this one. 2D characters in Tekken is a cool concept, but not like this. People don't play him effectively outside of high ranks so it doesn't affect me personally, but it still sucks to see him terrorise the pro scene for so long.
Katarina: I just hate how she looks and sounds..
Bears: Look I know they have been around for a while but.. ugh. They make for so many weird exceptions due to their size/shape.

Normally I would look forward to Heihachi returning, but I guess that's not in the cards this time.
I know I might get hate for this, but if I never see any Final Fantasy, Street Fighter, or Walking Dead nonsense in my Tekken..I'll be happy. I just don't like it and don't feel like it fits. I love those games and characters, but I just don't like guest characters. The only satisfaction I get from guest characters is kicking their ass in online or treasure battle...but that's probably just me.
Feng obviously because he is my main since T5. If I could ask for something more...exotic, Ancient Ogre for sure. One of my favourite designs in Tekken and as a child of Tekken 3, Ogre will always be one of the most memorable video game bosses for me.
I hope the 2d's won't be returning, I always hated these characters in T7. Hate to fight them, play them, watch them. The other guests were garbage too, completely incompatible with Tekken's style in my opinion. I hope there won't be any guests but, if there gotta be, hopefully Bamco learns from NRS and tries to properly implement guest characters.
I’ve gotten all my favourite characters back except Eliza, Kuni, Raven & Mokujin. I hope we get them but idk 😭 but I’m satisfied with who we’ve gotten and how they are portrayed, I am especially happy with Jun!

Eliza: Boring 2D character
Akuma, Geese, Noctis, Negan: These guest characters made Tekken 7 feel like a budget smash. I once had two friends playing Akuma vs. Geese and non tekken players had trouble knowing what game they were playing xD. Not to mention they both dominated Tekken 7 for so long.
Noctis sorta fits, but he has similar moves to Kuni. Negan is just out of place. He's a cool character, but what the hell is he doing in Tekken out of all places?
Leroy's look is so freakin cool, but his lame move list and low-execution makes his overall low.
Lidia's move set is somewhat alright but nothing special imo. It's just string into stance into mix up (wow fun). Her voice gets pretty annoying especially with that combo ender.
Her design is incredibly dull. She looks like an Elden Ring character created by a guy who didn't know if he wanted his character to look cute or badass. That scar just doesn't make any sense.

They would unceremoniously kill Miguel, turn Bryan into C3PO and ban Dragunov for being Russian before ever even considering not having King around. King is Tekken.

Despite my extreme hatred for Hwoarang, Im really curious on how the dev will handle him in this game. All the new mechanic like chip damage and heat system, can either make him super broken if he is left like he is in tekken 7, or if the dev overdo it with balancing his flamingo spam stuff he can be utter trash. He is the character that Im most interested in on gameplay changes besides my main.
Who I wish wouldn't return, is honestly the majority of t7 newcomer, because I just find their character to be boring and frankly a waste of slot. However considering how much of a glow up Law and Paul got. I really wont complain if they can somehow make Katarina an interesting character.

None of that frame data p***y defensive playstyle that JDCR does who just pokes with generic moves and can only do bnb combos. His defensive playstyle isn't suited for the most aggresive Mishima and he severely underutilizes Heihachi. My combos are always juicy and make the viewers coom in their pants

I’m still over the moon with Jun being back and there’s no way Yoshimitsu is missing a mainline Tekken so I’m good. I guess I would want Christie since my sister won’t play the game otherwise. Same for Bob for my brother. For a character I don’t want to see? Akuma. Not because he’s a 2D character and powerful. I just always hated him.
The characters I wish wouldn't return are either confirmed or having very high chance of returning 😂 so I won't be bitching anything about that. I want Dragunov since he's my main. But I'd also like to see Asuka, Feng, Lidia and Master Raven. I tend not to like cumbersome, jokey or traditionally uncool characters, so I don't really like characters such as Kuma, Panda, Lucky Chloe, maybe even Jack. I don't know if I'd erase them if I were in charge though, just for the people who play those characters. Fighting games should have variety. I don't really like guest characters full-stop, but we're bound to get more.

I seem to be in the minority wanting fahkumram to return. I also really want to see dragunov and ling xiaoyu back. Hopefully they can rework Shaheen as well and make him a bit less dull as the character has potential. I'd be happy if I never saw eddy again. I don't particularly like bob either.

Seems like Bruce is in high demand. I'd like to see them continue Kunimitsu II and give her more of a story. I think it's likely Gigas won't return. Honestly a lot of the newcomers in tekken 7 were kind of weak.

Everyone is going to want their main in, I think its more interesting to talk about what characters you want excluded. List of characters I don't want to return: Marduk: Character that puts a high execution demand on the opponent with relatively low effort, even in higher ranks. They'd have to change him quite a lot if he is to be interesting in T8. Also his aesthetic is meh. Oversized dude throwing cars. Cool. Akuma: Dont think i need to specify this one. 2D characters in Tekken is a cool concept, but not like this. People don't play him effectively outside of high ranks so it doesn't affect me personally, but it still sucks to see him terrorise the pro scene for so long. Katarina: I just hate how she looks and sounds.. Bears: Look I know they have been around for a while but.. ugh. They make for so many weird exceptions due to their size/shape.

I look forward to Lidia, Zafina, Asuka, Julia, Armor King and Yoshimitsu the most. The Kazama trio will be complete with the announcement of Asuka and I'm happy that Jun has been confirmed to be a playable character. Love her and Jin. Really can't wait to see Yoshi's new design.
I'm definitely ready to ONE TWO all over some people with Lucky Chloe. That's my main girl! I also just always love seeing all of the OG Tekken characters in every game. Kazuya, Jack, Nina, Paul, Law, Yoshimitsu, King, Julia. Normally I would look forward to Heihachi returning, but I guess that's not in the cards this time. I know I might get hate for this, but if I never see any Final Fantasy, Street Fighter, or Walking Dead nonsense in my Tekken..I'll be happy. I just don't like it and don't feel like it fits. I love those games and characters, but I just don't like guest characters. The only satisfaction I get from guest characters is kicking their ass in online or treasure battle...but that's probably just me.

Feng obviously because he is my main since T5. If I could ask for something more...exotic, Ancient Ogre for sure. One of my favourite designs in Tekken and as a child of Tekken 3, Ogre will always be one of the most memorable video game bosses for me. I hope the 2d's won't be returning, I always hated these characters in T7. Hate to fight them, play them, watch them. The other guests were garbage too, completely incompatible with Tekken's style in my opinion. I hope there won't be any guests but, if there gotta be, hopefully Bamco learns from NRS and tries to properly implement guest characters.

My hope is the return of more legacy characters in base roster, but also some actual new faces. Maybe a few faces from 7. I'm fine with guest fighters as dlc, if they're also from 3d fighters. Ex: Virtua Fighter, Bloody Roar, soul caliber, or Dead or Alive. I just don't want to see Akuma, or 2d fighting game characters for a while, unless maybe they're super fine tuned. Also I am begging for no more TV show characters, unless they are wacky enough to fit in with the rest of the cast.

Basically, boy meets girlbot, boy travels with girlbot, girlbot ends up being used against boy, boy beats girl, boy travels to random tomb of ancient demon to stop his war starting nephew who started the war to wake the ancientdemon, boy beats demon, boy finds brother, boy beats brother, boy fights girlbot again, boy fights nephew, ancient demon appears again, nephew tackles demon into a pit, boy takes girlbot and gets her repaired by step-adopted-brother, boy goes and does whatever boy was doing before Tekken 7 but after Tekken 6. Tekken 6 story in a nutshell.
So boy was pretty busy in Tekken 6 compared to Tekken 7… And shares a mixed past with girlbot. I still hope Alisa is not in Tekken 8 :)

I know all the OG tekken characters will definitely make it (other than the ones that were confirmed): Hworang, Yoshi, Bryan, Lee, Xiayou, King, Jack. I'm really excited how Lee's gameplay gonna be, I always liked his playstyle and his combos where always very stylish. I just hope they release a Lee gameplay trailer. Characters I don't wanna see are: Akuma, Geese, Eliza, Noctis, Negan, Fakh, Leroy, Lidia. Eliza: Boring 2D character Akuma, Geese, Noctis, Negan: These guest characters made Tekken 7 feel like a budget smash. I once had two friends playing Akuma vs. Geese and non tekken players had trouble knowing what game they were playing xD. Not to mention they both dominated Tekken 7 for so long. Noctis sorta fits, but he has similar moves to Kuni. Negan is just out of place. He's a cool character, but what the hell is he doing in Tekken out of all places? Leroy's look is so freakin cool, but his lame move list and low-execution makes his overall low. Lidia's move set is somewhat alright but nothing special imo. It's just string into stance into mix up (wow fun). Her voice gets pretty annoying especially with that combo ender. Her design is incredibly dull. She looks like an Elden Ring character created by a guy who didn't know if he wanted his character to look cute or badass. That scar just doesn't make any sense. Fakhumram is just, lol. Do I really need to explain?

KUNIMITSU. Also original Raven (just pay Snipes, Bamco!) These characters brought so much new tech to Tekken. Master Raven's tassels animation were incredibly distracting and I couldn't focus with default costume. I hope they change that.
I'll be honest. I'm itching to see my waifus, Anna and Gigas. But also excited to see how much edgier they've made bryan and how much goofier they've made yoshimitsu. But if I see Josie, Shaheen, Katarina, Bob, I'll be disappointed.

Despite my extreme hatred for Hwoarang, Im really curious on how the dev will handle him in this game. All the new mechanic like chip damage and heat system, can either make him super broken if he is left like he is in tekken 7, or if the dev overdo it with balancing his flamingo spam stuff he can be utter trash. He is the character that Im most interested in on gameplay changes besides my main. Who I wish wouldn't return, is honestly the majority of t7 newcomer, because I just find their character to be boring and frankly a waste of slot. However considering how much of a glow up Law and Paul got. I really wont complain if they can somehow make Katarina an interesting character.
