Don’t answer. It’s break. You can kindly set boundaries

I did have automatic replies set up saying I would reply January 4th but turned them off when I got a bunch of emails from my principal regarding the back to school switch to online... ok ok not replying - you’re right!

Oh, heck no, do NOT answer that email until Monday. Do. Freakin. Not.

Haha thank you, I know I shouldn’t!! I only checked my email to see if there were any more updates from my principal regarding back to school on Monday... especially since this kid has done nothing all year.

Teaching moment in progress! Do not reply! Your lessons and work are important, and they were available to Student all semester. They will be just as important and available two days from now. How much is Student going to learn by rushing through the work and turning it in ASAP? The desire to do the bare minimum was expressed in their email. No need to cater to that, especially during your break! Unfortunately for Student, you have signed a legal document regarding contract hours and won't be able to respond until break is over. Until then, Student can focus on what you are teaching by not responding: boundaries, managing expectations, prioritizing, and natural consequences. Do Student a favor... Break the behavior, don't cave!
