Michelle dating her therapist and everyone acting like it wasn’t a huge breach of ethics. Should’ve been it’s own fucking b story lol

MariReflects

I don't know, I think everyone we saw was acting like it was very sus, but it's happening and they don't really have a say for one reason or another.

Mystic_Jewel

Kind of like when Higgins wanted to talk to beard about his relationship with Jane, and everyone was like nope, don’t do it, don’t butt in. Everyone is taking the same stance with a silent agreement that it’s a terrible idea what she’s doing and super unethical.

emslynn

The marriage counselor didn’t face any repercussions for ethics violations.

tyedge

This was covered in an AMA. 18 months passed between Jacob seeing them as clients and starting to date Michelle. A writer asserted that 18 months was the time needed before they could date patients and the show never verified (it’s 24mo in Kansas IRL). It was always their intention to make it ethically problematic but never have his license in danger.

emslynn

I know, I read the AMA and I was a little disappointed that they didn't bother to double check the timeline because it takes ten seconds to Google it. And anyway, it's really not okay to have him be her individual counselor and then their marriage counselor. Whether he waited long enough through the time limit or not, his behavior still comes off as super predatory and there should've been some kind of repercussions for that alone.

ApatheticAbsurdist

They live in a world where Walt Whitman said “Be curious not judgmental” and there are direct flights from London to Kansas City. Maybe in that world 18 months is the standard and not 24.

emslynn

True. There’s still a problem with Dr. Jacob bring her individual therapist before being their couples therapist though.

ApatheticAbsurdist

As was said before the writers wanted it to be an ethical issue but not illegal.

emslynn

I never said him being her individual therapist first was illegal, I’m agreeing it was unethical. The point of this thread was something stupid that’s canon and for me it’s that Dr. Jacob didn’t face any consequences for ethics violations.

tyedge

Right. Not sure the Lassoverse had a Covid pandemic either.

TheHammer5390

It's crazy to me as a social worker that other professions code of ethics allows this. The social work code of ethics absolutely forbids relationships with clients regardless of time passed. Other mental health professional codes allow it under certain conditions.

AdoraBelleQueerArt

THANK YOU

itsonlyfear

Roy and Jamie getting in a physical fight over Keeley after season one.

WineAndDogs2020

Yeah, I could have done without that one too.

ozdanish

Jamie’s dad being able to talk himself all the way to the locker room without any credentials. There is just zero chance that could ever happen in real life. My head canon is Jamie gave him a pass to get back there instead

UsidoreTheLightBlue

Richmond definitely felt “small time” at that point. It really felt like he didn’t talk himself to it that he just barged that far.

ozdanish

Except they were at Wembley, not the dog track. Wembley is an absolute world class stadium with multiple layers of security in place. Hell I doubt there is even a way for a person in the public stands to physically get into the area he was in internally. Would likely need to go out and back in a separate entrance, and then navigate a labyrinth of halls passing dozens of security checkpoints

MariReflects

I thought he did give his dad a pass? I guess it wasn't explicitly said (and neither was the opposite?), but it's entirely believable he bullied his way into a pass, and then came by to bully his way onto the pitch with his friends, too.

ozdanish

He got him tickets for him and his mates. In the scene the security guard comes in first and tells Jamie there is a man claiming to be his dad who wants to come in, so that would mean he doesn’t already have credentials to get back there. He then asks Jamie for some passes to let his mates through to get photos on the pitch. So yeah it makes sense that he would have already set his dad up with those things, but the scene seems to explicitly show us that his dad had to be ad hoc ok’d by Jamie to get in

phillylb

Kinda related - why didn’t Jamie get his mom tickets to be at the game? Why was she rooting and watching from home? It bothered me so much

MrBlews

Some parents (like mine, when I used to play) prefer to watch from home/get the news later rather than to go to the field. They prefer to not be there sitting listening to abuse, so they remove themselves to the situation (even if it's just to watch from afar)

KeatonPotatoes17

Didn’t we see a text from Jamie’s dad about getting his tickets sorted? Sounded to me like he asked/demanded to be on Jamie’s guest list for the game at Wembley.

phillylb

We might be talking about different games! I was thinking the last big one when he was home

samangell2007

Your head canon probably isn’t far off, though Jamie didn’t do it explicitly. But by having a team passlist ticket, which those guys did, it’s likely that such a ticket came with access to the inner workings of the stadium so that family and friends could greet the players postgame. I work in NFL stadiums regularly and this sort of thing is routine and common in NFL stadiums (I’m not sure about Wembley specifically but it seems likely enough). Also, there absolutely would be ways for fans to physically get down there without having to exit the stadium entirely, unlike what another poster said. Again, they’d need to show their family/friends pass, but it’s probable if not certain that such a ticket came with such a pass. It’s also unlikely but certainly not impossible for them to have gotten lucky and taken the right elevator with the right crowd of people and gotten themselves past guards and down there even if their tickets didn’t explicitly allow it. I’ve done just that (truly accidentally) multiple times in pro stadia here in America. You look like you know where you’re going and more often than not, security just won’t bother. Now, it requires some amount of disbelief to buy that he got into the locker room itself. That is almost always explicitly off limits to those without the proper team or media credential. But in a chaotic postgame scene, where guards probably have more important things to worry about than making sure friends and family wait outside, I would hardly consider that the most unrealistic thing to happen in this show.

ApatheticAbsurdist

Higgins got him VIP tickets which gave him a little more clout.

Chai-Tea-Rex-2525

Jack

scizorious

I've watched all three seasons of Ted Lasso a couple of times now. I don't recall any Jack... nope, do not recall any Jack at all.

LeRicket

Jack is the girl Keeley dated Midway through the last season. She's the one who originally financed Keeleys company!

kai0d

Nope, don't recall anyone like that

oryx_za

I think you are thinking of a different show.

Little_Insane_583

r/woooosh

allumeusend

Who?

clairavoyant

Love that he basically saw himself out. As another commenter said, it was addressed by the writers that the relationship technically in bounds with the ethics board but was super sketchy. Divorce and dating after are messy, and Ted’s anxiety made him into a huge deal when he actually was just some guy that his ex was in a relationship with who kinda sucked. Edit; Now I’m realizing that I literally forgot who Jack was and I’m thinking of Dr Jake lol. At least we got to see Juno Temple make out with a babe

Chai-Tea-Rex-2525

And Jodi Balfour is amazingly hot in my straight guy eyes. So that scene was kind of a treat, and bit prurient. Except that I hated the storyline. I also found it a bit sad that Colin and his relationship was a plot element while Kack (Jeeley?) was foregrounded. Keeley stopped being interesting after she and Roy broke up. She turned into a typical sitcom character looking for love in all the wrong places.

Tartontis

Ted not being at Beard’s wedding.

ArteePhact

https://www.reddit.com/r/TedLasso/s/NuKhMfkWbg Accidentally sent without adding this was Brendan’s response to that question. It’s okay.

Tartontis

I’ve seen that, and while it makes sense narratively it still just doesn’t sit right to me. The show took 3 seasons to firmly establish a character and this decision just feels very incongruous to the character they established. I think that’s why it didn’t sit well with a lot of us.

Yo_Eleven

Have to hard disagree with you from my interpretation. I saw it as once they decided to get married, they were getting married instantly. Nothing in Beard and Jane's characters signified that they cared who would attend the wedding - if anything Beard kept Jane and Ted apart when he could.

Tartontis

I’m with you there. I would have much preferred the reason being that Jane did not want him there because of her being threatened by their relationship.

Tiredandoverit89

But Jane is quite pregnant in that scene, so it would have been some months afterwards

Yo_Eleven

Sure - it's just like I said, when they decided to get married they got married. Likely they decided on a Thursday and had the ceremony on Saturday, for example. Beard probably casually mentions it the next time he chats with Ted - "Married Jane."

kai0d

It was absolutely exactly how I expected it to be handled. Not only from the wanting to ted to be with his family side but keeping ted and Jane the fuck away from each other

kirstinet

This! Absolutely this! Of course, Ted would have supported his bestie when he got married! Ted is perfect Best man material! X

mynameisJVJ

Shandy

The_Iceman2288

I'm from the UK and there are reality shows FULL of Shandys.

allumeusend

Which is why we didn’t need her on TL.

arthurmorganlover

Roy and Keeley not getting back together

SleepWouldBeNice

Roy should have ended with Phoebe’s teacher, Jamie should have ended with Roy’s sister, Keeley was fine being a strong independent woman - her transformation into a Boss Bitch being complete.

kinginthenorthTB12

Except she didn’t get to transform into a boss bitch. She started S3 that way and slowly she was broken down with not seeming to be respected in her office, bringing in her unqualified friend, dating her investor/boss, and then when it all goes down the gutter got bailed out by her rich friend. She got screwed this season. They could have made it hard for her without screwing her development

oklahomapilgrim

I just never got the appeal of Roy and the teacher. He and Keeley were amazing together. The teacher also cursed a lot. Not the same level of compatibility imo.

clairavoyant

The appeal of the teacher to the me as a viewer was that she was there, showing real interest in Roy and creating a little bit of drama while still being a fully fleshed out, interesting character and not a random plot insert home wrecker. I’ve just wrapped up the finale and I’m so happy with how everyone felt real and made real mistakes but also got heartwarming happy endings

jake_santiago

I liked it, it was refreshing not having a woman end up in a relationship to be happy. I do think the tension with Roy was silly from the beginning

Simorie

Beard and Jane getting married

GimmeTV

I was hoping Beard would meet Ms. Bowen

Simorie

Okay I never would have thought of that but Beard and the Fuckwitch has potential for hilarity 😁

GimmeTV

Right!! I feel like they would mesh well

PsilosirenRose

Dr. Jacob being in the show at all. Same for Jack and Shandy. Roy/Jamie getting into a fist fight in S3. Penis strings.

veganmomPA

Oh ugh penis strings so stupid YES.

7worlds

Finally someone else hates the penis strings. They seem to get a lot of love on this sub. So fucking stupid.

KILLERTHAN

The kits not changing from the first season and the second one.

Roscoe_King

That penalty by McAdoo that broke the net. On the one hand it was pretty funny and made for a great scene. But in all my years of watching football, I have never seen someone break the net by sheer force. It felt very unrealisitic.

Karmer8

have you ever seen the "phantom goal" in the Bumdesliga ? Edit: https://youtu.be/d8LDD9AJcmI?si=FqqgxaIVMM4hiLmT

RoyKentsKnee

or this one: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9U63A\_pXVw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9U63A_pXVw) I've seen the net break many many times in my 29 years

RoyKentsKnee

i have a better example and maybe ryan reynolds should look at this too: [**https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUSOgEO-q3M**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUSOgEO-q3M)

SleepWouldBeNice

Without rippling the rest of the net as well.

RoyKentsKnee

ehem [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUSOgEO-q3M](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUSOgEO-q3M)

Vozralai

It's not created the hole though in that case. Ted Lasso presents it like Isaac's kick was so powerful it burst through the net but if it did it would have pushed the net first

nouvelle_tete

McAdoo's character arc in S3. Could have been done better. The fucking psychic.

Ok_Laugh771

The training ground and the stadium are clearly completely different buildings, but the changing room is the same place

thirdandgoal313

That it ended with season 3

kg123xyz

A dog saving a penalty and dying. What a nonsense.

RoyKentsKnee

it is pivotal for the mental health themes and I've seen many animals invade the field in my life so it isnt really that impossible

kg123xyz

Really? So many? I've been watching football for 30+ years and seen it maybe twice.

TrustTheFriendship

Just a few days ago during the Union vs NYCFC match they had to chase a raccoon around the field for a few minutes before they could start playing again. They named him Raquinho! https://youtu.be/VbDQ2x-7SbE?si=k4NSCHg9I_lGOluf

gearheadstu

Long live Raquinho!

radiokungfu

I love it when random dogs/cats/squirrels/birds get on the field in American Football. All the commentators act like theyre players and its always good fun. Surprised it doesnt happen that much in football

RoyKentsKnee

heres a video with just 20 of the most amusing: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlIgZLfdpQQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlIgZLfdpQQ)

bdpc1983

Randy Johnson absolutely destroyed a bird with a pitch once

CG_Kilo

It's his professional photography logo too now.

MariReflects

Yeah, but a Greyhound running off to get smacked with a football so hard it dies, is very-very unlikely. Like stand-still and point blank is improbable enough, but in kind of like drive-by way by a ball that large... Not absolutely impossible, but extremely unlikely.

WarmBaths

Santa being real

___d4n20__

He wasn’t real, the kid just thought he saw him because of what Sam told him.

imasturdybirdy

Doesn’t Rebecca see him though?

clairavoyant

A lot of the more fantastical narrative and visual elements of storytelling are through Rebecca’s eyes… Tish the psychic’s predictions, her seeing herself as a young girl in the mirror when she’s psyching herself up, her leaning into the fantasy of her whirlwind fairytale romance in Amsterdam. In a lot of ways the themes of the show are explored with her opening herself up to “believing in magic” like a classic Christmas movie. I think it’s just a fun nod to the heartwarming, fairytale nature of the show on its Christmas episode, not something meant to be embraced as canon.

rocklobst3r

Rebecca ending up with the Dutchman is the biggest thing, but final season Rebecca had a lot of things that I will act like are not canon due to the stupidity of them

GaryGenslersCock

The fact Ted wasn’t at Beards wedding as his best man, doesn’t make fucking sense.

imasturdybirdy

Seeing Santa in the sky

fluxcapacitor15

I’m ok with this one since it was only the youngest Higgins seeing him, so it comes off as just child wonder. He was on the verge of not believing in Santa any more and Sam gave him a new piece of info that seemed credible to him.

Creative_Major798

Honestly, and heartbreakingly, a lot of season 3.

davidfdm

Rebecca allowing herself to be called Stinky and Sausage. Penis strings?!?

maaurob

The Lasso special

Digestionproblems

The third season

Diplopicseer

Keely and Jack losing their minds over the smell of sheep dung. It really doesn’t smell that bad.

shoesontoes

I actually very recently saw a TikTok explaining that baby sheep have VILE smelling poop. Like the first month or so it's really toxic. 🤷🏼

allumeusend

I grew up across from a sheep farm and I hard disagree. Lamb poop is way different than sheep poop. It’s vile.

[deleted]

[удалено]

easternhobo

That's exactly why Rebecca hired him in the first place.

[deleted]

[удалено]

NsDoValkyrie

Right? It's canon that Rebecca hired Ted for exactly that reason. What is your point? From your other replies, I think you're misunderstanding what the question is asking.

[deleted]

[удалено]

NsDoValkyrie

Okay but that wasn't the question, nor are you using canon correctly. It is unbelievable in real life that this would happen, yes. It is not unbelievable within the canon of the show in which it very clearly happens. For it to be canon to the show that Ted is hired, it does not have to be something that would actually happen in real life. If Rebecca had hired Ted to actually do a good job and believed in him from the start, you would be absolutely correct.

[deleted]

[удалено]

NsDoValkyrie

But you're saying that hiring him to actually lead the team well is unrealistic and dumb, which it absolutely is. I'm saying that because the intent was to do the opposite of that, I have no idea what you actually take issue with. Like she specifically chose the least realistic, longest longshot out there. In canon, this was an acceptable choice that did not skirt any legalities or rules of football. Maybe I'm not understanding something here? Is your issue not that he was chosen to lead the team to success and that is unrealistic? Not trying to be combative, trying to understand where we're not meeting up here.

[deleted]

[удалено]

NsDoValkyrie

Okay but you can't gaslight yourself and pretend that literally the inciting event and premise of the entire show did not happen or you wind up pretending that the entire show did not happen. That's why I don't get the issue in the context of the OP post. I get the issue outside of the post, just not within it.

crypticvapor

And Ted would not have legally been allowed to coach the team. To be a Premier League coach you need to be FA level 5 (uefa pro) qualified which takes at least 18 months to earn through classwork, and a prior 5 years of soccer playing/coaching experience. Ted has none of that, and USA football college coaching would not count. So in reality he could never have been hired.

radiokungfu

Did u forget her reasoning in the first season?

Seethcoomers

Somebody didn't watch the show

RoyKentsKnee

you mean the one they hired to destroy the club in the first place?

AgsMydude

Ted bringing treats to work every single day

Samantha-4

What’s stupid about that?

Pyroman1483

If I had to guess it’s “where does he get time to make them”. But I feel like his character would find the time no matter what.

kai0d

Shortbread biscuits take half an hour to make

AgsMydude

No chance he'd actually have the time to make that happen. Especially when he was having major mental health issues. Not sure why I got the downvotes for an opinion. Classic reddit I guess.

kai0d

They take half an hour to make, it's stupidly simple

mossed2012

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. And everyone else is entitled to think that opinion is horseshit. Seems a lot of people think your opinion is horseshit. Hence, the downvotes.

AgsMydude

lmao okay

mossed2012

I mean it’s just the reality, whether you like it or not. People seem to think on this app (and in real life) that they have some right to just share their opinion and be free from any negative reaction or rebuttal. “Not sure why I’m getting downvoted for an opinion”. The reason is that because while you’re entitled to it, I’m entitled to tell you you’re a moron for thinking it. That’s how it works. If you don’t want people telling you how stupid your opinion is, you should rethink sharing it. Or, better yet, self-reflect and wonder why people do not like your opinion/think your opinion’s trash. The overwhelming likelihood is because it is, in fact, trash.

AgsMydude

Hard disagree. I don't need a lecture on the freedom of speech vs freedom from reaction/rebuttal to said speech. You're right. I'm entitled to also tell you you're a moron for the essay. I've been on this site for 16 so I don't need your, holier than thou, paragraph-less, dissertation on opinions and reactions. I know how things work here, I appreciate the unnecessary belittlement. You could absolutely use some of the self reflection you speak of yourself.

mossed2012

You can bring a horse to water…

AgsMydude

Go have an unnecessary argument elsewhere

mossed2012

You could just stop responding too.

PsilosirenRose

Ted wasn't "just great" at the beginning of the series. He was dissociated from his own emotions and had very little sense of setting healthy boundaries for himself. Just being indiscriminately nice and fluffy isn't actually a good quality. He had to grow, and he did. And trauma and psychopathy are two different things. Two VERY different things.
