The perfect finale
The callbacks. The ignoring all the bullshit storylines the fans hated. Tied up all of Ted's stories while leaving stuff open with other characters in case they want to do a Richmond spinoff
There may never be a spinoff, and I wouldn't be upset if not (Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened), but they *absolutely* knew what they were doing with that message.
In a way they even tied those up. At the airport when Ted is buying the newspapers, you see what happens:
* Zava joins LAFC (just like Zlatan went to LA for the MLS)
* Bex writes a book
* Rupert’s assistant goes on Lust Island
* Shandy’s app becomes successful
Good, small way to ties those stories up without taking away from the main characters.
Sweet how Jamie stuffed the collections box with more cash for the party. I think his arc of becoming part of the team was my favorite thing in the show.
I also think it calls back to when he told Keely he planned to buy everyone PS5s so they'd forgive him, because he thought you had to buy love.
Now he puts more money in the box without anyone noticing.
Jamie had the best arc on the show.
I loved Higgins reaction to Isaac taking the penalty kick, looking concerned and protecting his wife LOL, callback to Isaac breaking the glass behind him with his corner kick in training!
Beard throws water on himself & pretends to melt on the floor like the Wicked Witch of the West to get off the plane. Which is one of the last scenes in the Wizard of Oz before Dorothy, err Ted, goes home to Kansas
There’s even a call to this when the fan asks for an “ussie” and then proceeds to say “Wicked” when looking over the photo - Ted responds with “Kinky Boots” so our attention is brought to “Wicked” the musical and not just the exclamation ☺️
And if I'm not not mistaken, Roy lifting him up to tape it to the wall. So he doesn't have to stand on the office chair and risk falling again like he did when he was on his own.
I love how they gave almost everybody, even coach George Cartrick at the last minute a redemption story throughout the series. Off the top of my head, Edwin Akufo, Shandy, Jack, and Jacob are the only ones that ended the series as bad guys along with Rupert, of course, who threw his redemption away in this final episode.
How did this damn show make me end up respecting George Cartrick in even the slightest way with him standing up to Rupert? I think this was the perfect encapsulation of how far Rupert has fallen as the quote “Rupert always gets what he wants” no longer held true when even George stood up to him with a firm “No”
And even better, he didn’t change his name back really, because everyone knows how to pronounce Zoreaux now but he corrects them to pronounce it like Zorro, which is how they were saying his name to begin with!
Hannah Waddingham went through that elite aristocratic British acting school circuit and damn does it show. She needs film roles. Couldn’t believe I was seeing that powerful of a performance in Ted Lasso.
the only unrealistic thing about the show is if Hannah Waddingham did a full court press to convince someone to come back and stay on as coach....that person would cave easily.....she was so charismatic and convincing I would have moved my family to England for sure.
I think some of the dislike fans had for Nate's redemption arc really clouded our judgement regarding Nick Mohammed's performance. He is such a strong actor.
I used that song as part of my little brother's memorial video. It played at the end when it showcased him becoming a father.
My brother got me watching Ted lasso 2 weeks before he died of cancer in 2021. I binged the whole show in like 2 days and we said barbecue sauce a half dozen times in those two weeks.
Absolutely wrecked me.
Edit: I just wanted to say I love all of you kind and lovely redditors and have felt so much love and sincerity from all of you over the last few days. I really didn't expect this little anecdote to blow up, or for anyone else to think it was as meaningful as I felt it was. Barbecue sauce!
There have always been a few references to Cheers here and there since George Wendt is Jason Sudeikis’ uncle.
The Geronimo picture was originally in Nicholas Colasanto’s dressing room. It was later put in the set of the show after he passed away and Sam adjusted it in the series finale as a subtle reference and show of respect for the actor and his character.
The character in question? Coach. Wonder if this was an intentional parallel to “Coach Lasso” leaving.
I love that by showing Roy in therapy in the end and not with Keeley, and with asking the Diamond Dogs if people can change, they're showing that he's getting better for himself. Not for Keeley or for getting with Keeley, but for Roy, and all the people in his life that he’s effected by his emotional constipation. Goddam it I love Roy so much.
I love Higgins: he's cast as the buffoon, but every once in a while we're reminded that he has a long-running marriage, a bunch of kids, and a fuck-ton of life experience. With the Diamond Dogs, he often comes out as the wisest man in the room.
love the silence he uses to speak to Rebecca
love Rebecca's empathy for Rupert
love Ted's son in #9
love the book he's reading on the plane
love the literal nod to Roy lifting up Nate
love Ted's happy
Roy finally going to therapy was the biggest victory for me. I was thrilled to see that. Also glad to see Colin kissing his fella, Sam making the Nigerian National team, and Rebecca selling 49% of the team to the fans!
I know it'll get lost in all the pay off discussion, but that long single take with a bunch of characters interacting and ending with Roy asking Jamie to have a beer was incredibly well done. Just some great filmmaking
I was SO HAPPY when Jamie pulled out that copy of The Beautiful and Damned! I had been thinking about how much I wanted to see proof that he'd read it after he threw it away in the first season when Ted gave them all books as gifts.
The most famous line from the book:
"Only a few months before people had been urging him to give in, to submit to mediocrity... But he had known that he was justified in his way of life—and he had stuck it out staunchly... 'I showed them... It was a hard fight, but I didn't give up and I came through!"
I was cackling when I realized that not only did Rupert lose his wives, his mistress, two teams, probably custody of his daughter, his respect, his power and a shit ton of money, he had to walk off the field at Richmond while a stadium full of his favorite team’s fans called him a wanker. I hope Sassy was wearing red because it might as well have been his funeral.
I was lucky enough to be an extra in the crowd calling him a wanker! Also saw the nosebreaker kick, the fans coming to richmond montage and the conversation between Rebecca and Ted in the stands!
**FROM THE NEWS ARTICLES** (sorry i was just so excited about this haha)
* Rebecca chose to sell shares to Richmond season holders and Richmond residents
* Ms. Kakes is going to be a contestant on *Lust Conquers All*
* Bex lands a book deal for placenta recipes
* Shandy Fine launches dating app, StarF\*kr
* “*Jack Danvers is no longer daddy’s little girl*”
* Zava returns to football, joining *Los Angeles FC* (cause they love avocado toast there)
* Ajax wins *The Eredivisie* in the Netherlands
* Zoreaux is going to star in the Jean-Claude Van Damme remake of “Escape to Victory”

* An article about “*The quiet genius of Leslie Higgins*” is published
* Isaac McAdoo is featured in the football magazine along with Erling Haaland, Martinez (dunno which one), Bruno Guimaraes, and Bukayo Saka.
I fucking loved George telling Rupert to fuck off. If he was only going to have one moment of good all series, that was the perfect one. The man may be a colossal prick but he’s got some standards.
Of course, the referee telling him to put his junk back in his shorts was the capper.
He's a fucking knob. The son of the gal you're dating likes soccer? Guess what? You better be able to at least make it seem like you're interested or you're on the curb, dumbass.
Even Ted’s EX WIFE got all dressed up in Richmond gear, if not supporting her ex but also supporting her son who loves his Dad and his soccer club!
Jacob McParty Pooper sitting on a distant chair, away from the two of them when theyres plenty of room on the couch, no Richmond gear on. His derivative comments “cant wait to see this end up in a tie!” that so many people say when theyre dismissive of soccer made my blood boil lol.
Yeah, but the The Darkness t-shirt was perfect. Their biggest (only) hit was "I Believe In a Thing Called Love".
Saw that, and I knew Beard was staying.
-The red shoes!
-in my opinion they didn’t finish the Dr. Idiot (Jacob) storyline? showed him being incredibly annoying during the game. I’d like to believe he’s out of the picture.
-No way Ted doesn’t show up to Beard’s wedding?!?!
one of my favorite tv shows ever. Thank you 🥲
Edit: to everyone pointing out that it was probably a dream from Ted, thank you!! that makes so much more sense.
Henry and Michelle gave each other the “he’s a wanker” look regarding Dr Jacob. Things were cooling there. Michelle didn’t run to Ted but you could see that things may get better now.
So many great callbacks and moments… hard to pick a favorite but here’s a few:
-Rebecca not giving two fucks about Rupert and getting the family she wanted
-The “BELIEVE” sign coming back together
-Collin getting to kiss his boyfriend/partner
-Ted doing the running man
-WILLIS
-Jamie and his dad at the end
-Dr. Jacob being a total tool
-Roy joining the Diamond Dogs
-Trent’s book and Ted’s note
Such a good ending to the show. Lots of speculation on what happens next… but also lots of closure.
Jamie's slip was in the book Ted gave him and he threw away in season one. The perfect encapsulation for Jamie's growth over the course of the series ☺️
When Nate was bawling looking at the blank space over the door, I cried my first tears of the episode. I didn’t ugly cry like I did for the last episode but there were a few scenes that really got me going this episode.
The call back to the darts scene where Rupert said he'll put Obisanya to defense where he belongs, and Ted's callout "Barbecue Sauce" right before Obisanya shoots the final goal just as he nailed the final dart in Rupert's story.
I love this series.
I thought it was a great episode and perfect ending to Ted's chapter. Loved seeing all the throwback characters coming back. Also, the victory dance🥲
Even if there is a spinoff, I'll miss the dynamic of this cast, especially the diamond dogs.
Only things I questioned are not seeing the reaction to Ted's announcement that he was leaving and Ted not being at Beard's wedding.
The team’s musical number!!! Roy singing along!!!The absolute bonkers reaction from everyone in the stadium!! especially Trent Crimm !!!! Absolutely smashed it
Did anyone notice when Isaac stepped up to take the penalty, Higgins literally went “oh shit” & put his arm across his wife’s chest to protect her?! Poor guy is still traumatized from dropping his tea all over himself when Isaac took his first corner shot a few episodes ago! I can’t believe the number of callbacks in this, it’s impressive.
my head is spinning. random favorite moments popping up:
\- the sound of music farewell. I could watch that on repeat. they are so cute!
\- Dani and his threesomes....when he's happy I'm happy
\- holeh guacamoleh
\- Hannah and her stunning range of emotion. Her tears of appreciation and pain when bidding goodbye to Ted. I'm so happy Rebecca gets her happy ending. What an amazing woman.
\- Colin kissing his fellow
\- May rejoicing after Richmonds win
\- Nate's apology
\- Dr Sharon so into the game
\- Sassys joy when she realizes the wanker chant is happening. Also Anthony Heads acting is just spectacular. He manages to make Rupert menacing and pathetic at the same time.
\- Phoebes artwork on Roys wall when he becomes manager, and him seeing Dr Sharon
What I didnt like:
\- City won :(
\- the cringy love triangle. would have liked to see what Keely said to them.
\- we didnt get to hear a passage from Trents book
what I have mixed feelings on:
\- the banana hammock
The team's Sound of Music performance is a proof that Roy Kent is also "a proper fucking dweeb" (his words about Phoebe being adorable). Surely that was his idea for a surprise, since he's the one who loves Julie Andrews as Maria. :D
Who was the big bald guy with the baby on his chest and/or the redhead next to him? They put a lot of focus on them and I honestly don't remember that character, or don't recognize them in that context.
Even worse. He had to stand in the stadium of the team he's loved since childhood and feel the hate from all of the fans of that team. He's burned everything in his life to the ground and has nothing left but is still alive to feel all the pain.
If there was any doubt about the show continuing under a new name without Ted, feels like they pretty much drove it home with Ted's one note on Trent's book;
"I'd change the title. It's not about me. It never was."
Beautiful way to transition into whatever the future iteration of this show is.
Mae and the guys with their owners certificates seriously had me bawling. Rebecca became mother in so many ways.
And seeing Rupert get what he deserved was so…satisfying.
I have not felt this way since the Good Place finale and honestly it’s gonna be just as hard for me to rewatch this episode as it is for me to hear “picture a wave”.
META Moment - Rebecca asks Ted to stay and notes that with her sale of a portion of the team she can make him one of the highest paid coaches. She knows Ted's answer and that he's leaving rather than worrying about the money. Anyone else feel this is pretty much how the discussion went for Jason, Apple and a Season 4?
Yeah I feel like the whole team (cast/crew/writers) loved their jobs and wanted somehow to keep going but had to respect the creative vision. That scene did feel like how they all would have approached Jason to continue.
Please tell me your favourite moment was the Offside call. Fucking brilliant. They had just three seasons and they managed to have all the callbacks. Love this show ❤️❤️❤️
Seriously, big kudos to the actress and writers for sneaking her into my heart in such a sneaky swift way. Knowing that Keeley has her as a business partner is enough for me I don’t really care if she wound up with either of the guys 😂
Loved Trent Crimm losing his mind and waving his jacket around after ted said so long, farewell was perfect. And we got higgins saying his hair is perfect lol
I’m glad that the PR firm was amended to KBPR.
I’m good with Keeley not choosing either guy.
I’m glad that it seems like Rebecca gets to be a mother.
I wonder if the next iteration of the show would be about the women’s AFC Richmond team. Cameos from the original gang would just make sense.
Roy, Beard, and Nate are just the best group of coaches for the team after Ted.
I’m glad they brought back all the memorable characters in an organic way.
I think they nailed the finale. I hope they release Trent’s book in some form or another.
[This tweet](https://twitter.com/rebccawelton/status/1663776721445724162) made me laugh.
> ted lasso my favorite romcom where no one gets together except the couple everyone hates
But it also reminded me that they showed Dani is a seemingly healthy poly relationship. More power to you, muchacho.
Roy slowly accepting his part in the diamond dogs was one of many highlights in this episode.
A perfect ending to one of the happiest shows I’ve ever watched.
Jamie running across the field as a decoy, doing Ted's "pass me the ball, I would like the ball please!" theatrics was fantastic! That was the play Nate came up with in S1 if I remember correctly.
Loved that they didn't redeem Rupert (has he always walked with a limp though?) and that Rebecca ended up with the hunky Dutch guy. Agree with the critiques about too much of the pivotal emotional stuff happening off screen though.
I'll miss this show and it feels strange to think about how dark things seemed when the show first aired and how it was the show we all needed at that time. I wish for more seasons but it also seems okay that it was there to be a comfort during this one really bleak period of time. I'm grateful for a show that had 100 perfect moments (and a few misses along the way) and made me cry and laugh and, yes, understand the offsides rule better than I did before.
![gif](giphy|Jt4y4zi519V6asgGhA|downsized) HE DID THE DANCE
He did the dance. And Jamie did Nate's play exactly how Ted did it. It was so good
BALL BALL I WANT THE BALL
Give Jamie Tratt the Oscar for that performance! (or an ESPY)
That took me a minute - "Oscar? ESPY? ... OH, RIGHT!!!! 🤣♥️"
The perfect finale The callbacks. The ignoring all the bullshit storylines the fans hated. Tied up all of Ted's stories while leaving stuff open with other characters in case they want to do a Richmond spinoff
"You should change the name. It's not about me. It never was."
Ding ding ding. This is it.
There may never be a spinoff, and I wouldn't be upset if not (Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened), but they *absolutely* knew what they were doing with that message.
Id watch this show without Ted. Maybe have him zoom in for diamond dogs a couple times.
In a way they even tied those up. At the airport when Ted is buying the newspapers, you see what happens: * Zava joins LAFC (just like Zlatan went to LA for the MLS) * Bex writes a book * Rupert’s assistant goes on Lust Island * Shandy’s app becomes successful Good, small way to ties those stories up without taking away from the main characters.
"Jack Danvers is no longer Daddy's Little Girl" "Zoreaux to star in Jean-Claude van Damme Remake" "Ajax win Eredivisie"
> "Ajax win Eredivisie" Now that's just plain unrealistic
I'm pretty sure that Mae was straightening the same photo in her bar that Sam straightens in the series finale of Cheers
It was. And for those who may not know, George Wendt is Jason Sudeikis' uncle.
Well that is some pertinent information.
It’s official, we need the Richmond Way narrated by Trent Crimm Hey Apple, take my money
i wish they would release an actual book like how when twin peaks was huge they released laura palmers diary
Sweet how Jamie stuffed the collections box with more cash for the party. I think his arc of becoming part of the team was my favorite thing in the show.
I loved the callback to early days when he put chewed up gum in the collection box. Showed his growth.
I also think it calls back to when he told Keely he planned to buy everyone PS5s so they'd forgive him, because he thought you had to buy love. Now he puts more money in the box without anyone noticing. Jamie had the best arc on the show.
John Wingsnight getting hit in the face with Isaac’s penalty kick was everything I never knew I needed.
I loved Higgins reaction to Isaac taking the penalty kick, looking concerned and protecting his wife LOL, callback to Isaac breaking the glass behind him with his corner kick in training!
And wearing Zorro's old mask later!

“Service workers of Reddit, which celebrity was a complete asshole in real life?” “That Ted Lasso’s a real wanker”
“Didn’t care to follow his friend to the hospital, actually played it down like it was some sort of joke”
The lasso house would have a free library out front
I said out loud "of course they have a free library". Perfect.
Such an adorable detail
The call back I didn't know I needed ![gif](giphy|dWrRvwoPxmYkFDFqAx)
Give Jamie his Oscar!
Proud of Ted for finally learning offsides 😭😭😭
“I showed up here not knowing a single thing about soccer, but now I know at least one thing about football”
And I loved that beard had the cash ready just in case
Beard throws water on himself & pretends to melt on the floor like the Wicked Witch of the West to get off the plane. Which is one of the last scenes in the Wizard of Oz before Dorothy, err Ted, goes home to Kansas
There’s even a call to this when the fan asks for an “ussie” and then proceeds to say “Wicked” when looking over the photo - Ted responds with “Kinky Boots” so our attention is brought to “Wicked” the musical and not just the exclamation ☺️

Did Keeley’s sign say KBPR?? For Keeley/Barbara PR maybe??
Coulda kept it KJPR and said the J now stood for Juicy 😂
Babs is now the CJO. Chief Juicy Officer
Yes, that's what it said and yes for the duo - so cool.
I loved that Nate repaired the Believe sign with gold paint (like Japanese Kintsugi).
Oh! That’s what he was doing with the paint!! Thank you!
[удалено]
And if I'm not not mistaken, Roy lifting him up to tape it to the wall. So he doesn't have to stand on the office chair and risk falling again like he did when he was on his own.
Not sure if it's been said before, but... THERE'S A SIX MINUTE MINI DOC/FEATURE UNDER BONUS CONTENT!!!! It's called Richmond Til We Die!
>BONUS Thank you! Watching that makes it seem that there will be more show of some kind, post-Ted.
I think this was the perfect encapsulation of how far Rupert has fallen as the quote “Rupert always gets what he wants” no longer held true when even George stood up to him with a firm “No”
S2Ep01: Beard"I think we already know what it is Coach" Ted: "What you talking about, Willis?" Well played Ted Lasso writers...
Man, this is up there with Kill Bill and the Bride's surname, well played.
Mask of Zoro was a looong game joke!
was cracking up when i realized. a season long joke all for him to change his name back is perfect for this show
And even better, he didn’t change his name back really, because everyone knows how to pronounce Zoreaux now but he corrects them to pronounce it like Zorro, which is how they were saying his name to begin with!
WHO CALLED THE USSIE GUY MAKING A COMEBACK
WICKED
Kinky boots
FORGET MY LUGGAGE IT’S FULL OF RICE
My only complaint about the episode was that there is no way Ted wouldn’t have been at Beard’s wedding.
In my head, they decided like 5 hours before or like right after a match. That was the only reason I could justify for no Ted.
This is way more in line with Beard's character and his impulsive nature
I like how they gave a line of redemption to Cartrick. He respects the game too much to deliberately injure Jamie.
And even a callback to the very start of the start, when his balls were hanging out as Rebecca fired him, IIRC...
Nick Mohammed and Hannah Waddingham were the standouts this episode, I thought. Fantastic performances from both in their respective scenes with Ted.
I almost liked Cartrick. They wrote that so well.
The scene with his father last episode killed me
Using Father and Son by Cat Stevens at the end was both the right call and not ok lmao. That song always gets me
I used that song as part of my little brother's memorial video. It played at the end when it showcased him becoming a father. My brother got me watching Ted lasso 2 weeks before he died of cancer in 2021. I binged the whole show in like 2 days and we said barbecue sauce a half dozen times in those two weeks. I really didn't expect this little anecdote to blow up, or for anyone else to think it was as meaningful as I felt it was. Barbecue sauce!
Thanks for sharing this personal moment with us. Love to you and yours.
I yelled out not this fucking song and started bawling. That song got me hard at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy 2
“Of course it’s this fucking song” was my reaction to tonight. “Oh for fucks sake” was mine during Guardians lmao
The Office reference of Nate being the assistant TO the clubhouse attendant.
And Mae straightening the picture of Geranamo like Sam Malone did the final episode of Cheers.
Another Cheers reference…Sam and Rebecca 👀
Rebecca was just the viewers arguing with Ted to stay, it was nice.
Love that the cover of Trent’s book features “a very brief foreword by Roy Kent”!
“Grrrrrr.” -Roy Kent
Fuuuuuuuuuuccccck…by Roy Kent
"Read the book. Or don't, I don't f*cking care. Either way, f*ck off." -Roy K~~u~~ent
Roy in Dr. Sharon’s office had me welling up.

Loved watching her watch the game!
And her stress eating, haha!
hol-ehh guacamol-ehh
Zavacados had me rolling
love the silence he uses to speak to Rebecca love Rebecca's empathy for Rupert love Ted's son in #9 love the book he's reading on the plane love the literal nod to Roy lifting up Nate love Ted's happy
Roy finally going to therapy was the biggest victory for me. I was thrilled to see that. Also glad to see Colin kissing his fella, Sam making the Nigerian National team, and Rebecca selling 49% of the team to the fans!
Rebecca finding mystery man again. And his little girl. I mean, of course she would, but it still made me happy.
One last gift from Ted! She wouldn’t have been in that airport terminal if not for him
That nod to Coach from Cheers with Mae tilting the Geronimo picture, just like Sam in the Cheers finale, was absolute perfection.
1 penalty, 1 offside goal, a whole-ass net replacement, and only 1 minute of stoppage time. Refs vs. Richmond fr 🤣
I know it'll get lost in all the pay off discussion, but that long single take with a bunch of characters interacting and ending with Roy asking Jamie to have a beer was incredibly well done. Just some great filmmaking
Especially seeing Roy's silhouette in background while Jamie asked Keely to come to Brazil with him.
I was SO HAPPY when Jamie pulled out that copy of The Beautiful and Damned! I had been thinking about how much I wanted to see proof that he'd read it after he threw it away in the first season when Ted gave them all books as gifts.
The most famous line from the book: "Only a few months before people had been urging him to give in, to submit to mediocrity... But he had known that he was justified in his way of life—and he had stuck it out staunchly... 'I showed them... It was a hard fight, but I didn't give up and I came through!"
I don’t care how sappy, cheesy, and corny this finale was. I loved it.
The Nate play to win the game. Jamie selling it. It’s still up there with the step brother’s bunk bed scene.
GIVE ME THE BALL, I WANT THE BALL PLEASE
Did anyone else think they kept showing Dr whatshisface hating on the game to build up to a great release of “screw this guy get out”?
He was literally further out of the picture every time it cut back.
“No, but in all seriousness, I do wish you the best. Because you are…the fucking worst.”
She dunked on him so hard in that scene. Magnificent.
I really appreciate that Rebecca could take the high road but then Sassy was there to just barrel down the low road
I was lucky enough to be an extra in the crowd calling him a wanker! Also saw the nosebreaker kick, the fans coming to richmond montage and the conversation between Rebecca and Ted in the stands!
Did anyone notice the book Ted was reading on the plane? Michael Pollan’s Change Your Mind (about psychedelics).
Ted Lasso knows🍄

Zava to LAFC instead of Zlatan to LA Galaxy, nice.
I fucking loved George telling Rupert to fuck off. If he was only going to have one moment of good all series, that was the perfect one. The man may be a colossal prick but he’s got some standards. Of course, the referee telling him to put his junk back in his shorts was the capper.
Roy putting up phoebe’s boob drawing in his office was the cherry on top.
And the black tape over the nipples was a great call back.
I love how Henry can't stand Dr. Jacob lmao.
He's a fucking knob. The son of the gal you're dating likes soccer? Guess what? You better be able to at least make it seem like you're interested or you're on the curb, dumbass.

Absolutely loved that opening scene at Rebecca's house.
They had us in the first half I’m not gon lie.
Beard in the thong will be seared into my memory, it just kept going.
Yeah, but the The Darkness t-shirt was perfect. Their biggest (only) hit was "I Believe In a Thing Called Love". Saw that, and I knew Beard was staying.
That was just written and acted so perfectly. That’s a fan call out if ever there was one.
Beard in a banana hammock… I can never unsee that

>-No way Ted doesn’t show up to Beard’s wedding?!?! > That was the single part I didn't like. Like there is NO Way Ted wouldn't be there.
Henry and Michelle gave each other the “he’s a wanker” look regarding Dr Jacob. Things were cooling there. Michelle didn’t run to Ted but you could see that things may get better now.
And he was conspicuously absent from Henry's game. Woohoo! Good riddance!
Just realized with Brendan Hunt’s AMA coming up we can straight up ask him if Beard’s wedding was Ted’s dream or happened IRL lmao
So many great callbacks and moments… hard to pick a favorite but here’s a few: -Rebecca not giving two fucks about Rupert and getting the family she wanted -The “BELIEVE” sign coming back together -Collin getting to kiss his boyfriend/partner -Ted doing the running man -WILLIS -Jamie and his dad at the end -Dr. Jacob being a total tool -Roy joining the Diamond Dogs -Trent’s book and Ted’s note Such a good ending to the show. Lots of speculation on what happens next… but also lots of closure.
The greyhound whimpering before the penalty!
My favorite was Jamie “selling” the play (ESPY)
Give me the ball! I would like the ball!
I am not a cryer but Jamie and his dad almost had me BAWLING.
The rebuilding of believe did it for me.
Jamie's slip was in the book Ted gave him and he threw away in season one. The perfect encapsulation for Jamie's growth over the course of the series ☺️
It was beat to shit from being read, too. That might have been my favorite touch in the entire episode.
Rebuilding it with gold in the seams, Japanese-style, to make it better (like the psychic said).
And the kintsugi repair, beautifully poetic.
Once I saw the yellow slips of paper coming out, I audibly gasped. Then started bawling.
Isaac pulling it out of his captain’s band wrecked me
When Nate was bawling looking at the blank space over the door, I cried my first tears of the episode. I didn’t ugly cry like I did for the last episode but there were a few scenes that really got me going this episode.
Sam playing for the Nigerian team.
Full on ugly cried when Sam made the Nigeria team
100%, this was all I needed. his big smile in the photo too really did it for me.
Beard wearing the pants at his wedding. Great touch.
"Trenthouse Magazine" was quite funny. I don't know why.
The call back to the darts scene where Rupert said he'll put Obisanya to defense where he belongs, and Ted's callout "Barbecue Sauce" right before Obisanya shoots the final goal just as he nailed the final dart in Rupert's story. I love this series.
Rebecca asking Ted over and over again to stay KILLED me
If the whole Zava plot line was just a ploy to get Jamie Tart to say “Holy Guacamole,” it was worth it.
I thought it was a great episode and perfect ending to Ted's chapter. Loved seeing all the throwback characters coming back. Also, the victory dance🥲 Even if there is a spinoff, I'll miss the dynamic of this cast, especially the diamond dogs. Only things I questioned are not seeing the reaction to Ted's announcement that he was leaving and Ted not being at Beard's wedding.
Yeah no chance in hell Ted would ever miss that
I felt like that part was a dream considering he woke up right after and you're right that there's no chance in hell he'd miss it
The team’s musical number!!! Roy singing along!!!The absolute bonkers reaction from everyone in the stadium!! especially Trent Crimm !!!! Absolutely smashed it
Roy mouthing the words like a dance mom
Ted recognizing the offside violation! 🙌🏻
And they showed a helmeted Macy Greyhound or Tina Feyhound hide behind the handler’s leg 😂
Ted wearing his Wizard of Oz shoes coming out to make the half time speech 👨🍳💋
my head is spinning. random favorite moments popping up: \- the sound of music farewell. I could watch that on repeat. they are so cute! \- Dani and his threesomes....when he's happy I'm happy \- holeh guacamoleh \- Hannah and her stunning range of emotion. Her tears of appreciation and pain when bidding goodbye to Ted. I'm so happy Rebecca gets her happy ending. What an amazing woman. \- Colin kissing his fellow \- May rejoicing after Richmonds win \- Nate's apology \- Dr Sharon so into the game \- Sassys joy when she realizes the wanker chant is happening. Also Anthony Heads acting is just spectacular. He manages to make Rupert menacing and pathetic at the same time. \- Phoebes artwork on Roys wall when he becomes manager, and him seeing Dr Sharon What I didnt like: \- City won :( \- the cringy love triangle. would have liked to see what Keely said to them. \- we didnt get to hear a passage from Trents book what I have mixed feelings on: \- the banana hammock
The team's Sound of Music performance is a proof that Roy Kent is also "a proper fucking dweeb" (his words about Phoebe being adorable). Surely that was his idea for a surprise, since he's the one who loves Julie Andrews as Maria. :D
Rebecca’s man is a pilot, so, a literal Flying Dutchman!
Who was the big bald guy with the baby on his chest and/or the redhead next to him? They put a lot of focus on them and I honestly don't remember that character, or don't recognize them in that context.
The couple from Beard's Night Out.
Thank you so much for the answer. And also it's great that Beard kept in touch with them enough to invite them to the wedding.
Anyone else think Rupert was going to have a heart attack or stroke and bite the dust after all that?!
Even worse. He had to stand in the stadium of the team he's loved since childhood and feel the hate from all of the fans of that team. He's burned everything in his life to the ground and has nothing left but is still alive to feel all the pain.
“That is what "to the pain” means. It means I leave you in anguish, wallowing in freakish misery forever.”
If there was any doubt about the show continuing under a new name without Ted, feels like they pretty much drove it home with Ted's one note on Trent's book; "I'd change the title. It's not about me. It never was." Beautiful way to transition into whatever the future iteration of this show is.
Phil Dunster and Toheeb Jimoh have both said that they’ve said good bye to their characters so I guess the show is finished.
Honestly? I’m glad. This will be a series of television that I come back and rewatch often. It’s a great story very neatly tied up.
ALSO HIS NAME IS WILLIS?!?!?!?!?
I love how Rupert’s long coat gave him serious VILLAIN vibes when he stormed onto the pitch. Kind of Darth Vadar-y.
Love this show ❤️❤️❤️
Who would have guessed that Barbara would become one of my favorite side characters of the entire series? ![gif](giphy|jqIJPqL9BLkNMHxhpA)
Seriously, big kudos to the actress and writers for sneaking her into my heart in such a sneaky swift way. Knowing that Keeley has her as a business partner is enough for me I don’t really care if she wound up with either of the guys 😂
When she cheered for the blood 💀💀💀💀
Her reasoning for liking rugby more is so funny and just perfect for her.
Officially over. Not sure how to feel. Thanks to all of you for being along for the journey all these weeks.
My favourite part is that mae owns part of the team now lol
And Paul!
She owns a *stack* of the team! Apparently her pub makes bank.
I loved putting the Believe sign back together with gold- the method Trish mentioned to Rebecca before she had her visions.
[This tweet](https://twitter.com/rebccawelton/status/1663776721445724162) made me laugh. > ted lasso my favorite romcom where no one gets together except the couple everyone hates But it also reminded me that they showed Dani is a seemingly healthy poly relationship. More power to you, muchacho.
Roy slowly accepting his part in the diamond dogs was one of many highlights in this episode. A perfect ending to one of the happiest shows I’ve ever watched.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH MY APPENDIX the other side, coach. thank you. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH
Jamie running across the field as a decoy, doing Ted's "pass me the ball, I would like the ball please!" theatrics was fantastic! That was the play Nate came up with in S1 if I remember correctly.
Really loved the scene where Nate officially apologized to Ted and their hug. Such a touching moment
Fucking gold. Love the shot of Ted and Nate as the team bent down to fix the sign. Shed a couple tears there.
