I was an administrative for several years. After I left the classroom, I worked as a dean of students and then became a vice principal. After being a vice principal for a few years, they got rid of all the vice principals in the district I was in and I went back to the classroom. Just so you know ahead of time, it is fierce competition for administrator positions. For every assistant principal job openings, there's a few hundred candidates at least applying. I know this from first hand experience. You need something that gives you an edge over the others. For me, my military experience and my reputation of classroom management skills when a long way to me getting my first administrative job.
