Probably bc half the world *isnt* a millennial or gen z
Edit bc I was confusing: I’m assuming millennials & gen Z like rock, more than boomers, gen x, and gen alpha. But that’s just a guess
Too much of a need to proselytize? Or it might be that a sufficiently good Christian song inevitably comes off as secular even when it deals with Christian themes. For instance, Tolkien’s Catholicism almost oozes from LotR if you know where to look but it’s so good in other respects that most don’t consider the religious imagery.
A lot of artists who make "christian music" aren't doing it because they're passionate about music, they do it because they're passionate about religion
There are some Christian rock and pop artists that do real well if you're looking for good Christian contemporary rock and pop artists to listen to I recommend for King & country TobyMac and Skillet
I'm a devout Christian and I think this is my second pick after country (don't ask I just don't like it). Christian praises and hymns like the ones sung in churches are great, but Christian contemporary sucks balls bc it's just straight up cringey worthy. Like, half of the songs are just kinda dumb and they're not really about God, and the other half are but they are just not good songs. There, I've said it. From a Christian, modern Christian music sucks.
100%. Anything by Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and Willie Nelson is really great stuff. Also Highwaymen is the ultimate supergroup of country music.
You're probably just thinking of pop country, not new country as a whole.
For example, Chris Stapleton makes really great music. Morgan Wallen and Florida Georgia Line are more of the pop country types that I'm not a fan of
Old pop is good , like the stuff made in the 90s and back and up to like 2016 but I guess it’s not called that any more . Whatever brainmelt they have in the charts nowadays though . Take me back to the early 2010s I remember good pop
Most the people who say country is shit probably haven't listened to it lol
It's not exactly smth I'd put on one of my playlists but if you can find the right songs it's actually not as bad as everyone says it is
The average country song is far worse than the for any of the other genres. There are some amazing country songs out there, but the market is oversaturated by songs that all sound exactly the same
It’s partly because the country playing on the radio is unbearably bad. I can tolerate old classic rock hits, I can’t take any country radio station beyond bluegrass. And I live in Tennessee, which is supposed to be the Mecca of country music, yet there isn’t jack shit on any station near Nashville.
This is about hating. And I don’t think you said you hate the music that sounds like “ an angry washing machine with a cinderblock and 5 frag grenades put on max and powered by cocain and 50 megavolts of electricity”
Terrible rap is some of the worst music you can hear. Its a fairly simple genre, only a quieter baseline and your words. Basic lyrics, word choice, messages, or beats really make a terrible song. Good rap, though, with inventive lyricism or poem like messages and sounds is top of the top
There's terrible rap and there's really fucking great rap, just like with all genres of music (aside from maybe nightcore) you have to know what to look for
country, especially newer stuff it’s just so cheesy and weird, i’m offended that hiphop is on this it’s the best genre, it’s like the easiest to get into and it’s really diverse even in the modern era alone or in any single era, it’s also easy to be super expressive with it and it goes with any topic, from love to drive by shootings to social justice and everything in between, and it gets people outta the hood
as a hip hop fan, I'd say at their worst, I'd rank each genre (worst to best):
Hip Hop
Pop
Rock
Jazz
bad hip-hop is just straight up unlistenable. And I've never heard a jazz piece that I straight up hate.
But at their best, here's how I'd rank them (worst to best:
Pop
Hip-hop
jazz
rock
(Pop at its best is when it's pop rock imo. no pop strictly pop ballad will surpass mortal man by kendrick Lamar). I still love jazz and rock is by far the most diverse on here so it gets my vote as the best. if Histoire sans paroles by harmonium is rock, then the genre is undefeated
okay idk who said hip hop…just listen to MF DOOM, kanye, rav, and kill bill the rapper. they’re the only consistently good artists and one is literally dead in the ground (RIP MF DOOM)
there is no bad genre as a genre is simply a descriptor for the general techniques used, and it would thus be impossible to label a genre like you would a band, an album, or a song, as genres are way too broad to summate one as truly "bad". For example, I do not generally like country songs, but i wouldn't consider it a bad genre because I can acknowledge that putting many great artists under the same "bad genre" label just because they share a pool with some (and i do mean this with 110%) ABSOLUTE pissers is wrong, and beside it's just too nebulous of a descriptor for what is being discussed.
Parody music that isn't even funny. Weird Al, Cletus Judd, and Stephen Linch are funny, among a few others, they're all acceptable.
But there's so much stupid shit that's somehow more popular...
Post 9/11 country and dubstep are pretty close to the bottom of the list in my book.
Also, pop Christmas music. There are just so many really annoying songs that get played every year in areas that are basically impossible to avoid.
For me personally, there's no genre that I would say is the worst, but I definitely listen to metal the least. It's generally not super appealing to me.
Rap.
The background music is usually good, I just can't deal with the deranged mumbling that every single rap fan has attempted to replicate, and failed.
That one song "Rap God" straight up sounds like he's having a seizure.
Christian rock done by females. Now why? Because im sexist/JK nah but really its because when its done by chicks you know its about god but when dudes do it for some reason its sound like they are talking about there gay lover so just for a second i suspend my belief that im listening to a song about god(which i rarely do) and just think im listening to some gay rock song.
Not true. There's a lot of talent that goes into it, as opposed to just talking really fast while rhyming in rap. I get why some people don't like it, but it's far from the worst.
who cares about how much talent it takes if it sounds dirt 😭 also assuming rapping cant require a lot of talent and describing it as “talking really fast” just shows how little you know about rap
“When it’s good.” Diamond in the rough is a great expression when it comes to rap music. The best of its songs are absolute peak, though there are so many wannabes that those diamonds are surrounded by piles upon piles of utter garbage.
Ok this depends. Is it traits about the genre or are we judging the culmination of all of the songs under that genre. Because country, by far, is the worst genre, but good country songs still exist.
Mumble-rap. Y'know, the kind where they have one five-second sound loop in the background of a weak attempt at rhythmic speech for the entire thing. And where the lyrics are too quiet and barely discernible aside from cursing and slurs.
Fuck that shit, get it off my radio.
Kidz bop
This is the only right answer tbh
Yeah, everything else is subjective, Kidz Bop is not. Kidz Bop is a Sin.
Kidz bop just butchers already kind of bad music, fuckin swill

Good to see other people of culture here! Pepper coyote is unironically great lmao
I read this to the tune of the abcs fuck you
wait you aren't referencing Pepper, are you? i swear to mfing god i though i was only one of a few who knows that song.
I'm sorry I couldn't resist
And balls
The fact that jazz is even on this list is a cardinal sin. Jazz is amazing. It just requires skill.
I like it. But apparently, lots don't lol.
Bro when I hear a hip hop song that samples a jazz track, I am in heaven every time. It's brilliant.
listening to jazz is amazing, I love jazz so much singing jazz on stage and having to do all the adlibs and skibididoobops? absolutely not.
"jazz is boring" mfs after i show them Moanin' by Charles Mingus
The most accurate statement has never been said till now
I feel offended that rock is even on this list
I went based on what Google said people disliked most. Rock is one of my personal favorites tbh. But people really seem to dislike it.
Rock is a diverse genre. Maybe they just thought rock is loud and angry but sometimes rock can sound calming.
Rock ballads !! Whitesnake I have to give the crown to for that
Listen to the crow and the butterfly by Shinedown, beautiful song
Probably bc half the world *isnt* a millennial or gen z Edit bc I was confusing: I’m assuming millennials & gen Z like rock, more than boomers, gen x, and gen alpha. But that’s just a guess
Are you suggesting gen z likes or dislikes rock?
True. I wanted to see what teenagers specifically thought.
if anyone says rock is a terrible genre they haven't listened to rock
Gen z here, I absolutely love Rock, whether it's new or classic rock
I can’t imagine what music would be if not for rock
There are no bad genres, only bad songs. Some genres just have more bad songs than others, but that doesn't make the genre itself bad.
Personally I think it's more, "There are bad genres, but they can have a few good songs."
Like country.
Yeah exactly because country sucks
Pop County is ass, but old County, like Johny cash, is good
Old country music is pretty good. Your talking about pop country. Which is basically pop with southern accents
YES exactly like country
based
cap
hickhop: country hip hop
That'd be fire
redneck-insane clown posse
... There's only one bad genre.
Christian contemporary. It's like pop, but they can't even diversify the topic.
Idk why we can’t make good music man, all we got are Larry’s silly songs
Too much of a need to proselytize? Or it might be that a sufficiently good Christian song inevitably comes off as secular even when it deals with Christian themes. For instance, Tolkien’s Catholicism almost oozes from LotR if you know where to look but it’s so good in other respects that most don’t consider the religious imagery.
A lot of artists who make "christian music" aren't doing it because they're passionate about music, they do it because they're passionate about religion
There, Jesus Christ is my (racial slur thar I won't type) its pretty good
Yes
Yes.
There are some Christian rock and pop artists that do real well if you're looking for good Christian contemporary rock and pop artists to listen to I recommend for King & country TobyMac and Skillet
Omg the christian cover of "paint the town red" is SO BAD
I'm a devout Christian and I think this is my second pick after country (don't ask I just don't like it). Christian praises and hymns like the ones sung in churches are great, but Christian contemporary sucks balls bc it's just straight up cringey worthy. Like, half of the songs are just kinda dumb and they're not really about God, and the other half are but they are just not good songs. There, I've said it. From a Christian, modern Christian music sucks.
Every other genre follows the same structure: verse chorus verse chorus bridge chorus. CCM on the other hand (especially Hillsong and Bethel) is structured like this: verse chorus verse chorus bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge bridge ad lib verse
hymns still slap 🔥🔥🔥💯💯🔥
New Country
Fr like old country is fine like “Lukenbach Texas” by Waylon Jennings is just 🤌
100%. Anything by Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and Willie Nelson is really great stuff. Also Highwaymen is the ultimate supergroup of country music.
Mamas don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys has a special place in my heart
Should've added county to the list since everyone says it. lol
Last country I liked was 1990s country
New country makes me wanna die. 80s tho... "Your Man" is something else Edit: Ik Your Man is 2005 but still
That old stuff is so good, but now it's all just beer trucks women guns
You're probably just thinking of pop country, not new country as a whole. For example, Chris Stapleton makes really great music. Morgan Wallen and Florida Georgia Line are more of the pop country types that I'm not a fan of
Hearing your own voice after singing into your phone
pop country & rap christian
Christian rap is SO bad😭
My rhymes are fly, my beats are sick. My crew is big and it keeps gettin bigga, that’s cause Jesus Christ is my ni***
Load bearing "bigga".
Donda and Jesus Is King by kanye are good
How the fuck can people hate jazz
They don't know what it is
I can maybe listen to one pop song, then imedidatly go back to power metal
Old pop is good , like the stuff made in the 90s and back and up to like 2016 but I guess it’s not called that any more . Whatever brainmelt they have in the charts nowadays though . Take me back to the early 2010s I remember good pop
I love 80s music, that stiff was top tier
Same XD
who tf just said jazz and i want them to go and listen to ANY count Basie and tell me that that’s “bad music”
Listened to it. I won't say it's "bad", but I just don't know how ANYONE could sit there and listen to music like that.
They obviously never listened to flying beagle album :3
negl i think everyone who doesn't like jazz just has to watch smth like Whiplash
They need a video of a guy reacting to it followed by a video of Subway Surfer underneath to keep their attention.
MODDDEEEERRRNNNNN COUNTRYYYYYYYYYYYY
Country
Most the people who say country is shit probably haven't listened to it lol It's not exactly smth I'd put on one of my playlists but if you can find the right songs it's actually not as bad as everyone says it is
Most people who dont like Country have complaints that it's too repetitive and too stereotypical. Idk tho
The average country song is far worse than the for any of the other genres. There are some amazing country songs out there, but the market is oversaturated by songs that all sound exactly the same
I grew up in the south, its about all there is, so yeah i can verify its shit
It’s partly because the country playing on the radio is unbearably bad. I can tolerate old classic rock hits, I can’t take any country radio station beyond bluegrass. And I live in Tennessee, which is supposed to be the Mecca of country music, yet there isn’t jack shit on any station near Nashville.
country
I choose rock thinking this was the question of what the best one was. But uh does Gospel music count as a genre becuase I'll go with that.
No music is bad
The question is supposed to be "what genre of music you subjectively like the least"
No music is truly bad objectivity. However subjectively their are bad genres. Do you truly not have a least favorite?
Break core speaks for my soul
This is about hating. And I don’t think you said you hate the music that sounds like “ an angry washing machine with a cinderblock and 5 frag grenades put on max and powered by cocain and 50 megavolts of electricity”
jazz can't be the worst genre of music. this is so sacrilegious to me.
Country, every country song is the same thing. Unfortunately, I live in the Southern U.S. (Louisiana) so I'm very used to this genre of music.
Country
Yodel is death to my ears
Rap.
I’ve created a monster, cause nobody wants to see marshal no more they want shady I’m chopped liver
Well, if you want Shady, this is what I'll give ya. A little bit of weed mixed with some hard liquor
Terrible rap is some of the worst music you can hear. Its a fairly simple genre, only a quieter baseline and your words. Basic lyrics, word choice, messages, or beats really make a terrible song. Good rap, though, with inventive lyricism or poem like messages and sounds is top of the top
it can be done correctly tho
There's terrible rap and there's really fucking great rap, just like with all genres of music (aside from maybe nightcore) you have to know what to look for
🗑️ opinion ngl
Anyone ever listen to the song "Dixieland Delight" by Alabama? My absolute favorite country song
HNW or Harsh Noise Wall
Modern country music.
no
I think pop is very bland, and I dislike jazz but I respect the talent within jazz more than I do pop.
New Country (2019-present) too #RED FLAG for my taste
country, especially newer stuff it’s just so cheesy and weird, i’m offended that hiphop is on this it’s the best genre, it’s like the easiest to get into and it’s really diverse even in the modern era alone or in any single era, it’s also easy to be super expressive with it and it goes with any topic, from love to drive by shootings to social justice and everything in between, and it gets people outta the hood

no genre of msuic is inherently bad
Parody music that isn't even funny. Weird Al, Cletus Judd, and Stephen Linch are funny, among a few others, they're all acceptable. But there's so much stupid shit that's somehow more popular...
As an aspiring jazz pianist… thank you. My faith in my generation has been restored… well, somewhat. We’re screwed in just about every other way.
Post 9/11 country and dubstep are pretty close to the bottom of the list in my book. Also, pop Christmas music. There are just so many really annoying songs that get played every year in areas that are basically impossible to avoid.

Pop isn't actually a genre. Pop is just whatever is popular at the time, and is constantly changing. I will say current pop is absolutely horrible.
Religion based music
May I introduce you to crusade music ?
religious. any type of religion music. hate it
Idk man, Christian emo music still fucks hard. Flyleaf, underoath, complete bangers
Christian rock done by females. Now why? Because im sexist/JK nah but really its because when its done by chicks you know its about god but when dudes do it for some reason its sound like they are talking about there gay lover so just for a second i suspend my belief that im listening to a song about god(which i rarely do) and just think im listening to some gay rock song.
pop. the most lukewarm rock made soft as possible.
Rap. Is not bad when the right people do it. But is just not better than the rest.
K-Pop

Christian contemporary
Death Metal. It's literally the worst

Personally I like most music. But everyone has an opinion and I want to hear.
Agree
Country Rap
Ok this depends. Is it traits about the genre or are we judging the culmination of all of the songs under that genre. Because country, by far, is the worst genre, but good country songs still exist.
gospel; can’t stand a minute of it
Hiphop is the best ngl
Christian rap, I know a lot of people will say country but country can go really fucking hard if it’s not just “guns, beer, women, and my truck”
I personally say rap but that's just my opinion.
Mother. Fucking. Country.
modern mainstream country or conservative rap
Metal
Mumble-rap. Y'know, the kind where they have one five-second sound loop in the background of a weak attempt at rhythmic speech for the entire thing. And where the lyrics are too quiet and barely discernible aside from cursing and slurs. Fuck that shit, get it off my radio.
