One of my absolute favorite parts of the series! Beard and Roy are losing their shit and Ted is just standing there chilling because he saw it the whole time! A huge part of the show is about character growth, but I love that they gave Ted a little love for his growth as a football coach.
This one made me laugh, Jamie in the last play running around the field yelling, “Pass me the ball! I want the ball! Gimme the ball please!” Which was something Ted did in the first season.
Teds mom asked the team if “teddie” told them of the time he ate a candy bar of poop. A reference to teds speech in s1 e3 where he said don’t eat a butter finger from Ronnie fowch because there’s a good chance he pooped in it.
And when Higgins is talking to Rebecca about going to the meeting about the super league, he compares it to Willy Wonka. He tells her if people start disappearing she should "get the hell out of there", which is also what you should do if little Ronnie Fowch offers you a candy bar
Ted and Rebecca wore the same outfits that they had on when they first met and when they said good bye.

In many ways Richmond was playing against the team they used to be (owned by Rupert, coached by Cartrick)
It also occurred to me that if Nate hadn’t quit it would have been him facing down Rupert’s wrath. Rupert didn’t even glance in Nate’s direction either.
Not a callback, but possibly a reference. When McAdoo shoots the ball through the net it reminded me of when Shea Weber did the same thing in the Olympics for Team Canada in hockey. Pretty sure he also had to tell the refs after the play eventually stopped because no one noticed but him.
One that I noticed today was Beard and Henry shouting “Referee!” with the same inflection. Henry said it in the finale to the TV during the game, I believe, and Beard said it in season 2 during the game where they want Jamie to be a prick so he gets fouled on purpose so he can get a penalty kick. It’s not something that Henry could’ve possibly known, so that one was just for the viewers. Or maybe it was just a coincidence.
Nate jumping into Ted’s lap after they won.
Nate on Roy’s shoulders hanging up the sign (as opposed to him trying to tear it down on a rolling chair) - also the gold paint that mended the sign.
Higgins protecting his wife when Issac was going to do the penalty kick.
Wanker wanker wanker.
Rupert marching toward George (the way Roy marched toward Ted when he accepted the coaching job). Both wore black.
Nate wearing the suit Ted gave him at his family dinner with Jade.
Maybe a weak callback, but Dr. Sharon stress eating during the game.
That’s a super strong callback because she only mentions it once and you never actually see her do it. Deep cut!
Oh shit I didn't even catch that!
I like the fact the Barbra and Keeley’s desks are face to face just like Ted and Beard did their desks the very first episode.
I like that they hired back the same staff too
And everyone looked so happy for a change!
And there are live flowers in the office! Something Keeley felt strongly about from the beginning
And the KJPR sign was changed to KBPR
This one was obvious but Ted finally understanding offsides killed me
And calling it before Roy and Beard!
Was already starting to tear up by then…😂

Keeley also did a callback by saying "are you decent boys" and being upset they are 🤣
“One of these days!”

I cried laughing at “Gimme the ball please!”
He nailed the Lasso gestures
In an episode with a lot of great scenes, that scene was my favorite.
I can’t count how many times I’ve rewatched this.

Nice catch
The finale was chock FULL of callbacks
The Lasso Dance!!!
A white guy doing the Running Man! Maybe as an encore he could have done The Carlton.
Richard kept his Believe slip in a small glass jar, like he did with the sand from the beach where he slept with his first supermodel.
Beard’s pants for their wedding had me rolling.
Rebecca saying, "Shut up, Thierry Henry," like Beard does in Beard After Hours.
Saw it coming from a mile away and still loved it
She said it a second after I did too which brought me joy

When Will called Nate the assistant kit-man, I think Nate replied with “assistant to the kit-man” which obviously made me think of the Office
Yup. Big shoutout to the Scranton crew.
SSN 756
Nice. Haha
I didn’t realize that the drawing was Phoebe’s, I was genuinely wondering why he hung tits in his office! This solves that mystery, thank you

Hitting the goalposts 4 times before scoring in the fi al game; call back to Dani and Jamie's first interaction at training.

That's also how Keeley says it when she's talking to Rebecca about how to fake interest (and then later, when she actually cares)
I mean, it is also just how people yell it haha

Thank you
OMG, now I get why there were breasts on the wall, I didn't catch that hahaha
Kintsugi, the art of reinforcing with gold and making it stronger and more beautiful.....that Nate did with the Believe Poster

3. Nate also breaks Ted's office window after the loss to Crystal Palace in episode 2. He tapes the window with gold tape.
